This quiet ground floor residence located on 15 acres offers a modern rustic appeal. It includes a hot tub, dry sauna, and steam shower for your healing enjoyment. Mt. Washington is situated between Mt. Washington State Forest and Mt. Everett State Reservation offering an abundance of hiking trails and opportunities for nature enthusiasts. As well, the residence offers a convenient marked trail system right outside the backyard for snow shoeing as well as a convenient 15 minute drive to Catamount Ski. The Berkshires/Hudson Valley are the perfect place to enjoy the Fall Foliage in all it's splendor!

Few concerns re: our stay: 1. Guess I should have read the fine printā€¦..pic of whole house, but fine print does detail only 750 sq ft of living space (just the basement). Same with sleeping accommodations, does say sleeps 6 but addā€™l details reveal only 2 BRā€™s and a pull out futon. 2. ā€œSleeps 6ā€ but only has 3 towels? 3. Must have been 60 degrees in the place when we got thereā€¦..have to text / email the owner to have him change the temp? He did it promptly but same thing the next morning / eveningā€¦.so, we just lived with it. 4. Linens and towels prob due to be replaced. 5. No microwave, really? 6. Luckily, we only ended up having 4 of usā€¦..canā€™t imagine 6 people sharing one small bathroom.

Perfect location for a last minute weekend getaway. Appreciated our hosts being accommodating. We enjoyed being close to favorite hiking spots, Tanglewood and local restaurants.

Nice stay and excellent property

My family of four enjoyed our stay. The kids especially loved the zip line. The hiking trails on the property are great. Sauna and steam shower were a hit with the adults.

Lovely getaway in Mt Washington

Our family had a wonderful time making this spot our home during our vacation. The kids (ages 2 and 5) had a blast exploring the expansive property (including the tree house, zip line, and playground), and looked forward to playing in the toy room after full days of hiking and swimming. We strongly recommend this property, particularly for families with young kids!

Lovely, relaxing property

Had a beautiful, very chilled short break. Lovely location with lots of great hiking opportunities. The host, Fred was very responsive. Hot tub and Sauna were very relaxing and the grounds were fabulous for the kids to play in. Do read the description properly as we didnā€™t realize that you only have access to the lower level which does not have much natural light- but youā€™ll be spending most time outdoors so itā€™s not an issue, just something to be aware of.

Great getaway during a pandemic

We haven't travelled for more than a year. It was fantastic for our first trip after the pandemic! We have a 7 and 5 yrs old. There are a lot of activities around the house to keep them busy. Many hiking trails around the area as well. We wish the weather could be better. But even in a snowy day, we can still enjoy the outdoor hottub and sauna! Great stay overall! Hope we can return in the future.

Peaceful getaway

My family of 3 only stayed for a quick few days but we definitely wish it was longer! The property was beautiful and well maintained with so much to explore and enjoy. My 3 year old loved finding frogs in the grass, watching the butterflies around the yard, and of course the playroom inside. We walked the trails, tried out the hot tub and sauna (while daughter was sleeping), ate dinner and played games in the gazebo at night. All around, it was a perfect family getaway after long hectic summer.

Good stuff

2nd time in 2 months staying at Fredā€™s place. Once again really enjoyed the grounds and the hot tub. We were able to hike to the summit of Bear Mountain the trail head about 10 minutes down the dirt road from the house to the CT/MA border. Fantastic views but fairly crowded on the weekend. The next day we hiked down Sages Ravine (same trail but turn left and descend rather than right and ascend). This was a really Beautiful peaceful hike following a stream carving through some rocks. Much less populated trail. As far as Great Barrington, if you want to order Baba Louieā€™s pizza on the weekend Then do so in the early/mid afternoon and set a time for pickup. We tried to order at 5pm and there was a 2 hour wait for take out. Also of note if you are a light sleeper footsteps are prominent when Fred and his family are upstairs. I was aware of this but it did not take away from the overall peace of the stay.

Beautiful mountain setting!

Gorgeous property for a quick (& much needed) get away from Boston. Absolutely loved the outdoor space - so much room for our daughter to run! She enjoyed the wildlife - particularly the orange salamanders on our hike on the property's trails. She also loved the play area inside. Inside was clean and nicely finished (reminded us a lot of our own basement). Shower was heavenly. Our only recommendation would be to bring your own skillet if you plan on cooking. (And if your particular for sleeping, bring your own pillows). We would definitely stay again - we fell in love with the Berkshires!

Fred has beautifully, meticulously curated a glorious backyard oasis perfect for kids, families, adults-- whoever. Loved hiking in the woods, building campfires and playing on the swingset. We would love to come back soon!

Wonderful oasis!

Fred and Tammi's property is half children's play paradise, half relaxing spa- and they merge seamlessly. The property has so many wonderful trails and corners to explore and the apartment itself is lovingly curated to crate calm in every corner. We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back. Just echoing a previous poster's advice to print out directions in advance. The last few turns are very tricky and the reception is spotty until you connect to the WiFi in the house.

Incredible getaway

This was is a fantastic property. The apartment was modest sized, but comfortable. The external amenities and outdoor space was simply incredible. The hot tub, sauna, kids play areas, fire pit, gazebo, and private trails on the property were simply a combination of stuff we've never seen before and were a huge hit for the adults and kids. The area is extremely quiet and a nice break from the everyday hustle-bustle of life. The place also featured a small kids play area inside too...and as anyone with kids knows, other people's toys are so much more fun than your own. My only critique is "sleeps 6" is certainly possible, but you better like each other a lot. Our family of 4 was about right for the space. But----you don't rent this place to hang out in the apartment. You rent this to be outside. If you are doing this property right (and the weather gods are with you) you are mainly outside enjoying nature. Fred is super responsive and friendly. We would certainly rent this place again in a heartbeat.

Magical, peaceful getaway in nature

We were looking for a quiet peaceful place in nature and we definitely found it. The property is a sanctuary unto itself - private, retreat-like, mystical setting. We spent one whole day on the property - hiking, relaxing by the plunge pond, lounging in the hot tub. Itā€™s also close to great hiking (Mount Frizzle and other spots). The space was immaculate and inviting. There were a couple of kitchen items we missed (eg, a colander) but the kitchen and apartment had mostly everything we needed. Great Barrington is only a half hour away so we enjoyed a meal out one night. The rest of the time was hiking and lounging. On the way up we stopped at Twin Lakes in Salisbury (about a half hour away) to kayak. Really beautiful spot. Fred was a great, communicative host. We enjoyed our time so much that we already booked our next stay. Oh one last thing...be sure to print out directions or bring a map. We were out of GPS range for some of the drive and had to improvise at times.

Great Mountain Escape for Young Kids

I spent a few days here with my family (2 adults, one 4.5 yr/old, one 1.5yr/old) and we had a lovely time. Barely even left the property, which was sort of perfect for us. Lots of fun equipment and activities for the kids to have fun with and plenty of space for us to roam around the woods on short walks while the younger one was napping. We didn't even get to use the sauna but the other amenities were great and we had a lovely time. We didn't spend much time inside but the space was also nice, especially for kids - there is a little playroom with lots of toys and the rooms stay very dark. My only complaint is that the kitchen could use a bit more cookware - just two small frying pans and one medium sized pot made cooking for a family a bit difficult. A large frying pan and pot could make meal prep easier for a group like a family.

Perfect getaway

We had a delightful stay at this lovely home and property. We were looking for a vacation that would provide minimal interaction with others (COVID). This home provided that: it's a lovely home, newly renovated, extremely clean, and well provisioned. The property has so many options for fun and relaxation. We enjoyed the big grassy lawn for games, used the hot tub every day, tried out the sauna, and lounged in the gazebo. The vegetable garden, flowers and landscaping are beautiful with so many butterflies to admire. The trails on the property are beautiful and offer complete emersion into the surrounding nature. We spent most of the mornings out on the trails in the state parks, then spent the afternoons and evenings playing and relaxing at the house. I feel really lucky this home was available during the time we wanted to be away! Thank you Fred!

A Forest Sanctuary.

There is not enough words to describe how happy we were with our choice of staying at Fred's home. The place was immaculate, with amazing attention to detail. Everything was fresh, super clean, new or in great condition. The linens smelled amazing, natural smell, no chemicals. The bedding was extremely comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed. The kids' playroom was a lovely surprise, with toys and a magical tent. But all that is nothing in comparison to the glorious outdoors. There is total privacy, there is a beautiful green lawn, there is a playground with swings and a slide, a zip line and rope walking... There is a fire pit to make a fire and gather around at night, a wonderful sauna and a hot tub. And the trails... Oh the trails! And a little pond within a few minutes walk, right there on the property. We felt we were in a different world. And we were! Fred is an amazing host. He responds promptly and is always available. Not that we needed anything. Mostly we texted to thank him for what he had created. We are definitely coming back! Thanks for the magic, Fred!

Great place to relax in the Berkshires!

We had a great week at Fredā€™s house! The property is located in Mt Washington so lots of state parks and forests nearby with really great hiking trails. The house is extremely comfortable and well stocked, and everything is brand new! The outdoor hot tub is a great place to relax in the evening. Fred was incredibly responsive and great to work with. We canā€™t wait to visit again!

A Beautiful Retreat

There is so much to do on the property alone, you wonā€™t need to go anywhere else. The hot tub and sauna are the best features. My entire family of 4 (a 10 yr old and 13 yr old) loved both, not to mention the trails, fire pit, grill and the beautiful finishes of the home. Fred the owners is super accessible. It can be tough to find (our local taxi kept getting confused) but thatā€™s the whole point. Get lost in this sacred place. Thank you for that vacation!

Beautiful, relaxing property

I had a terrific getaway at this location. The property is gorgeous, with several lovely trails leading through different parts of the woods right out the backyard. The drive from Great Barrington is scenic and beautiful, and you also have the Bish Bash Falls just a few minutes away. At the end of the day I had to struggle not to fall asleep in the outdoor hot tub, I was so chilled out. Everything was easily located inside the unit, and every question I had was quickly answered. A wonderful time.

Our space is designed to offer healing comfort allowing any stresses our guests arrived with to disappear by the end of their stay. This space was newly renovated recently and carries a modern rustic design.

Please note the space for use is solely the ground floor portion of the house which includes a kitchen, dining area, living room, bathroom with steam shower two bedrooms, and a pull out couch. Also included is the use of the front porch as well as all the outdoor amenities such as the trail system, outdoor patio, BBQ , fire pit, hot tub, dry sauna, hammock, backyard, swing set, slack line and sandbox. Owner could be staying on property during your trip. Please inquire before booking if there are any concerns. Owner occupies the upper level of the house which is separated from the ground floor by a locked door and curtain.
