It's perfectly located just 5 miles from Deadwood, and 10 miles from Sturgis, so you'll have a great location to come home to after exploring the wonderful Black Hills on your next vacation. With easy access to skiing, ATV and snowmobile trails, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Spearfish Canyon, and the highway to Mount Rushmore/Keystone/Custer and Hill City, Sweet Retreat is sure to be your next favorite home away from home.

With over 4900 sq. ft of space and 910 sq. ft of deck space, there's plenty of room for your larger group of up to 24 people. There aren't many places in the area with that kind of space, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the finer things. It's an open concept with the living area and dining area, so you'll love the ability to prepare meals and enjoy your company. There are 6 bedrooms, 5 full baths and 2 half baths in the home. You'll also love the bar/game room in the property with Foosball, Xbox one console with multiple games, exercise room, and 2 stall HEATED garage - which now has an Air Hockey Table!! If you're wanting to stay connected, you'll enjoy the satellite TV and WIFI available at the property as well. There's a walk out deck in the back of the cabin with a private deck area with a hot tub! You'll often see wildlife roaming through the forest! It was very nice couldnā€™t play air hockey or fus ball as there was only one puck and no ball to play with but overall it was a very nice and clean place and we really enjoyed our stay there and talking about coming back sometime.

Family getaway

We made this reservation to celebrate my husbandā€˜s 70th birthday. Our grandchildren and their families were there. We had a wonderful time! Itā€™s a beautiful home with a lot of nice amenities. Couple things I wouldā€™ve liked to have seen or some Kleenexes in the house in the hot tub water to have been changed prior to our reservation. But overall, we had a wonderful time in a beautiful home.

Perfect place

Our church youth group, consisting of 7 boys & 5 girls ages 16-18 plus 3 chaperones, had a wonderful time here. Everyone had a bed to sleep. And there was plenty of room to gather as a group or to find a place to get away from others and enjoy some alone time. It was a short drive to all the attractions the Blackhills has to offer.

Great for Large Groups

The house is setup to allow for some separation and ability to get away from it all. Very close to Black Hill attractions. The ease of getting into it is easy and the kitchen is well stocked with dishware and cooking utensils.

Family Hostory

We had a large group (over 20) of all different ages. We all loved the house. It was located fabulously for us to travel to where Aunts, Uncles and Nephew was born and raised and also worked and served our country. We also did so sightseeing. The kitchen was large and spacious and we used everyday to cook. Had room to lay games. Everyone had a places.

The house was nice, however not what we rented. We rented Pillar Peak bc of the bed and bath configuration- due to the move in properties, my husband and I ended up sleeping in bunk beds, not my idea of a $2000 vacation.

Family Gathering

This was a beautiful stay for our family who was celebrating my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We had ages 2-72 with 23 of us and were very comfortable. If I had to criticize something it was the need for some sound absorption as it is such an open floor plan with wood everything that sound carries a long ways which could make conversation a little difficult. Maybe a few wall tapestry's? Other than that, such a beautiful stay, location and fantastic accessibility to all the wonderful things the Black Hills have to offer! Will stay again if possible!

The house was well-stocked with amenities and perfectly set up for our group. Budi was communicative and available when I had questions. I can't recommend Sweet Retread (and South Dakota overall!) highly enough.

Our Stay

Overall we were happy with our stay in South Dakota at this very nice home. The location was great and close to all the attractions around the area. The home was large enough for our group of 19 adults and children. There were a few things I felt could have been better for what we paid for. These things may seem petty but when you pay for a stay we should expect the minor things to be right. First the ice maker was broken so we were provided two ice trays to make ice for 19 people. Yes we could buy our own ice which we did, again for a million dollar home one would think the ice maker would work. Second minor things was the games listed in the listing like the goose all table but no ball to use it, the air hockey table but no puck to use it and the gym that was advertised was one treadmill to use. Guess we didnā€™t consider that a gym but maybe that is the way things are listed in the VRBO app? Again most items were minor but we felt everything shown in the listing should be available for the guests! Thank you for the stay!

Reviewer Comments: We had a family reunion at the property with 17 people that all had more than enough space (2 families didn't make it). The property was spacious and high-end. The management company wasn't great. They were actively texting with me until we asked for maintenance to be done on the only light in one of the bedrooms, then got ghosted. If it hadn't been in a fancy ceiling fan, we would have been happy to replace, but as it was, we weren't comfortable with that - and they didn't come fix it. We expected more from $800+ p/night. I would recommend,but if you have issues, don't be surprised if you're ignored.

Nice Cabin for Large Groups

Overall the cabin is beautiful and setup for large groups. Very private and spacious. 5 full bathrooms 2 half baths. Only one bathtub. Two laundry rooms. Not all bedrooms had a dedicated restroom. There are a few things that we felt the home lacked. The kitchen was very unorganized and missing vital pieces to fully use it. We had requested an inventory list prior to arrival and they don't have anything. The fridge never got really cold-- we reached out to property management and never heard back. There is zero storage for belongings in any of the bedrooms because they have beds on every wall. No window treatments on windows makes it very hard to sleep especially with kids. We received one phone call from Budi the property manager who yelled at us for "claiming" to have a patio door open which was causing the AC to run for over 2 hours. We checked and zero doors were open. It was a very hot day so that's why the AC was running in which guests have zero control over.

Reviewer Comments: The hand soap bottles through out the house were literally watered down. There was no dish soap at all to do any dishes in the sink. There were soap pods for the dishwashing machine. We tried to use the ceiling fan in the MB. The light on ceiling fan would turn on randomly, so we were not able to use the ceiling fan because of the light. There was 1 roll of paper towels in the house for us to use. For a house that sleeps 24 how does that even make sense. We never could figure out the fireplace. There was an electrical outlet in the basement bedroom that the plug in would just fall out. Either the furnace filter needs changed or the cleaning crew needs to dust better. The house was 100% what we needed but for what I'd consider an ELITE rental house it lacked in some areas.
