Hand Hewn Log Cabin Newly Renovated, rustic-modern design

Set among five acres of mature and private woods, this newly renovated vintage log home has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and sleeps five guests. The property is completely secluded and private, yet only a five minute drive to town and the beach. Relax and unplug. Reconnect with your family, friends, and nature. Welcome to the cabin at Shady Grove.

The master bedroom has one queen bed and a newly renovated marble and limestone bathroom with extra large shower. The second bedroom (upstairs) has three twin beds. There is also an attached, newly renovated full bathroom. Downstairs you will find a living room with wood burning fireplace and flat screen tv with dvd collection, a fully equipped kitchen, two screened porches, a powder room, and a front porch for relaxing. Outdoors, guests will have access to a gas grill, ropes course, children's bikes, basketball hoop, an array of yard games, fire pit and five acres of woods to explore.

Please note that you must be 24 years of age to book our home. A government issued photo identification will be used by VRBO to verify age upon booking.

Guests will be provided with a keypad code prior to check in. We are available to answer questions and happy to help in any way via text message or VRBO app.

Please note that there is no cable tv and streaming is not available. This property is very wooded and in a rural area and wifi is spotty at best. If you are hoping to work or be connected this property will not fit your needs. There is a tv with an extensive dvd library. Most phones will have cell service and we do have a cell booster. Please turn your phone off and back on again when you arrive so you're connected to the nearest tower-this is usually helpful. People who have good coverage with hot spots may find this as an option.

If you would like to use a high chair or pack n play please let the host know prior to check in so the housekeeper can leave out for your stay.

The price includes 5% local Door County State taxes and 5% Wisconsin State taxes.

Door County Wedding Weekend

My family (the bride's immediate family and Grandmother) stayed at this lovely cabin in the woods while we were in town for my wedding! It was the perfect setting for a peaceful sanctuary before the big day. The layout and location to our venue were exactly what we needed. The hosts were easy to talk to and answered our questions when we booked our stay over a year in advance. We will definitely be coming back in future visits!

Perfect cozy getaway

Stayed here for 4 days with my husband and the cabin was perfect for a little winter getaway. The wood burning fireplace was our favorite part, it’s in such good condition! The old fashioned record player made the place even more romantic and special. Thanks so much for a magical stay we will definitely stay again!

Perfect girls weekend getaway!

This cabin was gorgeous with a unique charm! Away from everything in a private wooded location, yet only 5 minutes from town. Lots of space inside the cabin and out, super clean and most importantly, comfortable beds. I would recommend this cabin to anyone.

Beautiful rustic cabin in the woods!

This is a perfect getaway location in beautiful Door County! The cabin is tucked away in the woods yet close enough to Egg Harbor for quick access to town. We truly enjoyed the rustic beauty of the hand hewn logs and the massive wood burning fireplace! Another nice touch was a working record player and the owners record collection. Maureen was very responsive to any questions we had. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again!

This is one of the rare properties in door county where you have the remoteness that allows for peace, quiet and relaxation, but you’re close enough to hwy 42 where it’s an easy trip to Fish Creek, Egg Harbor or even Sister Bay. The cabin has a fantastic indoor fireplace that could not create a more comfortable experience in either summer or winter, and with patios and decks that surround the entire property, there is always a perfect outdoor spot to sit and relax . We will definitely be using this property again.

Beautiful wooded retreat in the heart of Door County!

Our family loved our time in this great cabin in a beautiful, peaceful, and wooded setting! We hiked and explored all areas of Door County with easy drives from this location. The cabin is awesome with wonderful space, character and beautiful updates. The kitchen is well supplied for cooking and dining. There are many games and movies for hours of entertainment. We enjoyed the outdoor areas from relaxing on the porch and screened porch, to dining at the picnic table and on the deck, as well as when spending time around the firepit. The place was spotless. The beds were comfortable. The hosts were very helpful and comminicative. Our stay was wonderful!

Nice Place and exactly as listed [BE CAREFUL OF ADDITIONAL FEES]

Great attention to detail and very nice, secluded cottage. Clean with all the amenities you need to enjoy down time with family and/or friends. However, be careful of the additional fees. I was billed for "mosquito fogging" after I had already arrived and had stayed a night. Be certain to communicate with the property owner prior to making a purchase so you don't incur non-warranted fees. Otherwise, great place to stay.

Hi Michael, Thanks for your kind remarks about our home. I’m sure you wrote this prior to being refunded for an optional covid fogging fee that I accidentally charged you. We are giving guests the option of having home fogged for Covid related reasons. I accidentally charged you, instead of another guest who requested this service. This was immediately rectified and the charge reversed. We do not charge any additional fees for any other services ever. Thanks for choosing our cabin for your vacation. Easy 3 days in Egg Harbor

This gem is located just south of dowtown Egg Harbor tucked away in a sea of trees. Check-in was a breeze and the cabin was cool when we arrived despited the upper 80s outside. So many positives - well stocked kitchen, turntable with a ton of records (Stevie Wonder was our personal fav), 5 burner grill, large firepit, plenty of blankets, several screened in porches (hardly noticed any bugs ), great communication with the owner, and incredibly quiet. We made use of the ping pong table, the pop-a-shot basketball game and their extensive DVD collection. They also have a large selection of board games - kid and adult. This place is great - no complaints and would stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful respite from this crazy COVID season.

This was our first experience using an VRBO. It is a beautiful property with a lot of potential. Close to town. Unfortunately I had to clean the primary bathroom when we arrived. The shower floor was not cleaned. There was a norwex cleaning rag hanging on the shower rod. They supplied shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, which was a nice touch however they were dirty and had hair on them. The refrigerator door was dirty and inside had a hair hanging on the shelf. The coffee pot had coffee left in it, and the top of the stove had burnt on sprinkles from whoever stayed prior so I also had to clean and polish the stove top before we could use it and clean the coffee pot and basically every dish we used, we had to wash before we could use them. The wine glasses all were dirty as well. The sectional in the great room, we went to adjust the cushions and underneath was absolutely gross. There were food particles, it had obviously not been vacuumed at all. The atmosphere and grounds are absolutely beautiful and peaceful and the fireplace is truly stunning. Beautiful, well equipped kitchen as well. It is unfortunate that the cleaning service is not up to par for this beautiful place.

Another great stay!

This was our second year here and it was just as enjoyable! The hosts and property are very welcoming with all the amenities you could possibly need. The house itself is nicely secluded yet within easy reach of all attractions. Would recommend staying here without reservation!

Beautiful escape, well thought out details!

This was an absolute dream property with everything a family could need and want for a trip out of the city. Gorgeous wooded cabin, modern remodeled and clean bathrooms, and perfect for unplugging. Still close enough to downtown Egg Harbor and other Door County locations. We went to White Fish State Park Beach and Washington Island. Overall great stay and will stay again in a heartbeat. Owners were sweet and helpful - they left us a nice bottle of cider and their record collection can't be beat! We had so much fun.

Beautiful cabin!

The directions, access and stay were perfect! My children loved playing ping pong, and basketball in the basement. The house was very clean and with very good taste decorated. Thanks for letting us stay! I would come back anytime!!!

Peaceful setting

This is a wonderful spot for those who enjoy the many things to do in Door County but like to have some “quietude” where they can get away from the crowds. Very quiet setting and the hosts go all out to make you welcome and Maureen is very responsive to any requests

Cabin in the woods

Worked out very well for our needs. We only stayed a couple of days in Door County with 3 of our young adult children. We needed room to spread out and this fit the bill. They loved the record player and the cozy vibe of the place. Served us well as home base as we drove around to to the various towns. Very relaxing and lovely, serene location in the woods. Would recommend!

Perfection!

We brought my 85 year old parents to Door County, and this gorgeous cabin in the woods could not have been more perfect. While this property is clearly intended for families with young children (and we found ourselves wishing we had young children to bring here!), it was actually perfect for us, too. We were looking for a property with my parents’ comfort in mind, and the cabin delivered all that we needed (main floor bedroom, walk in shower and central air), and then some. My parents remarked every morning how comfortable their bed was. Even my husband and I slept well upstairs in the loft, in the most comfortable twin beds either of us have ever slept in. We all enjoyed the gorgeous setting, lovely decorating and appointments, multiple porches, wonderful fire pit, and cozy living room. The record collection even contained my father’s favorite singer—Nat King Cole, which we enjoyed during dinner one evening. This home truly helped to create a wonderful backdrop for our trip. The owner Marcia was super responsive and a delight to work with. My husband and I are already thinking of our next trip to Door County, which will definitely include staying here!

Great getaway spot

We had a great time staying at this property. Everything was clean and there was all the equipment(kitchen, outside and entertainment that you could need). This is property is secluded in the woods but a quick drive into Egg Harbor and many attractions. This is a great rental if you are looking something quite and away from the busy tourist spots of Door County.

Hidden Gem!

Wow, what a hidden gem! This cabin is exactly what we were looking for when we began searching for the perfect getaway with our young children. With it's rustic charm, secluded location, and perfectly appointed interior, we couldn't have asked for a better Door County experience! The owners have really taken the time to ensure their renters have everything needed for the best possible stay, nothing has been overlooked! The attention to the small details that make a trip extra special were like nothing we have experienced in other Door County rentals.

Great home in a quiet spot in the woods. House was very comfortable and updated. Maureen was great and did a great job preparing us for our visit and responding to any follow up questions we had. The home is not in the main drags of Egg Harbor (which is what we were looking for) but close enough to get there in just a few minutes.

Welcome to Shady Grove! After many years of visiting friends and family and camping up in beautiful Door County we found this lovely old cabin in the woods. This cabin was built around 1880 in Kentucky and moved to Door County at some point in the 90's. We bought it from the original family. We fell in love immediately upon driving up the long wooded driveway one cold and very snowy February night. This vintage cabin needed lots of love but we could see its potential right away. We spent a year renovating it-gutting the bathrooms, adding insulation, removing and replacing the chinking and restoring the logs. The entire garage had to be cranked up to remove and replace an old rotted log. We added a new roof and removed overgrown trees that were casting shadows and suffocating the old logs. These are just some of the projects but the list goes on and on and we are still working each year to improve the cabin and make sure it will live on for our great grandchildren to someday enjoy. It's been a true labor of love and our family of five enjoys this beautiful property whenever we can. Our city kids have had the opportunity to experience the freedom of the woods, develop a true love and understanding of nature, and create memories that we hope will last a lifetime and be passed on to their own kids.
