Lattice House is the ultimate tropical villa. Set in a 60 acre private reserve, 3 minutes above beautiful Playa Hermosa, surrounded by jungle, you will enjoy spectacular ocean views from every room, the decks, and the infinity pool.

Enjoy its unique Bali modern architecture, and custom-designed finishes and furnishings, all imported from Bali. Lattice House was built and has been lovingly maintained as my home, and you will feel as though it is your own private paradise for your stay.

You will have an onsite manager/concierge and an onsite chef to take care of your ground transportation, activities, catered meals, and restaurant reservations, so that you can spend all your time just relaxing and enjoying your stay.

Lattice House is conveniently located half-way between Dominical and Uvita, right off the coast highway. You wonā€™t have to spend your valuable vacation time driving up and down mountain roads to enjoy incredible views and privacy. The reserve encompasses large park-like spaces, orchards, and jungle, with trails leading to numerous streams and waterfalls. In any direction, you see only white water coastline, mountains, or rain forest. On any given day, you may see and hear howler and white-face monkeys, coaties, tayras, agouties, sloths, toucans, aracaries, hummingbirds, parrots, and dozens of other bird species, all from the house decks.
Lattice House is a spectacular place, and I am happy to share it with our guests.

The master king bedroom, one queen bedroom and two full baths are on the main level; two bedrooms (one queen, two twins or one king) and a full bath are on the lower level. There are two sofas in the living room that can be used as additional beds.

Lattice House has all the amenities you expect in a luxury home and much more: partially covered total infinity pool with heated jacuzzi; four covered patios and decks; air conditioning in all the bedrooms; slate and marble floors and bathrooms; lattice work and hardwoods from Bali; outdoor master bath with copper soaking tub; lower floor walk-in outdoor shower; copper and stone sinks; fully equipped, stainless steel kitchen; beautiful furnishings, artwork and accessories.

I can't say enough good things about Lattice house. It made for a relaxing and memorable stay. I don't need to describe it - you can see for yourself how beautiful it is. I'll just talk about things that are less obvious.For starters, the accuracy of the pictures and descriptions is excellent. In fact, everything is even better in person. That often isn't the case in rental situations. Also, the kitchen is probably the best stocked I've ever seen in terms of the availability and quality of cookware, utensils, leftover storage bins, pans, etc. It was so easy to cook meals.I slept in the main bedroom and the bed was so comfortable. I slept great every night.Communication with the owner, Patricia, and the concierge, Ana, were phenomenal and easy. They were great resources and very helpful at every stage.Everything is so thoughtfully done, from the extra binoculars to the beach equipment in the garage, to plenty of flashlights, to umbrellas. It was one of our best vacations.

Perfection!

This property was even better than expected! Our family of seven, ranging in age from 11 - 78 years old, used this as our home base to explore the area, from Manuel Antonio down to Uvita. We fished, walked the whale tail, hiked Nauyaca Falls, and explored beaches, and the Lattice House location was perfect! We also spent alot of time at the property, between exploring the orchard, watching wildlife that visited each day, and relaxing in the pool and hot tub area, with beautiful ocean views. The house is extremely well-stocked and the property manager, Ana, is quick to respond to any questions and provide recommendations for the area. I would 10/10 return to Lattice House!

A Once in a Lifetime Trip

As soon as we turned off the road and passed through the property gate I knew this was a special place. Winding through manicured grounds, orchards, and tropical plants, one gets the impression that something exceptional is about to happen. The house, though well appointed and fully functional, is just a backdrop to the fabulous property on a 65-acre private nature preserve. While the more adventuresome young folks hiked to the waterfall nothing was lost on those who just wanted to sit by the pool, enjoy the scenery, and watch the native birds, animals, and reptiles who had free range of the property. We took several wildlife tours but other than sloths and crocodiles didnā€™t see much that we werenā€™t able to experience at the house (and without the crowds)!The house manager, Ana, was fabulous and she and her staff were very responsive to minor issues. She recommended activities and made the arrangements, had a rental car delivered, and was constantly in touch. We had Chef Koko prepare several meals and he and they were great (get the passionfruit pie!).The property is located 10-15 minutes from two small towns, Dominical and Uvita. There are great restaurants close by, and the kids enjoyed taking surfing lessons. This is a once in a lifetime kind of experience-DO IT!

The most beautiful property!

You will never stay anywhere more beautiful! It is your own paradise. The house is perfect. Ana, the concierge, is so welcoming and helpful. She helped us plan everything we did and answered our many questions. Being able to rely on Ana's help, not having to research every detail was a true vacation!

Pictures canā€™t do it justice

The property is amazing and gives big White Lotus vibes! All the listing photos do not do it justice. The indoor/outdoor design of the house made being out enjoying the pool and view the highlight of our days. The staff/helpers made many great suggestions without being pushy. We used the Chef service for three dinners because Chef Koko was great to work with and made really lovely dishes for us. Ana, again was great to work with and knows her stuff. She was very helpful with logistics like transportation, provisions and tours. I need her for my own home

Fantastic Property

Heaven on earth

We stayed for 5 nights with three couples aged 33 to 79. The understated elegance and way of bringing outdoors indoors was truly breathtaking. The ease of getting to either Dominical or Uvita was so easy, the hard part was deciding where to enjoy a meal out with so many choices. We did utilize the private chef on our first night and would highly recommend. So nice to arrive and not have to figure out where to grab dinner or have to get groceries and cook. We had a rental car delivered, thanks to Ana, and the process was seamless. While we were there we participated in a mangrove boat tour, the atv tour, and zip lining. All were amazing and everyone throughly enjoyed. When we weren't out exploring we enjoyed just sitting by the pool and taking in the scenery. The bird watching from the master bedroom deck was superb! Would 100% stay again. Thanks for an amazing family vacation.

Your private nature sanctuary

I have rented more than 10 homes across Costa Rica and with Lattice House I have definitely found my absolute favourite! The house is located in an extremely large private property with a gate down at the main road from where it takes you about 2 minutes to drive all the way up to the house on the private road. In those 2 minutes you drive past the propertyā€˜s orchard and lush gardens. Be aware that if you rent Lattice House you donā€˜t just get a house but you get your own private nature sanctuary that will take you many days to explore! The value for money is simply unbelievable! You can tell this home was built to live in it and not to make profit from it as a rental home. Especially the kitchen is so well equipped that I as a passionate cook found everything that I usually miss in rental homes. The owner is very lovely and the local host is super communicative and friendly. Next to the entrance there is an instruction manual that explains everything. It is written in such an awesome way and with a great portion of humour that I read it three times!On the pictures the pool looks a bit shallow, but I am 175cm tall and the water covered my chin at the deepest point and it was just perfect. And you can enjoy that while having probably the best view on the whale tail beach of Uvita in the area.Even if you are a big group of people there are so many areas where you can enjoy your privacy on really comfortable furniture when you would like to spend some time alone.

Peaceful, multi-generational stay

Our group of grandparents, siblings, spouses and kids had a wonderful time at Lattice House. It had the perfect multi-generational space to have alone time and together time. The master bedroom was like a treehouse, it felt right in nature. It was perfect for one of the members of the family, who is low vision, to enjoy being in nature and hearing animals from the safety of the house, without worry of tripping on a trail. We did so many activities and Ana helped every step of the way. We would highly recommend the horseback ride to the waterfall--unique and beautiful! The boat ride was also a fun adventure! Anytime we had a question or concern, Ana responded quickly. We enjoyed adding on the private chef services for two nights and it was so worth the money. Next time we would have the chef come a couple of times spread out over the trip so we could enjoy the leftovers throughout the week--Delicious! We are already dreaming of returning to this special place on earth. When you feel like dragging yourself out of beautiful Lattice House, we recommend Dominical for a cool town vibe and kind folks. We hope to return soon--Pura Vida!

Perfect family Costa Rica getaway

Our family had a fantastic stay at this beautiful house. Close to so many fun activities. Ana was the best concierge and arranged everything for us. Beautiful scenery and sounds of nature

The owner, Patirica was wonderful, she answered all our questions before and after booking. We had to make a change and she made it easy. Thank you, Pat! Ana became our go-to person and she was fabulous! She arranged our ground transportation from/to San Jose airport. One person was delayed and Ana was quick to make arrangements for them. They were scared riding alone, but Ana assured them they were in safe hands. She arranged for Alexandraā€™s crew to prepare our first meal, it was exactly what we needed. Ana arranged for our car rental, massages, tour activities, wrote up an itinerary and messaged us before each activity. Anything we needed Ana was just a message away! Thank you, Ana! The House is spectacular with plenty of space to yourself or to come together. The view was beautiful, whether relaxing in the pool or hot tub or on the deck, taking in the scenery and sounds of nature. Bring good binoculars and be prepared to share with animals and insects. Recommend ziplock bags for food. The outdoor showers were a favorite! The hike to the Waterfall is strenuous, walking sticks and good hiking shoes recommended. Use insect repellent (especially on the tours)! *READ THE HOUSE BOOK! Highly recommend the Jungle ATV Tour, Guillermo and Alejando were our tour guides, and they were great! And the Chocolate Tour with Ronald. His wife makes the absolute best smoothies! I had to write a shorter version of everything but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying at the Lattice House!

Nothing short of amazing

Lattice House provided the trip of a lifetime. It was an incredible house. The property was meticulously maintained, beautiful yard and pool and the view was out of this world. It was 2 minutes to Playa Hermosa and is by far the best beach. You can rent an umbrella and loungers at the beach and the kids took surf lessons or you can rent a board. Ana helped plan surf lessons, horseback riding on the beach, ATV tours and the private chef. The private chef was great. The meals were delicious and she left the leftovers in the fridge. Everything was seamless and Ana was prompt in any responses - she even scheduled a rental car to be dropped off at the property and booked us a car to and from the airport. She was fantastic. A true vacation of a lifetime. There is not one negative thing I could say about this stay. It is a must for a true stay in tropical paradise.

Trip of a lifetime!

Six family members stayed at this AMAZING house for 11 nights. The views take your breath away. What we enjoyed the most was having some drinks in the infinity pool while watching Toucans, monkeys and other wildlife roam about the property. There was plenty of room. In fact we didn't even use one of the bedrooms. We had Alexandra cook 5 dinners and 3 breakfasts for us. That might be my biggest recommendation. We found the prices of going out to dinner to be the same as in the U.S. However we received a better value (and food) from Alexandra. We ate out on the deck most nights. There is always a little stress we feel when vacationing outside our country but Ana and Angie completely removed any and all stress! They had the rental car delivered to the house, they made dinner reservations, help design excursions and then sent reminders of what the days activity was with directions. They also scheduled two massages for the women who said they were terrific. We went on the ATV jungle tour, Osa canopy tour and went to the Manuel Antonio National Park. All HIGHLY recommended! I was nervous at first driving in a different country but found it extremely easy. We split time between Uvita and downtown Dominical which are right on the main road. 4x4 is an absolute must if your dinner reservations lead you to Bar Jolly Roger or Gusto and Scala. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing house with us! You helped create memories my family will never forget!

Paradise in Costa Rica!

We had such an amazing time at Lattice House. It really is a special place. I honestly cannot think of anything that could have improved our stay. We were so enthralled by the amount of wildlife on the property, the incredible landscaping and views. The outdoor showers were such a cool experience and its hard to be home and enclosed! Ana has got to be one of the most welcoming humans I have ever met. She was so incredibly nice and added so much to our stay by showing us the house, giving us such valuable information, and always being available for questions and help with anything that comes up. We also very much appreciated the security on the property and staff living on site. I know of several people who had their rentals broken into in this area so it gave us peace of mind to have excellent security in place. The cooking staff was also top notch and we enjoyed the food SO much. They were so kind and everything was perfect. We also very much appreciated the laundry room with so many extra towels and robes as it would take days for things to dry. We kept talking about how the pool was the nicest we have ever swam in. Everything was perfectly clean, comfortable, and the kitchen had literally everything you could need. Sibu Cafe, Scala and the Gastro Park were favorite restaurants in the area. Playa Hermosa was the perfect beach to relax and boogie board/surf at and they have lifeguards! It was a vacation we will remember forever!

Heaven on Earth

Gorgeous Balinese house that blends perfectly into its mountaintop jungle setting and boasts spectacular views, ocean surround sound, and amazing wildlife. It was the perfect week-long vacation setting for us and our well-travelled daughter and two grandsons (ages 8 and 9), who pronounced this their favorite vacation ever. Beaches, horse riding, and other activities are nearby, but we found it hard to leave this amazing place between all the nature walks, constant wildlife appearances, infinity pool and hot tub, outside showers, on-site massages, and the amazing kitchen crew. Alexandra, Juan, and Naca were an amazing team that kept us extremely well-fed--breakfast and dinner--all week long. Ana provded all manner of local concierge support--so affable and responsive. Owner Pat--from Texas--also passed on superb advice from afar. Everything about our Lattice House stay couldn't have been more perfect ... many thanks to Pat and her incredible team!

Celebrating family at Lattice House

From the moment we saw Lattice House on VRBO we fell in love. Little did we know that the actual experience would surpass everyoneā€™s expectations. We travelled with our children and grand daughter to our favorite place on earth: Costa Rica. Lattice House is a spectacular property; easy to find off Rte 34, convenient to everything but special in a way that leaves you with unforgettable memories. A special place that captivated us with all the amenities plus some that you would expect from a well managed, well maintained property. Pure Avidaā€¦weā€™ll be back!

Relaxing in Paradise

Our stay at the Lattice House exceeded our expectations! It is a beautiful property in a great location. The hike to the waterfall was a highlight. The property manager, Ana, was very helpful and took care of all our needs. The meals cooked by the private chef were delicious. We very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.

Incredible Experience

There isnā€™t enough words to describe the incredible experience we had while staying at the Lattice House. The grounds were immaculate, and the amount of wildlife we saw on the property was amazing. We had so many fun experiences animal watching everyday we decided to name all our little friends we saw. Canā€™t forget to mention the hike to the waterfall on the property. Such a fun adventure! This was by far the best trip of our life. The staff was exceptional. Ana is top notch and made this entire trip smooth for us. She was always in communication and very quick to reply if we ever needed anything like directions or suggestions for beaches etc. Alexandraā€™s cooking was fantastic. We loved having her come in and cook us meals. We even added on an extra day because we enjoyed her cooking more than going out. I donā€™t think any other trip can compare to the experiences we had here. My family and I have memories that will last a life time! Thank you for having us!

My late husband and I purchased the property in 2000, and finished our retirement home in 2007. We loved the whole 3 year process of working with the Costa Rican and Balinese architects and designers and overseeing the building of our dream home. We originally planned to live there full-time, but that was before 15 grandchildren came along, and we decided to split time between Costa Rica and Houston/Galveston. Unfortunately, he did not live long after Lattice House was completed, and I decided to spend more time at my home in Galveston, near family and friends, and to share my home in Costa Rica with others who will love it as much as I do. I still get to spend about 3 months a year there--mostly in the summer when I can escape the Texas heat! I have wonderful friends there and treasure every minute I am there. We have wonderful times---hiking, swimming, boogie boarding, bird watching, and sharing wonder meals at home and in local restaurants. The picture is from a dinner at Lattice House on my trip last summer--me in the middle rear, surrounded by some of my closest Costa Rican friends who are fortunate to be full-timers, and Michael McCoy, second from the right front, from Bali, who was the primary designer and who continues to send new furnishings. Since that picture, he has had made for me beautiful new coconut dining chairs. Lattice House and Reserva de Achiote are my love, and all the rental income goes to its upkeep and improvement.

My husband and I wanted to retire to the tropics and in the early 90's started looking in Costa Rica. We loved the idea that it was so democratic and had no army. The first place we visited in 1993 was Dominical, but at that time there was no paved road from Jaco, and we decided it was just too remote for our later years. We looked all over CR, and by the time we decided no place was as beautiful as the southern Pacific coast, the road had been paved to Quepos and there were a few crucial amenities. We spent 3 years looking at property and finally in 2000 found Achiote, the most beautiful, accessible, and private property in the area. I retired in 2005, and the next day we were on a plane to our paradise.
