Head into downtown Truckee, just five miles away, where youā€™ll find a variety of restaurants, shops, and galleries. And for the skiers in the group, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Northstar are all within 15 miles of this rental.

We stayed at this Vacasa rental during Thanksgiving week, and unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing. The location itself is nice, but the home and overall stay fell short in many ways.The upstairs bathroom sink didnā€™t drain properlyā€”by the time I finished washing my face, it was nearly overflowing. The bunk bed sheets didnā€™t fit the mattresses, so they popped off throughout the night. The home also advertised a wood-burning stove, but no wood was provided.The kitchen was poorly appointed as well, with basics like measuring cups and measuring spoons missing.The TV is very small (around 24") and only works through Wi-Fi, which became a major problem when the internet went out. I had to work from Starbucks and eventually rely on a mobile hotspot just to get through my workdays. Vacasa could not get AT&T out during our stay and only offered 20 per night as compensation for the significant inconvenience.Additionally, despite advertising ā€œDog-friendly cabin with pool & hot tub,ā€ the pool and hot tub were closed. Vacasa stated they ā€œhave no connection with the Tahoe Donner HOA and their recreation center,ā€ and therefore would not offer any compensation for the misleading listing.Overall, a very underwhelming rental that didnā€™t live up to expectations or Vacasaā€™s usual standards. I wouldnā€™t stay here again.

Cabin was clean and worked well for our family. Key pads were a good idea so we didnā€™t have to deal with any keys.

Overall, the property is okay. Internet was spotty and some dishware should be replaced or at least considered. If you want a cabin in the woods to retreat from technology, this is the place for you. If you want somewhere to go for skiing or snowboarding near the slopes... this place is also for you.

House needs a deep clean, location is great

We were very disappointed upon arrival with the state of the house. There was a strange odor and we had to open windows and burn candles for the first few hours. Luckily the weather was amazing so we could enjoy fresh air and open windows during our stay. The carpets are extremely stained and worn. The house had not been well cleaned when we arrived - fridge was dirty and cobwebs were hanging everywhere. Aside from lack of cleanliness the location was amazing and I highly recommend Tahoe Donner.

Cozy cabin with easy access to Truckee and mountains

This place was perfect for us. Nice neighborhood, pretty lot, and a nice, open main room for congregating. I wish they would spend a couple hundred dollars to outfit the kitchen better. Odd collection of silverware, glassware, plates, coffee cups, no dish clothes for drying, old toaster etc. That was the only negative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice place to stay

This is a nice place with great access to all local amenities. I do wish the place had a bit of update like television and perhaps switch out regular plugs for some that have usb so we could power up devices. Sliding screen door would have been nice to cool the place better. Other than that, loved it.

Perfect for small group

We spent our days skiing/hiking and our evenings cooking and playing board games on the big dining table. Plenty of linens and spacious kitchen. Note: the kitchen isnā€™t well appointed. There was no cooking oil, can opener or fry pan. Nothing in the fridge and no cooking basics. Just keep in mind if you are going planning on preparing your own meals. Bring everything with you. Otherwise, an outstanding stay!

Weekend Ski Trip

House was ok for our purposes. Plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 kids. Nice fire place and house provided wood. Walkway to front door was snowy, icy and slippery. Kitchen not full stocked so prepare for bringing all items needed. We couldnā€™t find a can opener. Overall cozy older place, everything worked, not the cleanest but house served our purpose.

Fantastic stay!

This cabin was perfect for our family getaway including my husband and I, our in-laws, and 2 dogs. The space was generous and well appointed. The cabin was clean on arrival and comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for our thanksgiving dinner and had most basic necessities. Would highly recommend!

Great Truckee Holiday Spot

The cabin in the woods was exactly what we had hoped for! It was not in a crowded area but close enough to everything we needed. The accommodations were comfortable but we spent most of our time outside on the patio and in the woods. Perfect if you are looking for something basic which was just what we were looking for.

Pictures are misleading.

Total absence of comfortable living room furniture. The coach seats are awful and lack any cushion resiliency causing individual to slide off the couch. Plenty of dog hair on the carpets and floors. The bunk bed mattresses were past their useful life; all the bed linens were old and uncomfortable to the touch. The front door dead bolt did not work.

Loved the location and the cabin was very spacious. However the wifi was very spotty, just for browsing on the phone (we did not try something more like video calls).

Great location, but house in need of some TLC

House is well worn. Rugs were in need of some serious cleaning. Furniture was old and the couches broken down. Wifi needed to be continually reset, and a new router is needed.

Great location, great property management, needs updating

Loved the location of the property. The one thing I wish was we wouldā€™ve been notified that we had to put reservations in to go to the pool! We didnā€™t know and werenā€™t able to go but one time at night our first night there. The property manager was responsive. I do wish the carpet was cleaner and the bunk beds more comfortable. If a six year old complains about them they really need to be updated. The dishwasher and fridge could also use some updating. Very nice area and checking in was very easy. Thank you, we did have a great family vacation.

More firewood than you would ever need!

This is a beautiful and spacious home in a quiet neighborhood. Having access to a garage was ideal. The only real drawback is the slow WiFi and limited ability to stream local news and movie channels. But, when you are surrounded by natural beauty and a library of great books, TV is not really a necessity. We were able to zoom a few meetings while we were there, but we had to make sure our phones and other devices were not connected to the network. The only bed we occupied was comfortable. It was nice to have two bathrooms, one downstairs with a tub and the other upstairs with a shower for the two of us. There is a facility to use a hot tub and pool, but we were completely unaware of where it was and we were not sure if we would have had to pay to enter. It seems to me that any facility was not within a couple of miles. I suppose you would have to drive there. It was not clear in the rental agreement or materials left in the home. We did an internet search, but did not find any useful information or a phone number to call.
