Brand new lakefront cabin!!! Escape the chaos of life in this cozy cottage on the beautiful Hohman Lake. This 1 bedroom cabin is nestled on an 80-acre private lake perfect for fishing and kayaking. A peaceful retreat off the beaten path, yet only minutes from town. 1 Bedroom 1 Bath Hot Tub Washer and Dryer Oven Stove Wifi DVD player HDTV Kayaks available for use with a waiver. Guest will have access to the entire cabin and waterfront access with dock and kayaks. We make ourselves readily available to guest before and after arrival via cell phone. Guest are welcome to call or text if they need anything and we are only 15 minutes away if needed at the cabin. There are no jet skis or motors above 5hp allowed on the lake, so it is incredibly quiet and peaceful. With beautiful views, great fishing, kayaking, and nature right outside your door, you are sure to unwind. This cabin sits on the edge of Shawnee National Forest where you can find hiking, rock climbing, waterfalls, mountain biking, and other outdoor recreation. If that isn't your cup of tea, then you can drink wine on Southern Illinois' world famous wine trails or try your luck at the riverboat casino only 15 minutes away.

The cabin was great with awesome views. It was so cozy. The host made sure we had everything we needed, and even brought extra wood for us, even though it wasn’t something they provided. The deck and hot tub was clean and perfect for relaxing on/in. The ONLY thing I would recommend is bringing your own throw blanket if you like to curl up with one.

Great getaway

A wonderful property for a relaxing getaway. Great views, kayaking, close proximity to Metropolus & Paducah, and most importantly the Shawnee National Forest. I look forward to this retreat every year!

Perfect Anniversary Getaway

We had a terrific time at your Beautiful Waterfront Cabin! The views from the deck and hot tub were fabulous. We enjoyed exploring nearby Metropolis, IL and had a wonderful hike in the Shawnee National Forest. We would definitely recommend this property to friends!

Weekend getaway

This property was the perfect spot to disconnect and get some much needed relaxation. The cabin was very cozy and clean. I would highly recommend this cabin for others looking to have a relaxing weekend while also still be close to the great wineries in the area.

My son's honeymoon

I rented the cabin for my son and his new wife. They came back telling me all about it and sent pics while they were there. They loved everything about it and the special Honeymoon surprise was special. Thank you for that! My husband and I have discussed renting it sometime soon as well.

Quiet and peaceful

My husband and I enjoyed this cabin for our 11 year wedding anniversary! The area was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed having our coffee and drinks on the back deck while watching the lake and the birds. We both enjoyed the kayaks and my husband caught several small bass. The owners were quick to respond and very helpful! My only request would be for more comfortable bedding. Otherwise, the place was near perfect for a weekend getaway!

Nice week on the lake

We enjoyed our stay at the house on Hohman lake. The house was clean and well maintained. The owners are great to work with and very responsive! The hot tub developed a leak and they were there promptly to check it out and had fixed it quickly! We were there during the eclipse and they even provided eclipse glasses. The lake is a nice lake to kayak on. This was our second stay at one of their properties on the lake and look forward to coming back again!

Great little cabin on the lake!

We had a great time at this cozy little cabin on the lake! Peaceful with excellent views of the lake from all rooms! The builders did an amazing job with this finished build out. Bright modern finishes with large windows facing the lake makes it feel larger than it actually is. We seen a crane and some geese swimming and feeding on the water. The only thing I could see for improvement would be a smart tv in the cabin for netflix and streaming aps. There is an antenna that picks up a few channels and lots of dvds to watch. We will definitely stay there again!

Perfect short getaway

The house is perfect for a quick getaway with your significant other. Most places we have stayed at have felt like we were wasting a lot of space. It's hard to find a 1 bedroom 1 bath that is as nice as this house is! It was better stocked than any VRBO home we have rented. The owners seem to be very thoughtful. The place was clean! We loved the kayaks! We saw lots of deer, a couple dogs, and while I read outside everyday a couple hummingbirds decided to watch me. It is also close to Metropolis and we got to experience the superman celebration. We will definitely be back!

3 Day Getaway

Easy check-in, but steep steps. Very clean rental. Could use some upgrading on furniture. Mattress was really firm and took some getting used to. Pictures were accurate but could use some updating. Description said ketchup and mustard provided but then wasn’t available because it also says to clean out the fridge before you leave. Just something that stood out. The scenery was why we were there and it did not disappoint. Loved the deck and hot tub. We used the grill and fire pit. Felt really at home there.

41st Wedding Anniversary

The cabin was exactly as advertised. The addition of a dishwasher would be a definite plus. We have a problem with "hand washed" dishes that someone else has "washed" !! We had originally planned on driving our classic MG automobile down for the weekend. The weather changed our mind on that. Man, am I glad we chose to leave it at home!! The road leading to the cabin is REALLY in need of some maintenance!! With the heavy rains that preceded our arrival the road was a muddy pot holed mess!! Fortunately we were driving our 4X4 GMC and not the MG. Overall, our trip was enjoyable and we even got to meet the neighborhood Patrol Dog.

Disappointed

We booked this place based on the pictures and reviews. Upon walking into this prefab home, not a cabin, we realized that the photos on the vrbo site, are presented from a wide angle lense, not accurately depicting the true space. We did not appreciate the 1/4 mile rutted dirt road leading to the cabin. The unit lacks a dishwasher and garbage disposal. Requiring trash removal upon departure to a dumpster a quarter of a mile from the unit, is unsat. The continuous cycling on of the hot tub, all hours of the night, made it difficult to sleep.

Fall getaway

The cabin was immaculate and beautifully decorated. We had great fall weather for our visit so we were able to enjoy the porch and dock. Too chilly to fish but hopefully next visit we can drop a line in the water. Hot tub was clean and relaxing. Also enjoyed the neighborhood dog, we named him Fred.

The owners are really great to deal with. You have everything you need for a wonderful vacation. The views are awesome, and the fishing is good too. Highly recommend this place or any place these owners have on this wonderful lake.

A fun stay in the Shawnee National Forest Area.

It was a good stay and liked the area. However, we didn’t appreciate the neighborhood dog visiting every morning and night. He would bark and yelp if someone didn’t feed him.
