Retreat Cabin in Southern Illinois on Lakefront with an Outdoor Hot Tub

Escape to our beautiful lakefront cabin on Hohman Lake, and experience a truly relaxing vacation. Our unplugged getaway is the perfect destination for families, small groups of friends, or couples looking to disconnect and unwind.

The cozy cabin features 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, offering 1000 square feet of comfortable living space. Enjoy stunning views of the lake from the screened porch and deck, and relax in the large private spa. Renters are welcome to fish on the lake, swim off the dock, and bring their own kayaks or canoes to use on the water.

The master bedroom overlooks the screened porch and offers a queen-size bed with a breathtaking view of the lake. The second bedroom also features a queen-size bed, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests. Additionally, we provide a queen-size inflatable mattress, allowing the cabin to sleep up to 6 guests.

The cabin is equipped with central heat and air, TV with Blu-Ray/DVD player, washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, kitchen utensils, cookware, dishes, towels, linens, hairdryer, and iron. We also provide complimentary coffee supplies to get your mornings started off right. Please note that there is no cable or satellite service, internet connection, or landline phone service at the cabin. However, cell phone service for texting is good, and voice service is fair. If you need to stay connected, both Metropolis and Paducah public libraries have computer rooms available for use.

There are plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife watching in the vicinity. The cabin is located near the Shawnee National Forest and just a 40-minute drive away from the stunning Garden of Gods.

As always had a great stay at the cozy cabin ! Even was better this year because they added WiFi ! So we can check emails and stuff while out in the woods and lake ! We’ve stayed here a few times and it never fails to impress .

This was perfect!! Very clean. Very comfortable. The dock and decks were in very good condition. With it being chilly, we just sat out on the swing overlooking the lake. Could not ask for a better 2 night get away.

This home was exactly as listed. Very clean and peaceful. It was also very well stocked with supplies. Lots of extra blankets, pillows, towels and general household supplies. The kitchen had everything I needed and more to cook 3 meals a day for a week. It really felt like home. The lake and outdoors were amazing. I just kept looking out at the lake wishing I didn't have to leave.

We celebrated my husband's 70th birthday here and it was relaxing. Our favorite part was the screened in porch where we spent most of our time looking out at the lake. However the furniture out there was just not very comfortable for folks our age. Would stay again but will bring our own lawn chairs.

We had such a beautiful time visiting this cabin. It was very quiet, clean, and had all kitchenware necessary to cook on site. We brought our pup on her very first cabin retreat with us and she floated around the lake! We woke up early every morning for the most peaceful and beautiful lake sunrises. We will definitely be returning.

Great Stay

My husband and I stayed at the cabin for our anniversary. The accomodations were wonderful-check-in was so easy and the house was nice and cool when we arrived-which was a relief in the 90 degree August heat! We enjoyed quiet mornings reading on the front porch and time spent fishing and swimming. Jerome and Rachel have a well stocked cabin and responded quickly to the couple of questions we had during our stay.

Dad and daughter weekend!

I’m a busy legal advocate with 5 kids (24-4). Needed to have a dad and daughter weekend with my college enrolled, almost full time working 21 year old daughter. Rachel and Jerome’s cabin was perfect, lots of time to talk, no work emails, scrolling or homework. The house is perfect and full of extra touches to feel more like a home than a cabin. The expansive back yard was great with the large screen porch, deck, hot tub and the lake access.The only negative, (that was not a negative for us) is there is no cell service and no WiFi. We were able to make phone calls though. For me, this is exactly what I wanted though!Tons of deer, very quiet, not far from several beautiful towns. Less than 2 hours from Nashville, we even golfed one day.Great long weekend! Thank you again to the owners for providing a great experience!Josh and Jenalee

Outstanding lake view

Great proximity to Metropolis and Paducah but the benefits of a relaxing lake view. The screened in patio was SO comfortable. Well stocked home with hcomfortable furnishings. Everything you need for coffee too which I really appreciate.

Serenity on the Lake

My sisters & I were in Paducah for the quilt show & wanted a relaxing place to wind down after a few busy days of shopping. This cottage really fit the bill. Located on a beautiful lake in Brookport, IL, it was exactly what we were looking for. The beds were comfortable, the views were fabulous! The kitchen was equipped with all the right utensils, etc. if I am ever traveling in this part of the country again, I would definitely stay here again

Peaceful and great fishing

It was a nice clean house with pretty views of the lake. My husband caught over a dozen fish. The weather wasn't great while we were there but it was still a good time.

One of our favorite things to do is to sit out on the dock and watch the breathtaking sunset (or sunrise if you're an early riser).

Our family's main reason for repeatedly returning to the cabin was the absence of cable TV and internet. This allowed us to avoid the distractions of technology and focus on reconnecting with one another. While some may view this as an inconvenience, we saw it as a valuable opportunity that our family truly needed. It's a chance we wanted to extend to others who seek a place to disconnect from technology and instead prioritize reconnecting with loved ones.
