We welcome you to relax in our Lake House on peaceful Big Platte Lake in Beaulah, Michigan. This one or two family vacation rental has it all: 3 bedrooms (one-1st floor bedroom and two-2nd level lake view bedrooms), 2 baths, vaulted ceilings, pool table, wet bar, all season porch, outdoor deck and dock and laundry facilities.

Big Platte is an all-sports Lake for boating, fishing and swimming. Nearby amenities include: Honor's Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre, Extraordinary sandy beaches of Lake Michigan, Platte River and Riverside's Canoe Rentals, Crystal Mountain Sky/Golf Resort, Lake Michigan trout/salmon fishing, The Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City/Frankfort/Manistee-shopping nightlife and Casinos all within 20 to 40 minutes away. Golfing can be found everywhere including Arcadia Bluff's world class course located 45 minutes to the South!

Don't forget to pack your recreational travel gear because this site is perfect for biking, hiking, backpacking and trail walking.

Additional amenities include a coffeemaker, a toaster, dishes and utensils.

Additional House Information: There are three bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, grill and garage for storage if you're bringing toys. This beautiful lakefront home is located directly on the water! Step out the front door to a summer of fun! The water is shallow and sandy which is ideal for small kids. There is also a wooden dock that extends out 60 feet if you prefer to swim or jump into deeper waters.

Great stay

The place was amazing. Great deck, plenty of room close to Sleeping Bear Dunes ( 10 min), Close to the River outfitters (10 Mins), grill worked perfectly and was well maintained which is something often neglected with home share places. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough.

Great location and great size for a large family. Lots of space to hang out! Loved the pool table and the hot tub. Joshua was great at responding to any issue or question! The property could use some more routine maintenance but was a great space for the family to get together!

OUR FAMILY VACATION

We enjoy renting this property; itā€™s our second year with them. However, it was the actions of the previous renter before us this year that spoiled our stay. The pool table was totally destroyed and the hot tub was so dirty it was beyond help; every time it was turned it only sent more dirt through. These two items were what we were so looking forward to. The owners returned our calls promptly and were very apologetic and tried to be so helpful.

The outside of the property was beautiful. We enjoyed our time in the deck and dock swimming and watching the sunset. There is plenty of space in the home but it definitely needed some maintenance.

DO NOT RENT THIS PLACE. Upon check-in, host had not communicated info yet. Place is filthy. Carpet stains on both floors. Couch full of stains. Mouse ate our food wrapped in plastic on the counter. Oven did not work. Pots/pans filthy. Window coverings sparse. Lightbulbs missing throughout house. Advertised laundry, but we were asked not to use the laundry. No detergent. We were asked to minimize use of water. We were also asked to clean as much as we can when we leave -- but still paid cleaning fee. Bathrooms dirty. Slept in a bed that smelled like urine... Should have read the reviews -- quite a pattern established here. Emailed host after the first night. When he finally answered, his reply was that our expectations were too high. Logging a complaint with VRBO. This should not have slipped their radar.

Dont Do It

The property is not as described or as reflected in the photos. There's a reason the kitchen and bathrooms are not reflected in the photos. What are also not reflected in the photos were the bugs in said kitchen and bathroom. For the two bedrooms with windows, both had several blinds missing. The outside of the property may have been well maintained at some point but it was not when we arrived. When we attempted to communicate with the property owner (he didnt contact us beforehand), the only response we received was the door code. VRBO's refund/rebooking process is no good so save yourself the trouble and don't do it.

Not so Hot Experience for the Price

I donā€™t generally write negative reviews on rental properties. Iā€™d like to start off by first saying, we did not receive any check-in instructions, nor did we receive an access code to enter the house until 2 hours after check-in time. This means, My family had to wait out on the deck for 2 hours while I was on the phone with VRBO because owner was unresponsive. As soon as entering, there is a note on the wet bar area that states there is a load of dishes in the dishwasher and they didnā€™t have time to unload them. If checkout is 11:00, and check in is 4:00, there should be an ample amount of time to clean and make things presentable for the next group coming in. There are many reviews on this property citing things are functioning improperly THAT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED; the oven doesnā€™t switch out of preheat - we couldnā€™t use this and had to spend more money to feed our family of 9, burned out lightbulbs, missing blinds, etc. I do agree with one below that the view is this propertyā€™s only redeeming quality. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this stay to anyone. If there was obvious effort out towards keeping up with maintenance of this home, and concise communication with the owner on check in/checkout instructions, it would be a much more pleasurable experience for all.

Beautiful lake, house need work

Big Platte is beautiful and made for a lot of fun for our 2 families. We had 4 adults and 8 kids at the house. Pros: The lake is super shallow and great for kids. The outdoor space was a great hang out and the hot tub was a nice touch. We saw the most amazing sunsets sitting out there! The upstairs bedroom with 3 queens made for a great kid room with plenty of space and the covered porch was a nice spot. The pool table was fun to have. Cons: the house needs a lot of TLC. Itā€™s kind of an awkward layout. There is minimal counter space in the kitchen and the pantry was very odd, basically unusable space. The downstairs bedroom is listed as a queen bed but itā€™s definitely a full. There was a large spot of mold on the ceiling that needed attention. There are no windows in the downstairs bedroom which made it stuffy (no AC in the house and it was very warm while we were there). The ceiling fan was very noisy. The couches were covered in what looked like an old cut up blanket which seemed odd. A pipe under the kitchen sink burst while we were there flooding the kitchen. We had to scramble to find the shut off and then had to use every towel in the house to clean it up. The owner had been pretty responsive up until this event and I wasnā€™t provided with a phone number or any way to contact him outside of the app. Took an hour to hear from him regarding the emergency situation. We were down to 1 very small bathroom for 12 people while waiting it to be fixed the next day. Also, the house is right next to a public access point and there were a few times where random people were hanging out basically on the property. We enjoyed the lake and made some great memories.

House was not clean or worth the price!

Iā€™ll start by saying the location is amazing, and the outdoor space at this property is its redeeming quality. There is lots of outdoor seating, and the lakefront view is incredible. The inside is a different story. The pictures make the property look much nicer than it is. There was a spot that looked like mold on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms. Some of the bedroom shades were broken and missing. A cabinet door in the kitchen was missing. The bathroom didnā€™t feel clean, and the towels were musty. In its current state, I would not recommend this property and wish I hadnā€™t spent so much on my stay.

Great property

We had a great week! We love paddle boarding, biking, and swimming so the cabin and surrounding area delivered! Biked and to and swam at the mouth of the Platte River. Took our dog to Esch Beach and swam there - it was great. Biked the Betsy River Valley Trail from Beulah to Frankfort and hit the beach at Frankfort. If you like craft beer hit Stormcloud in Frankfort and 5 Shores in Beulah - both were excellent. Fishing was so so in the lake, but I caught a nice bass so they are in there. Water is crystal clear and there were many calm days for paddle boarding and kayaking. If you are looking for fresh fish hit the market in Frankfort. On a cool night the hot tub was well used! We would recommend staying here.

Something for every age

Right on the lake. The big deck, pool table and hot tub were big hits. The kids enjoyed catching minnows with their nets off the dock. Plenty of room including the garage and parking.

Great location but house needs work

Pros: great location on the lake and near sleeping bear. Enough room to accommodate a big group. Cons: the house is not well maintained. Cleaning staff do a good job wiping down and vacuuming but kitchen and bath towels were stained and ripped. Some stains on bedding. Cracked window in dining room was not boarded up and both interior and exterior panes were cracked making it a safety hazard and unsightly from bugs and water collecting. Oven does not heat up well and left a strong smell of propane in the upstairs the first time we turned it on. Generally itā€™s a good deal for being on the water but youā€™ll want to spend your time outside! :)

Great View and Reasonable Accomodations

The great: the quietness of the lake, and of course, the hot tub. The good: accommodations were acceptable (especially for a house in the north!). Plenty of room for everyone, but the beds could be a scotch more comfy. Overall a great place to stay. Thanks!

Great stay

I came here with some friends for an ice fishing/ski weekend. House was more than we expected. Everything was very clean and hottub was perfect for relaxing. Owner was very easy to get in touch with and answered all of my questions promptly. I would definitely recommend!

Amazing!

The property is absolutely gorgeous with the lake (frozen over at the time). The rooms are also larger than pictured which was incredibly nice. The hot tub was clean and working and incredibly nice in contrast to the cold weather. There were also plenty of towels and dishes. Some of the blinds were broken and some other wall/decor/ceiling had some minor damage that we took pictures of upon entering the house for safety, however, it did not take away from the experience at all. The owner also responded very quickly with any questions and it was a very smooth trip. My group had a lot of fun playing pool and red ball with the pool table when staying at the house. Nearby, I recommend going to Peterson Road Beach (10 minute drive) for sunset one night! We also went skiing at Caberfae Peaks as well as sledding and hiking on Sleeping Bear Dunes. Overall, it was an amazing trip thanks to the lovely property and owner, thank you!

Location of house is great, very beautiful. Only issue was lack of information as far as how to work tv, checking out info, etc. Messages sent to owner got zero response.

Hidden gem

The outside of the home was absolutely stunning. The backyard leads you to crystal lake where the water is prisitne The inside was a little outdated. But overall a great time.
