Welcome to your Maui Retreat: Maui Kai 201 is a luxurious 1 bedroom,1 bath sleeps 4. Gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean and neighboring islands! Our fully remodeled condo is beautifully furnished and decorated and offers luxury living in a charming oceanfront setting. Flooded with light and the brilliant greens and blues of the ocean just outside, the condos interiors have a bright, contemporary look. Open up the large oceanfront doors, and let the sound of the ocean put you to sleep. On those hot summer days, enjoy the cool central AC. Relax on the deck overlooking the water and soak in the sun on a lounge chair. Walk out to the beach and see if you can spot a turtle swimming or put on your gear and snorkel the famously clear water.

The property was very good. It was clean and well equipped. The environment was wonderful as it directly overlooked the ocean. Whales and turtles were plentiful. I highly recommend this property.

We want to note that the power and water disruption referenced was the result of a Maui County Public Safety Power Shutoff initiated by the utility company due to high wind conditions, not a long‑term or unresolved issue at the home. These safety measures are outside the control of property owners and affect entire regions at once. We Loved Our Stay Here

This unit was very clean and had everything that we needed. There is nothing better than waking up and falling asleep to the soothing sound of the ocean. Checking in was a breeze. Easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, grocery, and anything you need. We would definitety come back.

Location

The location was perfect for everything. Eating out. Snorkeling off the beach. Listening to the waves. I recommend trying a cinnamon roll from Papi’s Ohana but expect a wait and trying a meal at Java Jazz for an eclectic experience. Overall it was a memorable time which I hope to repeat in the future at this property.Mahalo Cheryl

A great place

One of favourite stays ever. The pictures don’t do it justice. Quite clean and comfortable. The deck is great and property came exactly as described. Owners were responsive to questions and concerns. Will be looking for this property when we go back.

Beautiful beachfront property

The location of the condo was unmatched - right on the beach with amazing sunset views and walkable to some really great restaurants and amenities. The patio/balcony is where we spent most of our time, listening to the waves and basking in the sun. Everything about the property was just what we were hoping for in our first trip to Maui. Highly recommend. We already can’t wait to come back!

Paradise Getaway

Fantastic location and amenities. beach was nice and not too crowded. Waves so loud you could hear them as you fall asleep in the back bedroom. Very clean. Kitchen had everything we needed to make some meals in and communal grills were great. Pool was nice and quiet too. Balcony- can't beat it and windows to see the water for the entire stay.

Beautiful Lanai!

My husband and I really enjoyed the lanai - early mornings and cocktail time. I probably misread info regarding washer and dryer, but they are not located in the unit. It is coin laundry on same floor - past elevators. Overall an enjoyable stay, plenty of room (small bathroom). And well appointed. Would stay again.

Fabulous stay and great location

The condo was exactly as described. Everything was spotless when we arrived. The added outdoor space was a definite bonus. Loved having the outdoor eating area and lounge chairs. The condo complex is a little outdated, but condo 201 had updated appliances and furniture. We also loved being able to open the sliding glass doors and listen to and view the ocean. We didn’t use the pool or other facilities, but everyone there was very nice and helpful. Close to many restaurants and also a cute food truck area. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this condo to everyone looking to stay in this area.

Hidden gem

This is the second time we have stayed in the Maui Kai condos and we are hooked! This unit was really beautiful. We stayed for a month and the lanai area is perfect for when you have visitors or guests for dinner. I hesitate to say how great it is because it’s getting harder to get a unit here! Maui Kai is literally on the water and there is snorkeling and paddle boarding, just steps away. We saw an octopus, a ray, an eel, and many fish while snorkeling, and the whales in front of the unit are too many to count! A true hidden gem.

Sunsets, whale watching, and private outdoor dining

The sunsets are great from this property. The palm tree off of the deck sets the tone for a relaxing evening after a day of activities. Open the windows and let the ocean waves and breezes put you sleep. Whales were spotted everywhere! The place is just the right size for a family of 3-4. The deck is great for dining and also can be used for light exercise or meditation in the morning. This one makes the short list in Maui.

As Oceanfront as you can get!

The unit has spectacular panoramic windows overlooking the ocean and beach. The windows and screens open wide to allow fresh air and sounds of the sea into the apartment. The location is great for accessing Kaanapali beach. The lanai off of the living space is huge, only two units in the building have that, and it's great for sunbathing, socializing, and watching the sunset. We had an issue with the room safe, but the property management was very responsive in helping us get our belongings out before we had to leave to catch our flight. Overall, a 5 star rating.

Excellent!

This was the fourth of four weeks in HI. Great apartment, literally ON THE OCEAN. As soon as we opened the door we saw whales. Comfortable bed. Great shower. Nice and fully equipped kitchen. Easy parking. Nice pool and hot tub. Not the most luxurious building but it has everything and the location is great. Loved it. Coming back next year. Almost forgot to mention the beach chairs and cooler. Thanks for including. The best ice cream in HI is just a few miles down the road in Lahaina. Island Cream. We went every day.

Everything Excellent

We stayed at the Maui Kai previously so we knew its right on the beach for the morning walks, great pool area, small so easy access to parking and the unit, however, the actual condo was excellent. The lanai on the side which was private and flanked by palm trees, added a whole other dimension to our stay. Yoga in the mornings and great rainbow and turtle viewing. We ate all our home meals there and it was well furnished and had everything we needed. Not too "themey" yet with an island vibe on the inside. Within easy walking distance of a grocery store, food trucks including an excellent place to grab morning coffee, Java restaurant and Duke's. All in all an excellent holiday largely because of where we stayed. AND excellent communication with property management. the unit. The unit itself, however,

Perfect location right on the ocean

This condo is well appointed with everything you need, in a great location and responsive property management. It was very quiet and parking was easy. The lanai is awesome with a table, chairs, couch and two lounge chairs. The condo is showing some wear and tear, but the decor is cute. We did see one dying cockroach on the floor – the cleaning staff likely sprays for bugs when they come clean (& we saw bug killer in the cupboard. The lanai has many birds flying over and so a little bird poop did keep reappearing on the chairs and decking. The bedroom is not ocean facing so no relaxing waves to put you to sleep at night. But the family room and lanai have full ocean views. Within walking distance, you will find a good food truck court, a supermarket, a restaurant and more.None of the critiques would not prevent us from staying there again, but I think it’s helpful to read reviews that are honest.

Great location and comfortable getaway.

We had a great time in the condo. Very easy access to the beach, clean, and the deck was amazing. Kitchen was stocked with some seasonings and everything we needed to cook and enjoy meals at the condo. We loved the ocean views during the day and opening the front windows to hear the peaceful sound of waves crashing in the evening. Closing the windows kept it quiet and peaceful inside. The lanai (outside deck) was splendid, and we enjoyed it but having coffee in the morning, lunch, and drinks outside where we could watch the sunset, see whales, turtles out front, and fish jumping. Chairs and basic umbrellas in the beach bin were a great bonus. Bathroom was simple, clean, and had all the necessary functions. Bedroom was clean, quiet, option for fan or A/C, spacious closet with plenty of room for suitcases and clothes. Condo is close to nearby supermarket. Easy walks on the beach. Overall, I would definitely stay again.

First, we love watching whales and the view from this condo is AMAZING! Every time we looked out the window we saw whales...no exaggeration...if I took 30 seconds to scan the ocean I saw whales. Unit is small but very comfortable for a couple. The whole ocean side window wall opens up and you can just sit and enjoy the ocean. The lanai is also very nice and big! No real beach directly in front but you can walk down the shoreline to a long stretch of public beach that was not very crowded. Or cut thru to the public beach parking and hit the walkway that heads to the Kaanapali beach area. There is a large food truck area you will see as you drive in to the resort area. Good selection and easy walk. Also across from there is a shopping area. The pizza place has great gelato. We hope to return to this unit again another whale watching season.

Beautiful Condo - with big problems

My husband and I spent a week of our two week stay in this condo. Upon arrival found a note on the counter informing us we might see ants and roaches. Correct, saw both ants and roaches making it very uncomfortable to sleep or eat in the condo. Minutes after arriving noticed of the lounge chairs on the deck was ripped and unusable. immediately reported to the owner who said they would make take care of it right away.. we never heard back. The laundry room was piled with bags and boxes of garbage, thence the roaches.. We do not recommend staying here.

Maui Puts a Smile on Our Face

I have had a couple of weeks to reflect on our trip and the one thing I noticed from my family and I is we have not been the same since. This is our second trip to Maui (the first was without kids) and we stayed at the Maui Kai. I have to say we still miss it. When you live in Alaska, you start to appreciate vacations more because of the vast difference in temperatures throughout the year, that is 146 degrees difference in 6 months. Our trip was great in many ways, but one thing to note is that the room we picked was the best choice we could have made for value, comfort, and family approval. The kids loved the private porch, the hours upon hours at the pool, and the ability to grill fantastic steaks on the provided grills. My wife loved the privacy and the fact that the room did not feel like a boring motel/hotel room. Full disclosure: I debated leaving a review for this room for selfish reasons so it's not booked up when we come back, but that attitude would not have done the owners justice in the long run. Thanks for reading this, and I hope you enjoy it!

Our stay in kaanapali

This building has a cockroach problem. I would not recommend staying here. I saw a review about someone complaining of cockroaches and I asked them if the issue had been solved and they said yes but they are “hard to control in the tropics.” We kept our place absolutely spotless while we were there. We barely even cooked in the condo bc we were nervous about cockroaches. I did laundry twice while we were there and the laundry room had multiple cockroaches on the walls both times. I also found one in our bathroom one day when I went to shower. The beautiful deck is not so beautiful when there were GIANT cockroaches on it at night. We would turn on the lights to go outside and see them all running away. The pool for the building is nothing special and it is not on the water. It is in the middle of the parking lot.

Good and Bad

The good…. phenomenal views (just as pictured), nicely decorated, great kitchen, short walk to resort boardwalk and great beaches, quiet building and a huge deck. The bad… the unit was starting to show some maintenance issues especially significant water damage around the windows, hazy windows, some peeling paint, and issues using exterior windows. Also, the building is a bit tired and “motel” feeling with cinder block walls and dated underwhelming entry / exterior hallways. While the water is incredibly close (awesome sounds to sleep to), it’s also a bit frustrating to have to walk through the public park to get to a usable one. The deck is quite nice but also flooded with light at night from the neighboring building. While the unit does have some amazing features the flawed are significant. The unit is in need of some TLC, and overall experience isn’t consistent with the views and pics given age and nature of the property.

Great Location, view and condo.

Check in was easy and property manager was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. The unit was clean and had everything we needed. Washer and dryer weren’t in the unit but it was quite convenient to have it on the same floor and just a few steps outside the front door. Our first night we slept with the windows open so we could hear the water outside. It did get quite loud and I was sorta over it after that, my husband wasn’t but he is a heavier sleeper. It was nice during the hours we were awake. The breeze. The sound of waves. It really was great. However at bedtime, We had the windows closed after that and it did the trick. Windows are a pretty good sound barrier. We were very comfortable with the ac in the unit. Only used it when we needed it. The breeze coming in and the fact we were out of the condo more than in the condo meant it wasn’t always needed. But definitely worked when we did use it. There was everything we needed in the kitchen. Only cons, because, Even paradise has to have a con somewhere. I wish there was more bath towels. We washed ours but there was only a couple. The vacuum in the u it was a great idea. Sand always gets everywhere. But it didn’t work too well. The small broom was…. A small broom. A kitchen, house broom would have been a little Better. The water comes right up to the sea wall. So no beach but it is a few steps to the right. Not a big deal. There is beaches everywhere!! Overall…. We would stay again. We absolutely would.
