Star Lake Wisconsin rental

Located on beautiful Star Lake, one of the most desirable lakes in northern Wisconsin, the Star Camp Compound includes Oak and Fern Cabins which were newly completed in 2007. These year round homes have rustic north woods charm for the perfect vacation.

Oak Cabin and Fern Cabin rent as a duo during our peak season-May through the first week of September. Oak and Fern can be rented separately or together for a discounted rate during our off-peak months-September-April, excluding holidays. Please inquire directly about holiday rates.

Oak Cabin has one king, and two queen bedroom suites, each with its own private bathroom, and also includes a separate powder room. Oak Cabin includes a fully outfitted kitchen with dishwasher, double ovens, gas grill, and a dining table suitable for ten. Oak Cabin's large screened porch overlooks the lake.

Oak Cabin also includes two fireplaces, bar with wine fridge, den with fold-out couch, and playroom with flatscreen TV, DVD player, and ping pong table. Fern Cabin has a queen bedroom suite and a full bedroom suite, and also includes a loft with two twin mattresses.

Fern Cabin includes a fully outfitted kitchen with dishwasher, and dining table suitable for six. Fern Cabin's large screened porch overlooks the lake. Fern Cabin also includes a fireplace, bar with wine fridge, flatscreen TV, and DVD player. Each cabin have separate washers and dryers.

Linen and towels are provided.

Our experience was amazing, this property is the perfect getaway.

As soon as you step inside, it’s like you’re in another world. A lot, and by a lot, I mean numerous accessories and figures. By far , the best stock cabin we’ve been to! The area is just breathtaking! Thank you for this beautiful experience !

Great house on Star Lake

Thank goodness the house was so comfortable and in such a beautiful area. Snowmobiling was a bust, but the house made it worth the trip. The host was very attentive and gets back to you right away with any questions you may have. 5 Stars

Oak and Fern July 2024

Oak and Fern were a very unique and special stay! Cabins are really well appointed kitchen/cabins very well stocked. Cabins especially Oak was pretty dark inside and could use a light above the dining table! The cabins both had screened in porches that we used a lot! Fern cabin had a loft which kids used. They could use better mattresses up there as they are more sleeping mats than actual mattresses. One of the bedrooms in fern really vibrated (floor and bed) when air conditioner running. Some items weren’t working during our stay. One of the ovens in oak and ice makers at both cabins did not work. The lake is beautiful and very quiet with minimal homes. We really enjoyed the firepit which was stocked with amazing amount of wood and we enjoyed watching the wildlife, ducks etc! Would recommend as one of the nicest places we have rented

It is beautiful, fully stocked with all one would need to cook or clean or enjoy lake, land and home! Rob Errington is a wonderful property manager - super accessible, patient, personable and responsive to questions and needs. He gets an A+ rating from our entire family of 12! Thanks, Rob. And kudos to Wade Weismann and his team - architect and interior design = top notch in the Northwoods.

Another Great Week ...

As usual, our week in Star Lake at this house was great. The house(s) are always generously provisioned with everything one might need for the week. Especially enjoyed the enlarged dock this year! The kids were pulling pan fish out of the water like they were expert anglers.

Nirvana in Star Lake

This was our first time staying in this rental, but we are no strangers to Star Lake. We have already deposited for next year. The architecture and amenities continued to amaze us throughout the week. Plusses - the kitchens, the laundries, the bathrooms, the atmosphere, the dock, the lake, the fire pit...

Northwoods Heaven

This was year 4 at this property. As always, the house(s) were in great shape. Always clean and well provisioned. The location on Star Lake is spectacular. The property manager is readily available if needed, and, more importantly, he's just a great guy. So much to do in the area ... fish, hike, boat, swim, etc ... and if you desire to do nothing, this property makes that really enjoyable as well.

Relaxing week long stay!

A large group rented Oak and Fern for 7 days and had an amazing time! The cabins were spacious and had everything we needed to have a great stay. We brought a boat and rented a pontoon from a local company and enjoyed being out on the lake every day- there are great places to anchor and hang out on the sandbar (the lake itself is quiet/ no restaurants to boat to). Which makes it great for tubing, skiing, fishing, kayaking etc! There are two canoes provided (no kayaks or bikes). As mentioned in in other reviews, the lighting is dim- this is part of the feel of the log cabins. Be aware of this and bring additional lighting if you think you may need it. There is a small store very close to get bags of ice and other supplies. We had a lot of vehicles and were able to easily park them in the driveway. The yard with fire pit is great and wood is provided! This is a great spot in a quiet area. Golf, and other activities are a 30-40 minute drive.

The property was amazing. Spectacular view of a quiet, clear lake in the north woods of Wisconsin. The property manager, Rob was ready, willing and able to assist any and all questions. He went Above and Beyond an every level to ensure our family had a great time

Fern and Oak

The lake was nice and quiet. The outside fire pit was fantastic. The property manager can twice to replenish our wood supply. Property manager was great, quick to respond to all my requests. The house was a disappointment. The pictures were not very accurate. The house was so over-stuffed with furniture and “stuff” that it was overwhelming. The lighting was awful. Trying to cook in the evening was very challenging. The bathroom lighting made it impossible for the men to even see to shave. Even though the property said “no pets”, there was dog hair all over the furniture in the screen room. This was definitely a problem because one family member has severe allergies to dogs. The driveway was impossible to maneuver a vehicle with a trailer. Based on the expense of this property, I certainly expected better.

Beautiful location, tired house

This is a fantastic lake and the houses have wonderful screened porches. The outside firepit is great, with a large stack of firewood nearby. The main house needs attention. It was a beautiful summer week and all meals were on the porch. The table is small and the chairs rickety and falling apart. Many screens need help. Ice maker broken, so we had to make several trips to the store to buy ice. We rented the float boat. Also in need of repairs. With our first inspection of the boat, we observed that there was almost no fuel. Thanks a lot. This is an expensive rental. I expect better care.

Second year staying here and will be back next year again. Both houses beautiful, well provisioned and well taken care of. Property manager is great. He’s there to help if and when you need it.

5-Star Property on the Star

We just returned from a great week on Star Lake and the Oak/Fern. We had a wonderful experience with the property manager that checked in several times throughout the week. The booking process was very easy and he worked with us to find the week that worked best for our large family. The Oak/Fern is perfectly located on a quiet bay on Star Lake. There are a few other homes on the bay as well but this did not take away from the sense of privacy you have at the Oak/Fern. We had a great week of fishing, boating, skiing, and tubing throughout the lake. The sandbar off of the State Park is a wonderful spot to chill and sip on a few beers while the kids explore. The lake is very quiet with very few homes. There are quite a few restaurants close by and the General Store on Star Lake has gas and essentials should there be a need. The Oak/Fern are just beautiful homes. Cozy but with enough room to spread out and feel as though you have your privacy. Beds comfortable and linens top notch. The kitchens are stocked with everything needed (and then some) to cook at home. The fire pit and outdoor setup is the best we've experienced in 10 years of renting homes in Northern Wisconsin. Welcoming and inviting to have a bonfire and yard games for the family. The dock was easy to maneuver pontoon, fishing boat, and waverunner. Thank you for such a wonderful week in one of the most pristine settings we have experienced. Oak/Fern are top notch!!

Gourmet kitchen - foodies required

Spent two weeks at this property on beautiful Star Lake. My adult children consider themselves foodies & we had rental properties in the past with poorly stocked kitchens. This property had a fantastic fully equipped kitchen. We assigned meals to each of the eight adults in our group. Some dishes we extremely complicated and every conceivable kitchen gadget was available. The main house (Oak Cabin) has a beautiful screen porch which extends most of the width of the house. We spend our mornings drinking coffee and looking at Star Lake. Evenings were spend by the well stocked fire pit also overlooking Star Lake. Daily fishing on the lake off the pier or from the pontoon boat we rented. The house manager, Rob, was very responsive and his recommendation for a boat rental was perfect for our 11 person group. We will definitely be back to this beautiful spot.

Another wonderful stay at Oak Cabin

First off, Rob was amazing and on top of our communications. We had a situation where our truck was stuck and he didn't need to help but did and solved the situation. We've stayed at the Oak Cabin several times and each time it's been wonderful. The view you can't beat and the decor is very inviting. Also, we love a wood fireplace and this one is the best! Thank you again for sharing your place with us.

This property is even better than the photos depicted. Very well appointed and supplied. Made for a wonderful stress-free vacation. Rob checked in on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to come back.

Oak and Fern cabins are the perfect place to spend a cozy, family winter week!

This is our second winter visit to Oak and Fern. So comfortable for our family of 8 plus 2 littles. Roaring fires inside and outside. Built and furnished just how you would dream of a Northwoods place to be. Camp! Well stocked kitchen for family meals and plenty of space for private time. We will be back!
