Villa Kleanthi is a 265 sq.m. residence, located in a private land of 5,000 sq.m. at the quiet village of Kare, offering impressive mountain views. Furnished in a contemporary style, the two-storey villa can accommodate 8 guests in its 4 bedrooms and up to 9 in total.


Being only 15 km away from the long sandy beach which lies in front of Rethymno city on the North coast and 30 km away from the famous natural beaches of South Crete, Villa Kleanthi is a great holiday base for excursions around the island.


Layout of the Villa
Ground Floor:
-Living room with: Comfortable seating area, a fireplace, Bluetooth speakers, a 48 HDTV with Netflix, a home cinema
-Separate, fully equipped kitchen with all necessary appliances
-Direct access from the living room and kitchen to: main veranda, pool area, and garden.
-Laundry room with a washing machine and one full bathroom with a shower
Two bedrooms: One with a double bed and one with a semi-double bed


First Floor:
Hall with office and library overlooking the living area below
Two bedrooms, each with king-size beds (1.80 m x 2.00 m)
One bedroom includes an attic with: HDTV, semi-double mattress
Both bedrooms feature: Private balconies with stunning views, and en-suite bathrooms with hydro-massage shower cabins

1,000 sqm landscaped outdoor area with aromatic herb gardens, flower gardens, and trees
-Facilities include: 35 sqm swimming pool with 6 sunbeds and 2 umbrellas,
-Fully equipped charcoal BBQ area with: Wood oven, a sink, a Pergola
-Outdoor dining table in a shaded veranda next to the BBQ, overlooking the pool and landscape
-Multiple furnished relaxation areas (sunbeds, outdoor sofas, outdoor beds, hammock) across balconies, veranda, and gardens
-2 adult bicycles, and safe play areas for children
-Fenced parking area for multiple cars


**Accommodation cost excludes Climate Resilience Tax. The amount for the accommodation type is set at EUR15 per night from April to October and EUR4 per night from November to March, payable upon check-in.

Fantastic! Beautiful views, charming decor, refreshing pool. The house has everything you need for a great vacation, and the hosts make sure to help you with any questions like the nearest grocery store or nearby tavernas.

Family Get away in Crete

A perfect villa for our 5 night stay in Crete! The home is spacious, welcoming and offers not only complete privacy but amazing views from a wrap around porch and pool. We appreciated being able to spread out, enjoy the views from all of the bedrooms, and enjoy family meals cooked in the well-stocked kitchen. Our gracious host met us a check in and was available for any questions we had. It was a central location convenient to really sample the many wonderful offerings of Crete. I would highly recommend!

Prachtig ruim huis van alle gemakken voorzien. Bedden liggen lekker, genoeg kast ruimte, overal horren voor de ramen als je wilt, het is schoon en het uitzicht geweldig. Heerlijke avonden bij de tafel beneden bij de bbq gehad en in de avond gezwommen. Zelfs de krekels gaan we missen.

Die Villa Kleanthi auf Kreta ist ein wahres Juwel! Die verborgene Lage bietet einen spektakulären Blick entlang der Bergmassive und Olivenhaine und die umliegende Landschaft. Die Villa ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und bietet alle Annehmlichkeiten für einen entspannten Aufenthalt. Der private Pool ist perfekt zum Entspannen, und die großzügigen Außenbereiche laden zum Verweilen ein. Zur richtigen Zeit können Feigen oder Granatäpfel zu kühlen Drinks von den Bäumen gereicht werden. Der herzliche Service und die gastfreundliche Atmosphäre machen den Aufenthalt unvergesslich. Ein idealer Ort für einen erholsamen Urlaub!

Wir waren für 2 Wochen in diesem äußerst geräumigen schönen Haus . Tolle ruhige Lage , fantastische Aussicht , geschützte Terrasse. Die Besitzer haben uns herzlich empfangen, gaben uns Empfehlungen für Tavernen und Strände und waren direkt zur Stelle bei einem Problem mit der elektrischen Rollade... Wir kommen bestimmt wieder...

Schöne Zeit im Bergdorf

Sehr schönes Anwesen, geräumig und sehr gut ausgestattet. Geschickte Raumaufteilung und dadurch gute Privatsphäre auch bei größerer Gruppe oder verschiedenen Generationen. Gepflege Außenanlage mit zwei getrennten Grünflächen sowie mit Pool, der regelmäßig gereinigt wird, bietet Ruhe und Entspannung. Geselliges Beisammensein und fröhliche Feiern ermöglicht die Außenküche. Ausgezeichnete (!) Tavernen mit leckeren kretischen Gerichten gibt es in den Nachbarorten. Das Haus ist zentral gelegen, somit sind die Strände im Norden und vor allem Süden gut erreichbar. Ein (Geheim-)Tipp: Ein Besuch auf dem nahegelegenen minoischen Friedhof.

A wonderful property

We stayed here as a family of four and recommend the property highly. It is big and was fairly enormous for us but a great place for our four and seven year old to explore. The house has everything you need including a filter coffee maker and the owners are kind enough to supply all essentials including butter, coffee, bread etc. The local restaurant Goules is a great place just a few minutes drive away. You do need a car. Rethmyno is about 20 mins away with lots of places to eat. Livida beach was our favourite (about a 40 min drive) as it’s a sheltered cove with a sandy beach and very shallow. Closest supermarkets and bakery in j Armenoi and 8 min drive away. Our check in and check out was excellent and straightforward and the clean every few days was an added bonus. We would definitely return!

A gem!

We had a wonderful 2 weeks stay in this very beautiful and very big villa, up in the hills and away from all the hustle and bustle so were able to truly relax. There were 6 of us including 4 children and they had everything we needed. It would have been nice to have a couple more items for the children to play with in the pool but that was no big drama. Everything was very clean and it was nice to have them come and do a mid week clean whilst we were out. The 2 little supermarkets in Armeni have all that you require and if you need anything they don't have then Rythemno is only about 22 mins drive away. We did lots of day trips including 2 waterparks so there are many things that are accessible without having to drive more the 1.5 hours away to keep you busy. The company Etouri that manage the property were very helpful and even surprised us with a couple of gifts which was so nice of them and really appreciated. They were always available and very quick to respond if we needed anything. All in all, a great place to visit and stay. We were so lucky to be able to get away during such a happy 2020 COVID year and it was made extra nice by being here in Crete. Definitely recommend! Thank you for having us, Kerry x

3 generation family holiday to Villa Kleanthi August 2020.

Such an amazing villa which was most definitely worthy of our 5 star rating. It had everything we needed as a family of 7 across 3 generations for our holiday. Plenty of space inside and out, sun and shade at all time’s of the day, lovely pool for swimming and cooling off, amazing BBQ area and really well equipped kitchen and beautiful walks around the surrounding area. Away from it all but close enough to rethymno for nights out, visits to the beautiful town and beach visits to the south coast too. Thank you so much to Evelin the owner for such a warm welcome, the lovely treats and the food shop on our arrival. I can’t give enough praise to Etouri (Edit, Eleni and Kostas). Right from the off with help booking the villa, organising things before we arrived, booking amazing tables at special restaurants, checking in with us throughout our stay to see if we needed anything at all and keeping us fully up to date with any changes due to Covid restrictions. A fantastic service that we will definitely look to use again.

Perfekter Urlaub

Wir können den anderen Bewertungen nur zustimmen: Wunderschönes, großes Haus mit sehr gepflegtem Garten. Für uns 7 gab es mehr als ausreichend Platz. Küche super ausgestattet, verschiedene Möglichkeiten, dass Essen einzunehmen (am Pool, auf der Terrasse, in der Küche, im Esszimmer). Perfekte Lage zwischen Nord- und Südküste. Freundliche Vermieter, sehr hilfsbereite Holiday Advisor, die tolle Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt hatten. Wir haben unseren Urlaub in vollen Zügen genossen, vielen Dank!

Fabulous villa in a beautiful remote location

Villa Kleanthi is truly a fabulous property, set in a remote mountain location in the village of Kare with stunning views of the White Mountains & surrounding countryside. Its owners, Marina & Takis were wonderful & attentive hosts, providing a very warm welcome and always being at hand whenever a problem presented itself. Its location provided easy access to both North & South coasts & a vehicle is essential to allow you to get around these areas and of course to do local supermarket shopping in Armenie. The villa provides so many outside areas for groups to sit & relax and also eat or have a drinks whilst watching the beautiful sun-set. Whilst enjoying 2 weeks of sunshine, the pool at this time of year was not warm enough for swimming but it still provided opportunities to cool off, when the sun became a little intense. Being in rural location, the peaceful atmosphere is often broken by the sound of sheep bells or a crowing cockerel and around sunset, a flock of swifts entertain you by swooping across the swimming pool taking a drink as they fly. Just down the road from the villa is Goules Taverna where Kostas the owner will provide some of the best Cretan food available on the island - this small taverna is a real gem & the welcome from Kostas is always warm & welcoming. Overall, our 2 weeks at Villa Kleanthi was extremely enjoyable and relaxing and we would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone looking for a luxurious retreat in a peaceful & beautiful location in Crete.

Villa Kleanthi

This is a beautiful property very peaceful and with lovely views especially the sunsets! We were greeted by Marina the owner who was lovely she gave us a welcome gift of olive oil, jam and local made cakes plus basics in the fridge which was much appreciated. The house had everything we needed with plenty of space , lovely areas to sit and relax and a refreshing pool. Nearby supermarkets (car needed) and a taverna about a 20 minute walk away where the staff and owners are very friendly. We had a fantastic relaxing holiday and the owners and management couldn't have done anymore for us. Would definitely go again and fully recommend this property. Many thanks

Amazing place for vacation

Excellent . Marina is a fantastic host and so the etouri team . ( Kostas, Eleni and Robert ) . It was beyond our expectation . It is a beautiful property. Everything was tailor made for us . I highly recommend this property for family or couples .

Beautifully designed, modern and spacious "home".

We have stayed in many places in Greece through our travels and Villa Kleanthi is clearly one of the best! The Villa has everything one would need for a very comfortable and restful stay. It is impeccably and thoughtfully designed. The location itself is very quiet with beautiful views of the countryside - 20 minutes from Rethymno and 35 minutes from the gorgeous southern beaches. Couple all of this with the wonderful Greek hospitality of Marina and Takis the owners and you will be very happy you've chosen this Villa. We will be back. I also want to thank Kostas from the management company for his excellent service, a level of which I have not experienced in my decades of travel.

Immaculately kept property in a peaceful location

Villa Kleanthi is a beautiful & spacious villa in a very peaceful setting. Everything you could possibly need is there for you, including a lovely warm welcome from the owners Marina & her husband who will greet you with local treats! The bedrooms are all gorgeous & the main lounge huge, wth a wrap around terrace. Booking could not have been easier & the help we received from Kostas at Etouri during the booking process & then from Sophia whilst we were there was the best I've experienced in 30 plus years of travel. I should point out that I work in the travel industry myself so to get such excellent service & such a warm welcome by the owners made a fantastic impression on me - as well as the rest of my party. The owners, who discovered it was my sisters 70th birthday, even left a beautiful gift on the doorstep for her on our return from the beach one day! The Villa is approximately 1 hour 20 mins from Heraklion, 15-20 mins from Rethymno & 35-40 mins from the south coast beaches. If you don't mind the initial drive from the airport then your are perfectly positioned for both the North & South coasts of the island. We loved the beaches on the south coast visiting three different ones on three days. Plakias being one of them, which is a great place for lunch on the water. We particularly liked Sofia's. Try the smaller beaches & bays a couple of miles to the east & west of Plakias. All have sun loungers & food/toilet facilities. We also visited Rethymno & loved our two evenings out there. The old town is lovely & the meal we had for my sisters 70th birthday at Prima Ploma was outstanding. If you ask Sophia to book for you they will give you the best table in the house - with spectacular views along Rethymno bay. Be warned though, the dessert trilogy will feed 6! I'm not kidding. I have a sweet tooth but 5 of us could not get through everything, delicious as it all was. Another great meal in Rethymno was at a restaurant called Petite Fleure, which is right across the road from the main beach & just a short 6 or 7 minute walk from the old town, where we started the evening off with cocktails in a bar/cafe. The tastiest thing I had all week though was at the local Taverna, Goules. A starter of goats cheese parcels & plum jam. Yum. It's a small taverna & it was quiet when we were there, but the owner was lovely recommending different dishes for us to try. All round, a great holiday. Thank you!

All you could need villa

The Villa Kleanthi was perfectly maintained. The owners were very friendly and we were given so much information before we arrived about beaches, restaurants, shops, etc., that we were fully prepared for our holiday. The villa is set on a hill above a very small village, very close to the next village which has a small supermarket and bakery. It is only 15/20 mins from Rethymnon, where there is much nightlife if you are interested in this - we were not. We enjoyed the quiet (except for the cicadas) and had a completely stressfree holiday. We would highly recommend this property.

Outstanding villa with wonderful views

We had a great time at villa Kleanthi! Our first impression was dominated by the beautiful house and the warm welcome of the owners. We arrived in the evening and the owners had prepared some typical Greek pastries for us. After giving us a tour through the villa and showing all facilities we even had a raki all together. Besides this pleasant hospitality, we like to stress the owner's and tourist service team's offering of information. There was plenty of tourist brochures about Crete and local places. Furthermore, we got a book, that provides all required information about the villa. Moreover there was even an application for mobile phones, telling all you need to know about the villa, restaurants, attractions... Of course the onwer and tourist service team could be contacted at any time (although there was no need to for us). Cleaning of the villa was operated every 3 days. Talking about the villa itself, there was really nothing to complain about. Every room was well-kept, spacious and fully equiped. At this point we want to point out the equipment of the kitchen, which provides devices we do not even have at home. Excellent kitchen! The garden and pool area was another highligt, that was even better than shown on any pictures. In the evening we used the barbecue several times (there was even a package of charcoal, provided by the owners). The sunset over the mountains is great. Finally the pictures give a good impression of how the property is like (and being there is even better). Crete is a beautiful island. We visited several beaches and cities. But due to the size of the island and mountained countyside (which is impressive) it might take some time to reach different places when starting from the villa. Rethymno was about 25 minutes away by car and to the next supermarket it takes you about 10 minutes. There is a tavern (Goules) close to the villa (20 minute walk) which is really awesome. As recommended by the villas owner, we had dinner at ther taverna for 3 times. Food and Kosta (runs the taverna) should not be missed!!! To sum up: come here and enjoy the villa and Crete.

Lovely complete villa for relaxing vacation

On a quiet place, in a little village Kare, you will find this very lovely complete villa. Everything you need is there. We visited the villa with 2 adults and 3 teenagers. All the rooms has nice beds and a bathroom. With the "master" bedroom comes a bathroom with bubblebath and a complete shower... The views are beautiful!. The swimming pool is (not warmed) nice and in the veranda you will sit and drink your pre-dinner drink or play some cards (we did!)... It's a lovely place. In the area there is a very lovely restaurant Goules. About 1.5 kilometers from the villa in Goulediana you will find this no nonsense taverna where Kostas, the owner, really makes you feel welcome. We have visited this taverna many times! In Rethymnon, you will find many shops and taverna's. It is a very various, nice place with a lot of tavernas. We also visited the Beach club BajaBeach in Rethymnon a view times. The rest of Kreta, you have to explore. For everyone there is something to do!!! We will come back again!

Great Vacation in Crete

The Villa Kleanthi is a great place to live. the Villa is very spacious , built by an architect and you can feel it immediately when you arrive. every détails in the design, in the material used and in the different room dispatch are really well thought . The villa is also ideally located in Crete allowing you to easily visit the center and the west part of the island . you're never far from the big cities ( Rethymnon and Chania) , but also only 20mn from the beaches from North and South. if you prefer to stay in the villa , you can enjoy the pool, the Olive trees all around and all the accomodation within the villa like the Sauna shower or the bath with bubbles . you have few taverns close , i especially recommend the Goules one based in Goulediana and owned by Kostas , definetely the best cooker from Crete ! the village of Armenoi , close to the villa is offering a lot of commodities like supermarkets, gas stations, bakery and also several taverns . i really recommend the villa Kleanthi for your next vacations.
