Live like a local at Oceanfront Harmony, a professionally managed and operated vacation rental located -- as the name says -- on the oceanfront. This 4- bedroom, 3-bathroom classic Hawaiian historic home, is fully equipped with large kitchen, bar area, living room, private decks, and "al fresco" lanai/dining room, offering plenty of space for friends and family. Sleeps 7 comfortably. Works well for multi generation families (grandparents and parents in two bedrooms with King beds) and kids in the other rooms; we've also hosted several couples or groups of friends. Enjoy gorgeous ocean views and stunning sunrises/sunsets within a charming Kauai neighborhood.

Fuji Beach (aka Baby's Beach) for gentle swimming is right outside the front door, and some of the best beaches on the island are just a short walk or bike ride away. You'll have easy access by hopping on the 7-mile bike path that runs along Kauai's eastern "coconut coast" just in front of the home. Located minutes away from historic Kapa'a town with plenty of shopping and restaurant options. Also convenient to both the north and south shores of Kauai, the Wailua river (waterfalls and kayaking!), and all the breathtaking scenery the island has to offer. Comes fully equipped with all the comforts of home....plus the sound of the ocean waves to soothe you to sleep.

The "cabana" next to the water provides a great covered area for lounging, dining, reading, grilling, doing yoga or just hanging out. We recently upgraded the internet connectivity to better accommodate those who will be working from paradise. We also have a variety of beach equipment for you to use, including towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, yoga mats, a cooler and an umbrella.

Need space for 11? Inquire about renting both Oceanfront Harmony (sleeps 7) and our sister property, Oceanfront Rhythm (sleeps 4) to accommodate the entire gang!

Finally, please note that the property is located in the Tsunami Evacuation Zone. A map with evacuation procedures is provided in the home.

This VRBO property was amazing! It comfortably accommodated 7 adults. Great location-directly across from Baby Beach and Fuji Beach; walking distance to food establishments and shopping; short driving distance to Safeway, Starbucks etc. Also not far from Lihue airport. The home is equipped with all the necessary kitchen tools and appliances, many fans to cool off the rooms; a dining lanai, a cabana for outdoor visiting, and an outdoor shower (that was very popular)!Host is terrific! She was very quick to respond to questions, and was very kind to us. When given the opportunity to visit Kauai again, we will definitely consider this beautiful home again!

We are three old friends who travel together every few years. We can afford expensive hotel rooms but prefer the comfort and convenience of a rental house. This home was perfect for us: three nice bedrooms and three full bathrooms with a well equipped kitchen, large dining room and plenty of outdoor space. It is within easy walking distance of some excellent restaurants. Equally important, our host, Ellen was fantastic; she volunteered lots of helpful information, was always available if we had a question and even gave us a late checkout.

Beautiful Spot

Had a wonderful time. House worked out perfectly for our family and we enjoyed grilling and playing games in the cabana area. Great location just next to a fabulous walking trail and close to town. Hosts were incredibly responsive to any of our requests. Really enjoyed our time here.

Location, Location, Location

This was a perfect home for our family trip! It had everything we needed for 7 of us. The beach was right there for taking a dip after our days adventures. Kapaa is our favorite part of the island, right in the middle of everything.

Nice quaint get-away

Quaint, nicely equipped, historical type house in a quiet traditional neighbourhood. Having the walking path and beach literally off your front porch is a great feature. Morning coffee and evening cocktails over looking the surf were great ways to start and end your day.would highly recommend this place and look forward to returning.

Beautiful stay

A beautiful home right off the shore of the ocean. Location was super convenient to catch the beautiful sunrises and swim throughout the day. The cabana had everything we needed for the beach and towels and bags throughout the house for our convenience. The living room was comfortable with great outdoor spaces for meals, recreation and socializing. The house was also in a great location on the island allowing for easy trips to any location.

Oceanfront house

The location of this house is perfect - near the beach and walkable distance to grocery stores. It was comfortable for our family and the kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and utensils. The property owner was extremely responsive to all my questions and requests, even delivering propane for the barbecue on Christmas morning!

Best Vacation Ever!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Oceanfront Harmony. The house was perfect for our family group ages 16-83. We enjoyed the outdoor space & even grilled the tuna that we caught one evening. The location is perfect- we've stayed farther north in Anahola and much prefer being right in Kapa'a. We walked the beach almost every morning and walked into town for groceries & treats. Ellen is an excellent host- she provided us with so much great information on activities and restaurants. If we are fortunate enough to return to Kauai, we will definitely stay here again.

This was an amazing place for a family vacation! From the porch we could see sunrise AND moonrise over the ocean and from every room you hear the ocean's waves. Outdoor yard is perfect for kids to run around safely and the outdoor cabana is great for games and dinners. The outdoor shower is such a nice touch for washing off after a day at the beach. A sweet protected cove beach is steps away (a large area only a couple of feet deep for smaller kids... or adults who just want to float and not fight waves). The kitchen is well stocked for making meals and the common areas are very comfortable and roomy.The location can't be beat as it is convenient to stores, food trucks and a lovely little town. The bike path is amazing and I really recommend renting bikes for a sunrise or sunset ride up the coast.Finally, our hosts were amazing. Once we booked, we filled out a form about preferences and Ellen created a 20 page recommendation vacation package focusing on activities, foods/restaurants that covered the whole island...complete with weblinks to plan our trip. The welcome basket was the most generous I've ever had with a rental home.

This is an older home with need for some repairs, screens, window framing, lanai slider but it was clean and right across the bike path from the beach. Host Ellen responded quickly to our messages and helpful in recommending activities. It was unseasonably hot during our stay and the home, like many in hawaii, does not have air conditioning, but plenty of fans and windows to catch the breeze.The front two bedrooms could use a mattress topper as the beds were very firm.

Great location- local ambiance

This house is in South Kapaa so you miss the traffic when going south. It’s in a neighborhood and a few steps from a beach that locals use. We loved the walking path to beach and town. The host, Ellen, was so nice and very accommodating. The house is an older island home so it has some wear and tear, but is clean, spacious and very comfortable for large groups- we were 5 adults and 2 children.

Perfect vacation location

This house is amazing with the indoor living spaces and the outdoor space. We had 6 adults in our party and everyone was very impressed. The sound of the ocean was great. Just across the bike path was the beach. Walking distance to town and groceries. The beach supplies were perfect. Cooler, boogie boards, chairs, snorkeling gear made it so easy to plan your outings. I would highly recommend this vacation house.

This home truly made our Kaua‘i dreams come true.The location was ideal—perfectly situated in Kapa‘a, which gave us easy access to both the north and south shores without long drives. Kapa‘a itself is an absolute gem: charming, peaceful, and full of local character.Each morning, we woke up to the sound of crashing waves and stunning ocean views—it felt like paradise. The nearby coastal bike path is scenic and relaxing, and the town has everything you could need, including some of the best coffee shops and restaurants on the island.Ellen was an exceptional host—warm, responsive, and truly went above and beyond to ensure we felt at home.We would absolutely recommend this property to our friends and family, and we can’t wait to return ourselves!

Family Reunion in Kauai

The stay at Oceanfront Harmony was fantastic! Six adults stayed in Oceanfront Harmony and four adults stayed in the neighboring property Oceanfront Rhythm. There was plenty of room for everyone. The neighborhood was nice. Ellen was a fabulous hostess. She is very kind. She checked in with us a couple times to see how we were doing. She was readily available to answer questions.

Beach house

Beautiful location walking distance to grocery stores, shopping, 4 beaches and restaurants! Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. Loved the in and outdoor games. Only drawback, being from dry Colorado was the hot humid house. It has a whole house fan, ceiling fans, floor fans but was still hot enough I didn’t sleep at night.

Spring Break with the extended family

Great place for our extended family to vacation together. The two elementary age grandkids each had a small room of their own with a desk, which our granddaughter used for her drawing. The adults’ accommodations were good. We used the screened in porch for most meals. The shared cabana was a good location for yoga or relaxing with a book. We enjoyed walking or jogging along the shoreline paved path that passed Baby Beach and other nice beaches for swimming. Another nice family was staying at the adjoining property and all the kids had a great time playing together. Ellen was very helpful in sending emails with lots of ideas on things to do.

Issues

Great location, but the house was not clean, and had roaches. Needs major attention and good cleaning. The outdoor seating area hasn’t been cleaned in a while. The Jack and Jill bathroom didn’t have hot water. The hosts were very nice but I would not recommend until these issues are taken care of after each renter.

Family Vacation

There is not enough positive things I can say about the Ocean Front properties. The homes were very clean when we arrived, with a wonderful welcoming gift basket in each house. Mrs Ellen was extremely helpful by sending me a full list of recommendations for activities, beaches and restaurants. The houses comfortably accommodated 11 people ranging from 15-69 years old for 10 days. Mrs Ellen stopped in to check on us, provided us with whatever we needed, and brought her puppies by to allow the kids to get in all the dog loving they could handle. The location is absolutely perfect. We grilled nightly, played yard Yahtzee, corn hole, and cards. We were able to watch the sunrise everyday from the front yard and the beach. We were provided with coolers, chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas and all the sand toys! I can’t wait to return for another visit with this amazing host and property. 10/10 recommend.

Amazing Stay at Ocean Front Harmony!

Ocean Front Harmony was the perfect place for our group of seven (two families - 4 adults, 3 kids) to kick off our Kauai adventure. The house was true to the description and pictures. Gorgeous ocean views, a beautiful yard with plenty of space for the kids to run around and a central location from which to explore the island. Inside, the layout of the house was perfect for our group. The kids took over the back two bedrooms and bathroom and the adult couples each had bedrooms and bathrooms of our own. We never felt cramped. The kitchen was well stocked with all the things needed to cook a home meal and the bathrooms had plenty of towels for everyone. There were also boogie boards, beach chairs, beach bags, beach umbrella, snorkel gear, and a cooler for our almost daily beach excursions. Ellen, out host was exceptional! She provided us with a detailed list of things to do in the area and beyond, based on our interests. She was also super responsive and checked in periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. We could tell just how much effort she puts into making her guests feel welcome and ensuring they have a wonderful stay. She is the best host we have ever come across. We would recommend this house and Ellen to anyone looking for a place to stay in Kauai. We can't wait to be back!

This was a great house for our family trip to Kauai. We really enjoyed our stay and could not ask for a better host. Ellen went out of her way to help us prepare for our trip, made us feel welcome when we got there and checked in on us throughout the trip. The location of the house is also perfect. You are steps from the beach and can see some fantastic sunrises, as well as right on the walk/bike path that will take you right into town. Kapa’a is great little town with some very cute shops and restaurants. Kapa’a is also centrally located and we were able to get around the island very easily. The living spaces were also great. There was plenty of room for our group of 6. We loved the outdoor spaces and spent many nights playing games and chatting in the covered dining area and shared outside space. The beds were comfortable but the back rooms did get a little warm, even with the provided fans. The primary bedroom had a great breeze from the ocean. One thing to note that took us a little by surprise was that you have to walk through the twin bedroom and Jack and Jill bath to get to the bedroom with a queen bed. It wasn’t a big deal, but required some coordination between my college aged children and when they could or couldn’t open doors. The only negative we had with the house is that we had some issues with the oven working. We let Ellen know and I’m sure it will be resolved quickly. I would 100% stay in this house, or the adjacent property, in the first future.

Huge, well-stocked, great property and location!

The house was meticulous and very spacious for our party of 4 adults plus 2 kids. It's rare to find such a large place on Kauai. Loved all the outdoor seating and private yard, the screened in porch, and heated outdoor shower. The nearby beach is best for sunbathing and wading with the toddler, which we did almost daily! This is the best stocked rental I've ever stayed at!! PLENTY of needed supplies (not just a few random things, but a surplus of everything you need - detergent, paper towels, beach towels, USEFUL kitchen supplies, beach gear, baby gear, etc.). It sounds odd but I especially appreciated the tupperware! Ellen was very welcoming and helpful, left the lights on for our late arrival, and left the BEST welcome gifts (fresh pineapple and a sampling of local foods)! Remember air conditioning is rare on Kauai and the house does get very hot during the day. The house fan and multiple ceiling fans in every room are crucial! Would definitely rent here again.

We delight in sharing Oceanfront Harmony with guests from all over the world. You may see us bike riding or walking our dogs (two Aussies!) along the bike path from our home just down the street. We love the neighborhood, the restaurants, the beaches, and think there is no better place on earth than the eastern shores of Kauai. We are always available if you have questions about the area or recommendations, or if you need any other assistance during your stay.

If you want an authentic Hawaiian experience living among the locals in a "real" Hawaiian neighborhood, away from the tourists but close to all the amenities and action, this is the place for you. You'll be close to both the north and south shores of the island, with easy access to Waimea on the west, while staying in the heart of historic Kapa'a Town and its plentiful shopping, dining and fantastic nearby beaches. As a dedicated vacation rental, Oceanfront Rhythm and Harmony are professionally cleaned and designed with the traveler in mind, meaning you won't be living in someone else's home. But, we've put all the care into decorating and designing it as if it was our home, so you get the best of both worlds. We would be honored to have you as our guest.

At Oceanfront, we are committed to supporting our local community. We provide our guests with a gift basket with locally made treats, such as honey from our local beekeeper and coffee from our local roaster. We also believe in sharing with the community and donate 5% of our proceeds to local non-profit organizations, such as Foodbank Kauai, Friendship House Kauai, Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park, and the YWCA Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services. We also want to make sure you have all the information you need to make your trip memorable. Want to relax? We'll tell you about the best beaches. Interested in wellness? We'll tell you about massage therapies, farmers markets and yoga studios. Outdoor activities? We'll tell you about the best hiking, farm tours, botanical gardens, NaPali Coast tours and snorkeling. Interested in extreme adventures? We'll tell you about helicopter tours, ziplining, ATV tours and more. Some visitors ask if the Oceanfront Cottages are air conditioned. The answer is no . . . intentionally. While condos (which may not have cross-ventilation and can trap heat) or inland homes (which do not get fresh air circulating off the ocean) may need air conditioning to be comfortable, this is not true of a home on the ocean with lots of windows. At Oceanfront, you can live in harmony with the natural environment and have a richer connection to the trade winds, the sounds of the waves lapping on the shore, the delicate scent of the ocean air, the feel of the sunshine and the gentle breezes. No closed up spaces with air conditioning to steal away from the experience and romance of the Pacific Tropics. Instead, you are invited to embrace the rhythm and grace of the Hawaiian climate; it will stay resident in your soul for months . . . or years from now. If vacationing in conditioned air, Kauai may just be another postcard view out your window . . . the soul on ice!
