Summer 2026 Great house near town in a private setting

Great house available on lovely Block Island, Rhode Island, often referred to as 'The Bermuda of the North'.

Home offers 3 bedrooms (1 King, 1 queen and children's room with 2 twins and 2 twin trundles), loft over family room has additional queen bed. This house has it all, fully equipped kitchen (well stocked, lots of counter space, EIK, and TV), mudroom (additional entrance with washer/dryer, extra sink, and plenty of storage for supplies and beach gear), LOTS of living space with a living room, family room and great room adjoining deck overlooking mature yard (perfect for family gatherings, outdoor dining and yard games). Home backs to nature trails and green acres. Quite pond in front of the house.

House is in a private location but only a 10 min walk into town.

Included in the rental: Beach gear (chairs and towels) Linens (sheets, pillows, blankets and bath towels) and garbage removal. In addition, the house has supply of baby gear if needed (pack and play, high chair, gates)

Enjoy a great family get-away this summer!

Reduced weekly rates Sept/Oct are available.

The perfect island getaway

We absolutely adored our time staying at the Mcaloon house and will definitely be coming back. Block island was a great getaway and the hospitality of our host made us feel immediately at home.

Unforgettable Stay on Block Island

This home was the perfect place for bringing our family and friends together. Beautiful, welcoming, and full of charm, it gave us the space to relax, laugh, and make lasting memories. The location was ideal – central, scenic, and very walkable. Truly an unforgettable getaway.

Wonderful Stay

Was a great stay that had everything we could want at an incredibly convenient location. We loved seeing all of the Deer in the yard every morning and evening!

Clean place in a great location with lots of room for hosting on the deck and in the great room. The kitchen is great for preparing meals, expecially with two sinks! We had an excellent time and the great house helped with that big time.The only surprise was that a caretaker lived in a separate section of the house. She was nice, quiet and we didn't have any issues with it whatsoever, but it wasn't obvious that was the situation going into it.

Beautiful home - perfect for a group

We had a group of family and friends ages 21 months to 78 years old stay at this beautiful home. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor space for all to enjoy. The house was clean and well stocked (including linens-which was wonderful) and the owner and caretaker are wonderful! We definitely recommend this home!

Great place for a family getaway

I really enjoyed our stay. The caretaker met us at the house and showed us the layout. The house was clean and the kitchen had all the utensils, etc. needed. One member of our party wanted to be more in town but the ferry was an easy walk without alot of luggage. I will stay her again!!!! I recommend the property.

The house was a bit dated but lovely overall and pictures are current/accurate. Sheets were provided but needed to make beds upon arrival. Second full bath is a very small bath if the house is very full so sharing the master bath is a must. The one thing that wasn’t mentioned in the property details that was a bit surprising, was the property manager lives in an apartment/room under the house in the basement. She has her own entrance & we never saw her but I feel as though the description should make you aware of that prior to booking. We found out at check in.

Great location & yard

Really enjoyed the location of this house. Great to walk to town in just a few minutes. Hosts were very responsive and nice. Guests should know that loft bedroom has low ceiling and very steep steps. Railing needs to be installed for safety. Also piano needs tuning, not playable. We were surprised at the slight smoky smell throughout the house & the furniture is dated. Kitchen is well-equipped. Great space!

Beautiful Classic House

This house is larger that appearances would have you believe and wonderfully laid out. It is an old dwelling and has some perks that should be expected. We rented the house while we were on Block Island for a work project. The opening foyer is quaint and matches the living room with its cleanliness and historic furnishings. The kitchen is modern, looks recently renovated and is a culinary paradise. The best room however is the addition on the left side of the house. Large and comfortable with plenty of windows and access to the party size porch. The caretaker who lives in the basement apartment is charming and eager to supply information about the local eateries and events.

Great location

Stayed at this property for a wedding. The location was close to everything and the house was perfect. Huge spacious rooms, and property manager was extremely responsive. We would love to be able to stay here again!

Great location and great entertaining house

We had a party of 10 people stay in this house which included two teenage girls and two pre-teen boys. The house had plenty of space and loved having the linens already at the house. The kitchen was so spacious and had everything you could imagine in the kitchen - new toaster, two types of coffee pots, double oven, two fridges, huge kitchen table. We loved the sun room. We sat and played games and had plenty of space. The owners were great and very quick to answer any questions we had! Thank you for an awesome week!

CY22 Block Trip

We spent the last week in Block with 2 other couples. We have been there many times in years prior but never to this house. This place was in a great location to downtown & the beaches. The family who owns it was very nice. The property was very spacious from the living rooms to the yard. Would recommend to others.

Overall a great property that we had a lot of fun at. Fully stocked with essentials like towels, soap, cleaning supplies etc that made the stay seamless. Easy access to town and the rest of the island. Note that the house is a little close to the airport, so there are some flights during the day.

Great location to town

We were looking for a house for a group of our friends and family and this was perfect! Large home with lots of space to spread out. A fully stocked kitchen, all linens and towels included. Upon entry I noticed how clean it smelled and looked…super important thank you! Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Washer and dryer which we used each day. Huge deck to hang out on and a great room with doors so the kids could stay up late at night 😊😊 and not wake us up. Make note that it’s located at the landing side of the airport. Didn’t bother us much as they only fly during the day, but it starts at 7ish AM and landing is quieter than take off. Other was the master bedroom was missing a shade that had broke. We would definitely go back to this awesome home!!!!!

Wonderful BI Home!

Meredith's place was in a fantastic location on Block Island, close to the main town area and also not far from New Harbor and beaches. Our girls trip ended up having a rainy weekend, but were still able to have a fantastic trip eating out and hanging in the large common spaces in Meredith's home. It was great that propane, towels, and lots of other amenities were provided. Meredith was also flexible and communicative about checkin and checkout times and processes. There is also plenty of space to park, should you bring a car over. Thank you, Meredith and Shannon, and we hope to stay again!

Wonderful Family Home

Comfortable family home with lots of space on beautiful piece of property. Well equipped kitchen and a bar in the great room. Big deck allowed for wildlife sightings and a comfortable place for cocktail hour. Meredith was easy to connect with. Would definitely stay there again.

Block Island Getaway

Our small family of four had a great visit to the Island and very much enjoyed staying at this property. Great communication and professionalism from the home owner - as well as being friendly and helpful. A wonderful stay and special experience to celebrate a family wedding.

Excellent house!

We had a wonderful time at the McAloon house! The property is great for lawn games and the house is a great size for 10 people. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for the entire stay and spent most of our time either at the beach or in the back lawn/deck area. I have no complaints about the house or the rental process, except by my own fault I did not read all the check-in instructions and did not have my security deposit ready on arrival. Best house we have stayed at on Block!

Beautiful Home and Easy Process

A beautiful home with plenty of space. We stayed at this property in June 2020, the same weekend Block Island eased some of its COVID-related restrictions. The home and all extras, like towels, appliances, seat cushions, etc. we’re thoroughly sanitized by what we assume was a professional cleaning company. The check-in process was easy and Shannon and Meredith were great throughout the process. Two thumbs up!!

The house is well equipped and has lots of living space. The great room offers a gathering room which opens to the porch, giving multiple eating/cooking/seating options. There is a family room adjacent to the great room with TV and games and an additional living room off the kitchen that can serve as extra living space or an area to answer emails/Zoom calls away for the group if needed.
A caretakers apartment is on site with separate entrance and access.
