Come stay in the newly restored 1925 Fulwiler House, one of the most iconic homes in Abilene. Located in the Sayles-Highland Neighborhood near bustling downtown, Expo Center, and local colleges, the Fulwiler House is a 6-bedroom, 2.5-bath mansion on the National Register of Historic Places. The home is fully furnished with antiques for your family and friends to create memorable experiences while you visit the West Texas Frontier. A museum-like experience with the warmth and feel of home.

History abounds in this 4,742 square-foot home which includes 6 Bedrooms (2 Kings, 3 Doubles, 2 twins) with provided linens. 2.5 elegant bathrooms include toiletries and deluxe towels. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking, including serve ware. Large fenced in back lot with climbing trees and room for outdoor games. Side gardens with large al-fresco dining. Pantry and Refrigerator are stocked with food basics. On-site washer and dryer with laundry supplies. Flexible check-in and out. Entire space plus amenities are included in this rental. Please make yourself at home!

We love West Texas and Abilene and hope you do, too. Whether it is your first visit to the Big Country or you live in Abilene, we are happy to give you as much advice as wanted. Make sure and visit Abileneā€™s revitalized downtown, walk the homeā€™s historic Sayles-Highland Neighborhood, eat a steak at famed Tom Periniā€™s Steakhouse in our hometown of Buffalo Gap, immerse yourself in art at The Grace Museum, dive into childrenā€™s illustrated art at The NCCIL, and enjoy a unique shopping experience at Lone Star Dry Goods. A list of our favorite things to do is provided in the kitchen for your convenience.

We are here for you for your stay, but our level of interaction is up to you. We are only a phone call or message away. You will be able to self-check-in upon arrival. Please remember this home is old and historic, so please treat it with the respect it deserves. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on site.

House was great, we really enjoyed it. Wish the elevator worked. We are all siblings ages 64 to 77. The stairs were slot on these old bones. Kitchen was well stocked, along with the laundry room, game room and coffee bar. The house is beautiful.

Thank you for a great stay! We had a mini-family reunion and thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend. The kitchen pantry was well stocked and the house served our needs well. We met family from Mississippi, Texas, and New Mexico at this central location. To commemmorate our weekend, Katie agreed to let us pick a few wildflowers from the location and we put them in resin as a craft

Amazing Place for Large Group!

My bridal party and I stayed here the night before the wedding. There were plenty of comfy beds for everyone! And the large common spaces were perfect for Hair and Makeup and meals! There are so many thoughtful details in this home that made it feel so perfect! Not to mention it is stunning! The host was amazing and even left Prosecco and pastries for us! Couldnā€™t recommend it more!

What a wonderful house and hosts!!!!

My husband and I, along with our two daughters and their husbands with my 2 1/2 year old grandson stayed at this wonderful mansion for Thursday through Sunday for our sonā€™s pwedding. My son stayed Thursday night and then our good friend stayed Friday and Saturday. My sister also stayed. The house is amazing. My grandson says he wants to go back to the house. The host, Katie, thought of everything. We were welcomed with wine and sweets from a local bakery. Katie had a closet full of items like shampoo, body was, etc. in case we forgot ours. The towels were nice and ample. The beds are comfortable. The whole place is amazing. The history of the house is fascinating. There was so much room. My son had a couple of photos taken there as the groomsmen got dressed and posed in the magnificent stairs. I canā€™t say enough about how splendid our stay was! I highly recommend this beautiful place!

Wedding in a small town!

Our stay at this home was amazing, we were in town for a wedding, thereā€™s plenty of space and bedrooms there. Wall of the rooms were decorated and were completely comfortable to either hang out or catch an afternoon nap up stairs. We spent time drinking coffee on the enclosed porch.

Wonderful Gem in Abilene

Was a perfect place for our family, my wife and me, 3 adult children and two small grandkids. Feels more like staying in a historic inn. Allowed us to stay together, but spread out a bit! Amenities are well stocked. Sarah was responsive, communicative and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again!

Family Visit

The house is amazing! I rented it for our daughter-in-law's family, who came to visit from Chicago. They were genuinely amazed by how beautiful and gorgeous the house is. The stunning interior design, spacious layout, and attention to detail truly made a lasting impression. The house was not only visually stunning but also exceptionally clean. The owners went the extra mile by providing a closet filled with bathroom essentials, which was a thoughtful touch. Additionally, they thoughtfully stocked some snacks and beverages for the guests to enjoy. After such a remarkable experience, I can confidently say that if our family comes to visit us again, we will undoubtedly choose this house. Family Wedding

We gathered for a family wedding and staying at this beautiful house made the weekend all the more special! We loved sitting outside and gathering in the upstairs sitting room for coffee in the morning and games in the afternoon. It was the absolute perfect weekend!

Katie was amazing. She communicated with me well before check in so I knew what to expect and what was available to us at the house. She left us the cutest welcome basket and homemade babka. The house has so much character and history. We loved all the little touches. This was the perfect way to spend Christmas with our family! Highly recommend.

The house was in great shape, beautifully decorated for Christmas, stocked with everything we needed, and the game table in the basement and game room were perfect to help entertain the kids. Great place to celebrate early Christmas with our growing family needing plenty of sleeping space. Very enjoyable stay.

A taste of Grandeur

The Fulwiler house is a beautiful property in a nice neighborhood and Katie Browning is a very helpful and attentive host. The kitchen is well equipped and the rest of the house very nicely furnished and appointed. If you have ever wanted to experience what life would be like in an early 20th century mansion, don't miss this opportunity. From the many rooms to the superb walnut paneling to the beautiful hall and grand staircase, this house has it all. Eleven of us had a very memorable Thanksgiving holiday week here.

2022 October - Family member wedding event

Our group (8 adults & 4 kids) were extremely pleased with our stay. The house was everything we had planned and was a marvelous place to stay. We had plenty of room for all of our group yo sleep, eat, and have fun. We would highly recommend this place snd would easily stay again if back to Abilene.

The perfect spot

Elegant Stay for Wedding Weekend

This property is a stately manor with charming touches. It was the cleanest property we have ever stayed in. The beds were so comfortable and all of the extra touches that the owner had there for us were perfect. We were so comfortable and happy in the house we ordered take out rather than going out to eat. The screened in patio off the kitchen was so nice for our morning coffee. If our travels ever lead us back to Abilene this will be the place we stay!!

Extremely well stocked and furnished property with plenty of sleeping options. Gave the stay 4/5 stars just because the place was run down in spots and showing itā€™s age and lack of care. Overall for the price, the house was good.
