Wonderful Time at Makani A Kai!

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at this property. It’s perfectly located within 20 minutes from the airport in a quieter part of the island yet close enough to drive to many neighboring areas and enjoy the attractions and restaurants. Perfect balance of a peaceful and engaging active getaway!

Maui

The condo was great! The location was nice for going to Kihei and Lahaina. Would’ve been nice to have more seasoning and such for preparing food. Kids loved the boogie boards!

Great Value for Maui

We stayed for a few nights to extend a corporate event at a resort in Wailea. It was a great value for two couples. The condo was clean and well equipped. A short walk to the marina gave us lots of places to eat and explore. We reccomend the General Store for breakfast and sandwiches. The complex is next to a public park that was quite lively. It made for good people watching but we did sacrifice some quiet.

PANORAMIC VIEWS

Panoramic views. Condo was user friendly and had everything we needed. We visited during whale season and were able to see them everyday, even through our gorgeous full height bedroom window. Central to all locations. We had a portable air conditioner in the upstairs master and could have used one in the downstairs bedroom. We would most definitely stay here again! Mahalo!

Lovely, peaceful stay

This is an older property, well-maintained, nestled in near the harbor at Ma'alaea. The grounds are gorgeous and there is a very nice, very clean pool on the grounds. The condo itself was spacious, well-appointed, and offered a nice view of the harbor. Unlike some of the adjacent properties, this one is on a sandy beach which is just a minute or two from the condo. Others nearby just have abrupt, rocky drop offs, but this is a real little beach. The small park nearby is sweet and we enjoyed some beautiful morning yoga there, looking out at the ocean. The property manager could not have been more helpful and the owners were supportive and treated us very fairly when a small issue came up. We loved this place and would gladly stay there again.

Great location right next to the beach

We were very happy with this rental and with quick responses from the rental agency to answer questions. It is literally a 30 second walk to the beach where we were able to snorkel on calm water days. We even saw sea turtles right off the shore. The condo has A/C in both bedrooms and in the living area which was a blessing. It was only a 15 minute drive to the airport and a 15-30 minute drive up the West coast of Maui to many wonderful beaches. We were also located less than a mile from the harbor where daily snorkel tours depart. We visited the Kihei Food Truck park several times and had great food. But if you are looking for a condo with upscale restaurants nearby this isn't it. We would have had to drive to a neighboring town for that. It was a really great stay and we thank the owners for making this condo rental available.

No table, crappy a/c, upstairs b/r is a death trap. Bed area is raised BUT step DOWN into closet??? Step down next to bed to exterior windows with windows that do not open. Pay attention or a fall Is probable. A/C units in the room, not thru a wall, IN THE ROOM. Do not remember seeing that in pics or description. Instructions for unit were outdated in some areas. WiFi was wrong, no idea how to watch TV although NetFlix and Amazon were ok. A note about recycling would have been nice, only found what was recyclable when we threw out garbage. Beach chairs, towels and boogie boards was good. Beach shown in pictures is public beach, not on property. All in all, Hawaii, great, condo, not so much. Downstairs bathroom tub was difficult to enter with no bar for aid.

Pictures in the advertisement listing are taken directly from the property- there is no table showing inside as the owner provides an outdoor table with chairs. There is a portable AC in each bedroom and a wall AC in the living room as advertised. We would have been happy to help instruct you on how to access WIFI and TV- we have team members in the area every day :) Beach outside of the complex is directly accessible from the property which we hope you had enjoyed too.

Walked into an oven…

We enjoyed the quiet location and ocean view - the interior was nicely decorated, but… after a long day flying over from the Big Island, driving around and doing a little hiking, when we arrived (didn’t receive notice to check-in till about 4:15pm), all we wanted was to get in, clean up, and go have some supper. It was pleasant outside, but then we walked into our unit and it was easily over 85 degrees with no A/C running. The main unit in the living area looked like it had been there since the 70’s and even with it running 24/7, that room barely was comfortable. Yes, as listed, there were 2 newer units in each of the bedrooms, but when a place is that hot, it took a very long time to get cool-ish. The bedroom on the main floor had a door to close and cool that small space, so it wasn’t as much of an issue - that is until you stepped into the bathroom with no window or ventilation and began sweating. The bedroom upstairs was another story - with no doors to the room, a high ceiling, and the ceiling fan not blowing down on you to help feel circulation, it was rarely ever cool enough - and the bathroom upstairs was again, stuffy with no ventilation or air movement and just continually warm/hot (even a cool shower didn’t seem to help). It was a lovely unit, but with the open layout, all of the hot air in the unit ended upstairs in the master bedroom and even with the units running continuously, never felt cool enough. Disappointing to say the least, might work in winter.

Awe Darn Julie! We were able to check on the AC in the living room after your departure and noticed that it was not cooling appropriately as when we had it on for your arrival. There is a timer on in the living room where the AC turns off after 12 hours. If we had known, we would have been in right away to replace - We do have a new AC in the unit now!

Beach was great for walking!

The layout of the unit was excellent and it was well equipped for beach activities. The kitchen was one of the best equipped rental units we have ever stayed in. The unit was very clean. Living room chairs were very tired but beds were comfy and bathrooms nice.Great view from balcony/lanai to the beach. Our only surprise was there was a public camp ground directly beside the unit and at one point a bouncy castle was erected almost under our lanai as it is right on the property line. Hawaiians are free to camp on any public beach however we found it to be a bit of an eye sore as it did take away from beach view.

Aloha Carolyn! So happy to hear you enjoyed the condo from Mar 23, 2022 Wedsnesday - Mar 29, 2022 Saturday. The weekend and holidays tend to be busier with families and the culture revolving around the water. Spring break was here and school is out, with very few places for the locals to take their families to enjoy their break. We understand that It is NOT allowed to camp on any beach- but only when fishing. We do apologize that you experienced blocked views of the ocean on the public beach access side. Typically Maalaea is known for being very quiet and enjoyable due to being "off the beaten path". We hope that you enjoyed your stay and you were able to leave with many happy memories created. Small development & Peaceful location with good beach vie

Everything I could have asked for. The small condo development is adjacent to a 2 mile undeveloped beach. The condo's amenities were B+. It was a pleasure watching the local families use the adjacent county park.

Really nice property!

This is one of the nicest condos that we have rented in Hawaii. We really like to cook when we are in a condo and this one was very well appointed. Had everything we needed and everything was in good condition. The view was beautiful the property was very well-maintained and the beach was lovely. We will definitely be back. The only two downsides were the fact that the stairs to the master bedroom are fairly narrow and steep so could present an issue if anybody has mobility issues. The other was the laundry room. Very old machines requiring an app for payments that did not work very well. Otherwise an awesome location!

Loved it

We loved it!! Everything was great. One thing needs to be fixed...the freezer door will not close completely no matter what you do. It needs a new seal or you need a new refrigerator.

Great location - amazing view

We had an amazing stay And enjoyed walking the beach every morning and evening. The turtles are out playing all day long. The unit had everything that we could possibly need and is situated in a wonderful Small complex. It does not feel touristy at all. We enjoy this area because of the convenience of getting to all the different parts of the island as well as the adjacent beach that is very tranquil. We highly recommend!

Lovely Relaxing Week

Our stay was lovely and the unit is well-appointed, though not necessarily island themed. The stairs might require a little caution if mobility is an issue. Everything was clean and the kitchen is very well equipped.

Great waterfront location just steps from the sand on a great beach

Check-in process was super easy with a code box. All instructions were clear and easy to follow. All electronics in the unit worked and easy to use. We loved the decoration and style of the place as well as how the location was ideal with ocean views and literally steps from the sand on a great beach and a great neighborhood. We also enjoyed using the pool with ocean views. I would stay here again any time.

Beach Access a Plus

Although this is not the prettiest part of Maui, the direct beach access came as a nice surprise and the pool was kept very clean. Because of how the condo is situated, people will want to keep the curtains shut to keep out the sun. The upstairs gets quite warm and it is necessary to have four fans runing, including the AC uint while you sleep.

Cool Place!

My husband and I stayed with two friends at this place and enjoyed our time here! Was nice to walk to a beach right nearby. We did have to drive 15-20 minutes to go to the major beaches/nice restaurants that we wanted to go to, but we had a rental car so it wasn't a big deal. Overall we had a positive experience!

Would stay again!

4 adults stayed, we had a great time! This location is perfect for all ages. The water is calm in this area, very quiet. There’s a park next door with light activity, usually locals fishing. The unit was well equipped with everything you need. Boogie boards, beach towels, kitchen supplies and pantry under the stairs. There is so much sea life right outside, we saw many humpback whales, and snorkeled right out front with turtles. The communication with the host was very easy. We recommend staying and would return.

Quiet condo and beach

Loved staying here, but would have appreciated a better description of the upstairs area. Stairs are steep and very narrow, with several changes in elevation to get to bathroom, closet and windows. As someone who has a mild disability, stairs are not usually a big deal, but the uneven floor levels and the narrowness of the stairs presented a problem every time I used them. Otherwise would recommend this for other friends.

Nice comfortable condo near beach

We had a lovely stay here. The condo looks out onto the garden and beach which is a stroll through the tropical garden and pool area to access the beach.

Makani A Kia Resort in Maalaea

First time our family came to vacation in Maui. Condo B8 in Makani A Kia was very good. Nice beach side access and central location to all of Maui.
