Ocean Views in Corolla! See the Horses! Covered Deck! 100 Yards to the Water!

Just steps from the beach, "China Swan" is a 3-level house with an awesome wrap-around covered deck. The porch is perfect for watching the sunrise and sunset, as well as the local wild horses!

The house is located 3 miles up the beach from where the paved road ends at Corolla. A 4x4 vehicle is required! Driving conditions on the beach vary hourly depending on traffic, weather and tides.

Main level includes great room, dining room, family room with satellite TV, kitchen and laundry. Wrap-around covered deck, open sun deck and screened porch. Enjoy the views from the hammock and porch swing.

Upper level has 3 bedrooms. Flat screen TV in every room. Master bedroom has its own bathroom, and ocean and sound views. One bedroom with two beds. One bedroom with ship's watch...see the sunrise from bed! Upper level also has full bath with whirlpool.

Game room on the lower level with bunk beds and sleeper sofa doubles as sleeping quarters. Great for the whole family! Lower level has a half bath, with an outdoor shower.

Enjoy the horseshoe pits in the side yard.

This was our first time staying on the 4x4 beach and it was fantastic! The house was very clean and the owner was very responsive to my messages. The location was perfect - we saw horses everyday in the yard. It was a short walk/drive over the dunes to get to/from the beach. We were there with our 4 kids and DIL and we all had a great week! We will definitely be back!

Everything was great apart from a couple concerns regarding housekeeping. There was a dirty sock found in the front living room by the dining room table along with a past renters pair of sweatpants in a dresser upstairs.

Corolla house was awesome

The house and location were perfect for our beach vacation! Wild horses, wide open beaches and the hammock added to the adventure. Hope to make this a yearly trip!

Beautiful week with the horses

We really enjoyed staying in this home. Driving on the beach to get to the house was fun and seeing the horses almost daily was such a treat. We'll definitely be back!

We had a great vacation at this house. The house is spacious, comfortable, felt clean and well-maintained. The proximity to the beach, and the views of the beach from the house were phenomenal. We also saw horses right outside the house almost every day. We enjoyed playing the board games and doing the puzzles as a family every night. Communication with the host was also good. The downsides to the house for us were that the beds were small, the water pressure in the shower was weak, there were a lot of ants in the kitchen (we had to use ant spray and ant traps and keep all our food sealed up carefully), and the WiFi buffered a lot at night. But for us, these things were outweighed by the excellent location, fair price, amazing views, and spaciousness of the house. We would definitely stay here again!

Amazing Home away from Home

House is as beautiful as it appears. From the moment on entry you know you found a treasure. Everything exceptionally clean, well stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and linens, air conditioner works well. We had daily horses in our front yard munching away. Televisions in all bedrooms and living room with Direct Tv and Netflix (evening time Netflix can be a bit slow to stream due to DSL internet, but you are in a remote location so be patient!) Being a jeep owner absolutely LOVED beach driving and some exploring on the"roads" behind the dunes. Host was very quick to respond to any questions. The hammock on the front porch was heavenly!

Trip of a lifetime!

This was the perfect location for a beach getaway! The house is footsteps away from the beach and not too far from town. We saw wild horses every day! It was a home away from home!

Great Vacation Property

We really appreciated how well equipped this property was for our needs. The local horse herd was present all week, and the beach was not over crowded. A 4-wd vehicle and a tire pressure gauge is necessary for driving on the beach road to the house.

Great place to stay

We loved our stay in this location. The house was roomy and great for our family. The wrap around porch facilitated us being outside no matter which way the wind was blowing. Just a short walk over the dune and we were at the beach. Loved the wild horses in the yard or the area each day. Would definitely recommend

Great vacation

This was our first time driving on the beach and we loved it. House was nice and everything was clean. Note on the directions you can’t see mile marker 16 ( the state should have two of them up for each direction).

A great place to get away

A very nice house and a great location if you want to get away from the main bustle. Just be mindful of the tides. There is a house on the beach that can cause access challenges when it is high tide. I would give communication with host more than 5 stars if I could. He was very outstanding both before and during our stay.

First OBX Experience

I fully recommend staying at China Swan!! As a first timer to not Corolla not only this property was amazing but so was Stuart! He was so easy to communicate with and always had extremely prompt and helpful responses! The house itself is beautiful and has the best views!

Amazing location and experience

We didn't want to come home. The horses were so close, even sleeping under the house. It's a very short walk or drive to the beach, right next to the access. It's also fun watching the horse tours and other vehicles navigate the water near the property. We would definitely return.

Beach house in 4x4 area of Corolla, NC

We rented the house for a week get away in mid October. The house is on the beautiful 4x4 access section of the beach. It is far enough from town to be private but has easy access to town. Everything was very clean and especially well equipped. We loved the wrap around porch and seeing the horses, foxes, shore birds and a bald eagle. It was a wonderful week and we want to come back in the future with our adult kids.

Great house- loved our stay

This was our first time to Corolla and we couldn’t have picked a better house. The host was very responsive and answered all of our questions. The size of the house was perfect for our group of 6 adults and 2 kids, with plenty of extra space. The screened in portion of the porch was perfect on the rainy days. You can sit on the front porch and see the beach. We loved being able to walk a short distance to the waves. And the horses visited multiple times throughout our stay.

Horse Lovers Paradise

If you love to see the wild horses, this is the place to stay. We saw them multiple times a day all around the house. Views of the beach from the porch swing and hammock were great. We had 6 adults and one child under 2 and had more than enough room. The owner was extremely attentive and helpful with any questions or concerns. Thank you Stuart! We would definitely stay here again!
