Positives: 1) if you’re diving with Dive Spirit Fakarava, it is located a 2 minute walk from your bungalow.
2) quiet
3) excellent “snack” for lunch on property.
4) clean and there is a small kitchen with stove, full fridge and cookware and a washing machine!
5) the management is very friendly. They don’t speak much English. I was glad I studied French for 2 months before my trip.
Not so great:
1) property is very unkempt with lots of junk on property. It’s a very ugly site out the back of bungalow. The front view is a bit better. Can kind of see the ocean.
2) they do not provide you with drinking water unlike any other lodging I used on Tikehau, Rangiroa or Fakarava. They also do not provide an airport pick up. Since they didn’t tell me there was no drinking water, I paid the 10 dollar fare for taxi from airport and then had to turn around directly and spend another 10 dollars for taxi to go to market.
3) It is 4 km from the center of town. They do not provide bikes unlike any other place where I stayed, so you must take a taxi if you need to go anywhere. Bike rental is ridiculously expensive: 1500 xpf (about 14 dollars for 1/2 day. )
I never left the property as I dived every day of my stay, ate lunch at the snack, and then stayed in my bungalow.
4) they said there is a hot shower, but during my 6 day stay, I never had hot water.
So, I would recommend if you’re a diver who is going to dive every day and doesn’t mind to just stay on the property or if you don’t mind spending the money for taxis or bike rental.
