Apartment was cozy and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Location close to the Capitol, Union Station and the Metro was great for us. Also, plenty of good restaurants in walking distance.

Our stay in downtown Washington D.C. was a true delight. Our hosts were gracious and responsive to our questions. They had great suggestions for places to shop and dine. Their knowledge of the area and their historical knowledge of the locations around DC was a nice bonus. Ellen and Bill were a real delight to talk with.The apartment had everything we needed for our 10 day stay. It has a fully equipped kitchen and bath. We enjoyed coffee in the little breakfast nook in the mornings and there was plenty of room to spread out and relax after full days. This was a very comfortable home away from home. We love that the apartment is centrally located within easy reach of all the sights up and down the National Mall. Grocery stores are only a three block walk away. We walked to the Library of Congress, National Museum and National Archives, and on some days picked up e-bikes within two or three blocks of the apartment for quicker treks down the Mall. The neighborhood is very nice, it's cozy and the people were open and friendly. The restauranteurs and staff at the museums and galleries were genuinely happy to host us. D.C. in the Fall was quiet and easy to navigate. Even taking e-bikes on city streets we felt comfortable, relaxed and safe. The motorists were careful to look out for pedestrians and people on bikes.Our hosts, the apartment, and the location have our full recommendation. We are looking forward to booking it again in the future.

Location is absolutely brilliant - a quiet residential street, but 10-15 minutes walk to the Metro, and 30 minutes or so to absolutely anything. The flat was perfect for us as a base. The hosts have really thought of anything you could need - coffee, dishwasher tablets etc - and the kitchen was really well equipped. You could hardly do better.

Great location with everything you could possibly need on site. Owners are super friendly and accommodating. The water pressure in the shower was amazing also. Parking was easy and you can walk easily to metro if desired.

Home Away from Home

Ellen was awesome to deal with. We had a ton of communication back and forth. She was always on the ball. We love the place. It's truly like a home away from home. It was a very comfortable stay for my two sons (12&9), wife and I. We loved the neighborhood. It is quiet and friendly. Even coming back late at night, we didn't worry. Parking can be a challenge, but we were in a big Nissan Titan truck, and even then, it wasn't that bad. Nearly everything is within 5-15 min walk or drive. All in all, a wonderful stay. We look forward to coming back in the winter, when the heat index isn't 110 degrees! Will definitely stay with Ellen and Bill!

Convenient spot in a lovely neighborhood

The basement apartment’s location allowed us to walk easily to Union Station, if we needed to catch the metro, or to restaurants, bars, and groceries, if we wanted to take advantage of the neighborhood.The owners maintained great communication throughout. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

DC Trip

This apartment was perfect, it is in a great location for getting around. Hosts were wonderful, and apt had everything we needed. Water pressure for the shower was great which was very nice after a long day of walking to relax in the hot shower. I would recommend this for anyone that wants to be close to all the monuments & museums

Cozy and Convenient!

This property is ideally located for a short and pleasant walk to Union Station to catch the Metro, or a nice walk to the US Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress. Grocery and dinning options also within walking distance. Nice, clean, and cozy place to stay, cook a meal, rest your feet, and recharge. Hosts were helpful and kind.

Wonderful location, perfect place

We can’t speak highly enough about our stay at this wonderful apartment. The location was perfect, close to everything we needed. Lovely owners, so nice and helpful. We will stay here again 100%. If you want to see the capital and all the museums this is an ideal location.

Spring break getaway

This was our first family trip in a few years. The location is perfect and the apartment is spacious enough for 2 adults and a teen. We were able to order grocery delivery to have breakfast items in the apartment daily. We will for sure stay here again if we return to DC.

comfy, cozy and walkable

Took my daughters to DC for the first time and Ellen's place was perfect. Perfectly close and walkable, comfortable and safe historic neighborhood, and cozy after a long day of walking. The place was roomy, the kitchen was well-equipped, the Netflix was a nice touch, and we had a number of amenities that made it home-like. Ellen was very communicative and we enjoyed our stay.

12 Days - 12 Museums

This warm and comfortable Capitol Hill apartment was the perfect base for our late winter one-museum-a-day visit to DC. We felt at home as soon as our bags were unpacked. All but one of our destinations were within easy walking distance from our front door. The neighborhood restaurants were wonderful. Excellent groceries and pharmacy a few blocks away. Hosts were helpful and responsive to our needs. All in all a wonderful experience.

fragrance free paradise

We came for the People's March in DC. Finding a safe harbor is so difficult in the calmest of times and my hosts went out of their way to make sure their rental was fragrance free, comfy and calming all around. They even had gluten free fresh baked goods waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. Such kindness will stay with me in a time when kindness means everything. The apartment was clean and comfy and a beautiful respite for our stay in a chaotic time in DC.

Great location and nice host and neighbors. Easily walkable. Quiet area and plenty of street parking at this time of year. Our host was great about communicating with is even when we had last minute snafus. Property was as described which was plenty of room for us and cozy. Not fancy but functional.

Quaint Apartment & Great Location

Perfect apartment for visiting our nation's capitol! Only a 15 minute walk to Union Station to catch the Metro. We had a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 adult children. Pretty tight quarters if you plan on staying in the apartment for long periods of time. We were usually out early and came back late so no problem for us. The apartment had a nice full kitchen, W/D, and the hosts thought of almost anything you might need and responded quickly.

Great place to stay

Easy check in and check out, clean apartment, and had all the essentials needed. It's a great central location to the subway which was convenient because we could just park our car the entire time and not drive again until we left. The owners are very responsive as well.
