Recently renovated stone house with a private pool, set amongst pomegranate and olive trees offers the perfect place to relax and enjoy the warm temperatures that Montenegro has to offer. Great care has been taken to create a stunning living space that fits into the outstanding surroundings. These buildings are Montenegrin traditional architecture at its best with thick stone walls and shuttered windows helping to keep the inside cool in the day time. The natural beauty of the bay area can be appreciated from the terrace ā€“ Restful days can be spent on the balconies, sitting by your own private pool with spectacular views of Kotor Bay
When it comes to rest and relaxation in a tranquil rural setting, Villa Garbo is the perfect option. Stroll through tiny villages which time forgot, where the main source of income continues to be olive groves and goats. Youā€™ll find friendly locals who continue to welcome visitors with homemade prsut (cured and smoked ham) and rakija (a stiff Balkan brandy made from plums). The surroundings might be rural, but the area is also rich in cultural heritage. Kotor Old Town is within easy reach, with its narrow alleyways and squares filled with excellent restaurants outdoor cafes.

The rural surroundings also make for tremendous walks and some of Montenegro's best beaches are only a short drive.
This three-bedroom villa is traditionally-styled and comfortably furnished throughout its two levels.

The property is entered on the first floor where the large, open-plan lounge-diner is an attractive place to relax with large sofas. A well-equipped kitchen ā€“ perfect for those family meals. There is one bathroom on each floor.

Beautifully restored villa in an old interesting village in the hills above Tivat. The pool and outdoor space were perfect for our family of five, and indoor the property really spacious. We got used the drive up and down the narrow road eventually, and it was so worth it for the views from the terrace.

A big and nice house with a fantastic view!

Comfortable house with everything we needed both in- and outside.The garden and pool area gave us many possibilities to relax and enjoy.However, the way up to the house was narrow for a wagon (8 pers.)

For a family of four, there was lots of space inside and out. The gardens and pool area were very pretty and the views to Tivat and the hills around were stunning. I would say you need to be a fairly confident driver to get up to it but we quickly got used to that! Lovely area, lots to do. We had one minor issue but when we contacted the owner it was sorted very quickly. Lovely quiet area.

Wonderful Stay

An absolutely beautiful restored historic home with an incredible pool deck and incredible views. Owners were very accommodating. Not for the mobility impaired or small children. The view from outside the house is stunning overlooking Tivat and the bay. Tivat was a great, less touristy base for exploring the whole area and had lots of stores and restaurants to choose from.

Wonderful holiday

The property was clean and very well maintained.It had beautiful grounds with many olive trees. The The views from the property were spectacular. Porto Montenegro is a 12 minute drive away. It had a great range of restaurants. We had such a fantastic time we will be booking again next year.

Beautiful stay in the hills

We had an excellent time in Villa Garbo. Amazing views. The kids enjoyed the pool a lot. With shutters closed and A/C on it was nice and cool inside. Even though it was extremely hot outside. Sitting under the grapevines overlooking Tivat was very relaxing. A great house at a great place.

August stay after tour of balkans

Beautiful individual villa with a view that pictures cannot do justice to. Perfect description on VRBO but the pictures belie the size of the whole place. 2 large bathrooms (2 washing machines!) 3 large bedrooms. Outdoor space quiet and perfect for swim, exercise and BBQ. Perfect ....and thanks for accommodating our late check in from border crossing

Deceptive host, unsafe villa ā€” AVOIDHost was disingenuous and omitted key facts (e.g., no BBQ use, single access via very steep steps without handrail and lighting - not disclosed in listing).Apparently this has been rented since 2010 with nothing but 10/10 reviews!! Grounds had active hornet/wasp nests.Pool was green on arrival and stayed that way despite requests; handrail was broken and merely balancedā€”it fell on our son while he was swimming.Jacuzzi filthy: black mould expelled from the jets.Access is 40ā€“50 steep steps with no handrail or lightingā€”not disclosed in the listing.Main bed broken, Wi-Fi didnā€™t work, bedding without covers and dishes in cupboards dirty (lipstick on cups).Host attempted to mislead Vrbo by implying we caused damage to the bed and pool handrail which should have been welded but the weld had failed.Issues were not resolved promptly; when we sought help for our teenage daughter who arrived earlier at the airport than us due to delays on our side, the response was:ā€œI really donā€™t know what to sayā€¦ Itā€™s up to you to make a decision about your daughterā€¦ If she is not secure or well she can talk to the police or the airport. I really don't know what to say about this questionā€ All we were looking for is help with a taxi or bus / local guidance.This experience was unsafe, dirty and unacceptable. AVOID.Both the host and VRBO can't see the issue!!! Seriously... I will be taking this to the Expedia CEO and CFO and national press.

Wir haben einen sehr schƶnen Urlaub in diesem Ferienhaus verbracht. Besonders hervorzuheben sind der tolle Pool und die fantastische Aussicht ā€“ einfach perfekt zum Entspannen. Auch die Lage ist ideal fĆ¼r Wanderungen, die direkt vom Haus aus starten kƶnnen. Die KĆ¼che ist sehr gut ausgestattet, sodass man problemlos auch selbst kochen kann. Ein Highlight war fĆ¼r uns der schattige Essplatz mit traumhaftem Blick Ć¼ber Tivat ā€“ dort haben wir viele Abende verbracht.Ein paar Kleinigkeiten sollte man wissen: Die WLAN-Verbindung im Haus ist nicht besonders stabil, drauƟen funktioniert sie besser. AuƟerdem ist die Anfahrt zum Haus Ć¼ber eine sehr enge und kurvige StraƟe etwas herausfordernd und fĆ¼hrt den Berg hoch ā€“ ca. 300 Hƶhenmeter ā€“, was bei Gegenverkehr etwas knifflig sein kann.Alles in allem aber ein wunderbarer Ort, den wir gerne weiterempfehlen kƶnnen!

Tolles und geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Haus. Schƶner und sauberer Pool. Toller Sitzplatz mit Blick aufs Meer. Einziger Nachteil: wohl aus DesigngrĆ¼nden gibt es in den Schlafzimmern keine Klimaanlage. Bei knapp 40 Grad ist das in der Nacht recht warm und die einzige Klimaanlage im Flur reicht nicht aus.

Fantastic views

The directions were spot on and actually was pretty easy to find. No neighbours to worry about and truly fantastic views. The rooms were good sizes and the spacious grounds were great and very peaceful. Only small issue, and hence the 4 stars, is it is a shame that there are no stand up showers and just showers attached to the bath. Otherwise everything else was fantastic.

Prachtig huis met uniek zicht

We gingen met hoge verwachtingen naar Montenegro en specifiek dit huis. Onze verwachtingen werden volledig ingelost. Het is een prachtige streek en de villa is een perfecte uitvalsbasis om deze regio te ontdekken. Vooral het zicht bij terugkeer in de villa kon ons keer op keer bekoren. We hebben volop genoten en raden deze villa aan iedereen aan. Wel een hele rit naar boven maar dit is het zeker waard!

Easy to reach location in the hills, just a ten minute drive from the main road. Very peaceful and quiet. Ample sized Villa with lovely views. Needs more of a range of cooking pans in the kitchen, but otherwise well equipped throughout. No recliners or loungers by poolside, only chairs. Good sized bedrooms but none of the bathrooms have stand up showers, only hand held bath showers. Helpful and friendly owners.

Outstanding stay - August 2017

We had a great stay in villa Garbo. The place is just great: splendid view over the Tivat bay, very quite location, beautifully restored house, and a large swimming pool. Each year after our vacations, we are thinking that we have had the best accomodation ever, but this year after leaving villa Garbo and Gornja Lastva (the small village where the house is located) we had this impression more than ever ! Edi and his family are very kind and helpful, which is always nice where you are travelling abroad. I would definitively recommend this place whether it is for a group of adults or a family with children. Not to mention that Montenegro is worth a visit ! Francois

Lovely pool and views over the bay of Kotor, House beautifully renovated, everything you need in house. Aircon in all bedrooms would help (one central unit in corridor). Very peaceful in day and night. We would happily recommend Villa Garbo and had a lovely holiday there. Quite a few wasps outside in July which made eating outside hard
