Five minute walk to the beach! 3 bedroom, 1 bath cottage.

Dear friends - Welcome to Beach Bird Cottage, situated on a quiet street with other vintage cottages in the heart of Union Pier. It is an easy 5-minute walk to an association beach.

The cottage has many updates, including a new kitchen, a bathroom, washer/dryer, outdoor shower (to be installed by June 2021) and a wood-burning stove. The master and second bedroom each have queen-size beds with new Serta Concierge Suite Firm 12-inch mattresses. The children's bedroom has two new Dorel Living twin beds with Linenspa 8-inch hybrid mattresses.

Enjoy an early swim before breakfast or have an evening beach picnic under the sunset. It is a short walk to other nearby public beaches, the weekend farmer's market or Union Pier's ice cream parlor. Take a trip to Warren Dunes or a quick drive to area antique shops, restaurants, wineries, galleries, parks, golf courses, etc. Or just stay nearby!

*Our base price is figured for two people. Above two people we charge a $15-per-person-per-night extra guest fee. VRBO will automatically include this fee in your bill. If you will have extra guests staying for just a portion of your entire stay please let me know so I can (a) let our housekeeper know to leave extra towels, linen, etc. and (b) have VRBO send a custom extra guest fee covering the nights the extra guests will be staying.

Quiet Get Away

We had a great time, walking the dunes of the Lake and exploring New Buffalo. The wood burning stove was wonderful and kept the house warm and cozy. We hope to go back soon.

Perfect solo getaway

Union pier gem

Property has everything I want in a stay. Very close to the beach, well equipped, peaceful, clean, close to a private beach, one of my favorite places to stay. Close proximity to the local shops and restaurants, lovely neighborhood. Can’t wait to come back! Peter is a fantastic host!

Summer in October

We had a wonderful stay at this property. We had surprising summer temps. The cottage is such a lovely, short walk to the beach so we spent a lot of time there. The cottage is impeccably clean and quaint. We had everything we needed, along with excellent communication with Peter. The area is so fun to explore. We found Concord grapes, freshly picked apples and great Breweries. River St. Joe is a favorite. Hiking at Warren Woods is beautiful this time of year and it’s close by. We will be back!

On the small side

Everything is built for individuals who are smaller in stature. In order to relax and watch the television, you must lay in bed. The location was great and house was very clean.

Clean and chic cottage

Our stay was very cozy and we made many good memories on the beautiful private beach and nearby beach towns. Peter was an excellent host. My kids also loved it, ages 1 and 4. There are a few glass items we quickly moved out of reach of our 14 months old. Popped the kitchen cleaning supplies from under sink to high floating shelf and home was good as childproof. The price and quality of accommodations exceeded expectations (as some of the surrounding stay are very very high). I could live in this community and home! Got to take a run along the beach and through the neighborhood and spotted 3 bucks in a yard that I got to jog past! My husband watched a doe and fawn from one of the bedroom windows as he played with our daughter. If you’re thinking about it, just book it.

Adorable place!

House was immaculate and a great location. Private beach area was fabulous. Everything we needed was at the house. Property next door was a little unkept and that area of the yard was a little overgrown but understandable this time of the year. We’d definitely rent this home again!

Peaceful Lake Michigan Town

The house was great and everything needed was provided. I loved the peacefulness of this neighborhood and it's dirt roads. And the best part is access to their private beach just a block away! We loved our stay here! I would love to see this little forest village in full bloom at summer time. Thanks for letting us stay at your home!

Peaceful celebration

Bumpy (roads) streets to get to a peaceful, quaint cottage in the woods. Everything comfy for my daughter & I to meet for a birthday celebration weekend. We spent half our time relaxing with a puzzle, books, music & food. Great location to explore the beach & Three Oaks shops when we went out. Looked for a soup ladle or large spoon, fridge to chill better, paper towels & a more cooperative kitchen faucet but otherwise a well stocked kitchen. Be prepared for the sole t.v. to be in the master bedroom. Will likely return to this great getaway cottage if possible!

Weekend getaway

This cottage is exactly as described and so cute! They had everything we needed for a weekend getaway. It’s close to New Buffalo, Michigan City and all the local wineries and breweries. We loved the little wood stove! We will definitely be back! Great place!

Cute, clean, great location

Peter's property was great! It was cute, comfortable and clean. I love the little beach neighborhood and private beach on Lake Michigan. So beautiful! It's also close (within 10 min) to the Warren Dunes, Warren Woods and Greenbush Brewery, all of which we enjoyed.

Very cute cottage!!

We were up on a chilly gray November weekend. The property is a very cozy older cottage with an interesting layout. We were touring breweries and were in the cottage for the evenings. The wood burning stove is a great feature and the property is just as described by the owners. We would definitely stay there again.

Cute cottage & really close to the beach!

The perfect little getaway for a mom and me trip with my teenage daughter for fall break! The cottage is well stocked and had everything we needed. The beach is great! We had fun finding sea glass. The neighborhood is cute and perfect for walking. There are some great little restaurants around and ice cream shops all within 15 minutes. Be sure to double check hours of operation, especially in the off season. Our favorites included Redamak's, Red Arrow Roadhouse, Villa Nova Pizza, and Oink's Dutch Treat Ice Cream. Galien County Park has some great hiking trails and Dinges Fall Harvest in Three Oaks is an adorable family farm. Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets in Michigan City was a short 20-25 minute drive. 4 nights ended up being just the right amount of time to enjoy the area for us!

Cute house in nice neighborhood

The house was clean and cute for our stay. We didn’t spend much time there but it was perfect for our stay. Great location and close to where we had to go. The driveway was a bit muddy so we easily tracked it into the house but they had stuff near the door to clean it up.

Lovely post-Labor Day getaway

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights the third week of September. Very close to a local beach, New Buffalo is just minutes away, and we took many trips to Warren Dunes State Park and a driving (rainy) tour of nearby Warren Woods State Park. This home is cozy, tidy and charming. Peter, our host, had terrific ideas to help with the particulars of our stay. My husband is a little older and I wanted him to enjoy the Michigan shore without walking miles through sand or climbing too many stairs. With Peter's advice, we found a way we could both enjoy a trip to the beach.

Great location and stay!

This was our second time to this area and this location was perfect. Great location and such a wonderfully remodeled and clean house. Short walk to the Lake and lots to do in the area. Easy communication too. Everything was provided and lots of good lighting (I've stayed at many rentals and this had some of the best lighting). One drawback that is hopefully on the list of " to-do": provide much more comfortable seating in the living area and front porch room. Wicker is "beachy" but not comfortable to read a book in. A full size sofa or small sectional would be a perfect addition. Would rent again.

Summer's End

My good friend and I decided to take a short (Sept.) trip to Union Pier to say goodbye to summer. This home was perfect for us. It was so clean and cozy. The walk to the beach was a beautiful, short walk. We enjoyed a quiet night at the campfire. Everything we needed was provided. Communication with Peter was easy and quick. We will definitely be back.
