We take our hosting responsibilities very seriously, wanting all our guests to have a special stay on Dauphin Island. To that end, like you mentioned in your review, we do have some beach goodies in the storage box on the balcony for our guests' enjoyment, as well as a beach cooler in the laundry room. We have also placed a small library in the master bedroom closet, and several card and board games, puzzles, ping pong paddles and balls in the cabinets in the living area. "Enjoyed our stay very much!" is what we strive for, and we look forward to the privilege of serving as your hosts again!

When my wife and I decided to become VRBO hosts, we decided that every guest's review of our beach home needed a host's response. It is our hope that by being engaged with our guests, they would recognize that we very much want their stay in our home to be a wonderful experience. As hosts, we must admit that we were somewhat taken aback by this review. With that said, we are thrilled that you "loved the condo and the view." The view from the balcony, looking down "Pelican Peninsula" is spectacular, and the condominium building being somewhat offset from the beach creates this truly wonderful panoramic view. We too are disappointed that your "Nana" was unable to make it to the physical beach, but if the old adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words" is anywhere close to being accurate, VRBO listing pictures 15, 16, 17, 18, and 22, paint an accurate essay detailing both the view and the condo's relative distance from the beach. In regard to the outdoor pool being closed midweek with "no warning," we regret this occurrence. Typically, pool closures are driven by either mechanical/equipment breakdowns or water testing results, and sadly neither allow for guests or property owners to have a pool closure warning notice. Holiday Isle is the only location on Dauphin Island that offers both an indoor pool as well as an outdoor pool. So, if one of the pools is temporarily closed, please utilize the other open pool. We sincerely hope that your family was able to enjoy your visit.

Christie, in a "very basic" sense, we disagree with much of the sentiment expressed in your review of our beach home. We feel like our home is far from being "very basic". As hosts, we have invested in quality furniture, appliances, and bedding to ensure that our guests are comfortable, and as many of our previous guests have stated in their reviews, we provide our guests with a well-stocked kitchen. To ensure that our home promotes a wonderful beach experience, we have decorated our condo with metal artwork, numerous beach landscape and wildlife pictures, along with tropical plants to brighten the living space. In an effort to further support our guests, we have placed a small first aid kit above the refrigerator; there is a cooler in the laundry for guests to take to the beach, for the smallest visitors there is a "Pack-and-Play" in the guest bedroom closet, and in the master bedroom closet we have placed a small bookcase with 50 to 75 books for everyone's reading pleasure. In the cabinet across from the dining table, we have placed a few DVDs for both adults and children, ping pong paddles and balls for the table on the second floor, card games, puzzles, coloring books and crayons, sudoku and word search books. In the entertainment center in the living room, there are some board games. In addition, our balcony is furnished with top quality vinyl furniture that will not leave rust or corrosion stains on your clothing or swimwear. The balcony box contains a few beach chairs, an umbrella, and beach toys for the kids. We encourage all our potential guests to please look closely and consider the photographs that support our VRBO listing. In an effort to keep this response reasonably brief, we will address just one final issue. There is no excuse for the supposed conduct of the two couples mentioned in the guest's review! Public drunkenness, vulgarity, and the harassment of others should not be tolerated. Whether you are a property owner, property employee, or a visiting guest, it is incumbent on each of us to protect both ourselves and others. Please practice good citizenship and call the Dauphin Island Police Department if you encounter illegal activities or conduct while at Holiday Isle. - The Singleton's.

To our potential future guests, we encourage you to please review our VRBO listing pictures showing the Holiday Isle building and its location in relation to the surf line. Being somewhat offset from the beach, is what creates the stunning view down Pelican Peninsula. If you do find the walk to the beach challenging, as Tika kindly mentioned in her review, there are public beach opportunities at both the east and west ends of Dauphin Island that permit a visitor to the Island to pretty much just get out of their car and be on the beach! We sincerely want each of our guests to enjoy their vacation to Dauphin Island!

Roger, we are glad you found our condo "perfect" and "enjoyed the beach." Dauphin Island is a special place, with admittedly a slower pace of living. It is far enough off the "beaten path" that you do not have to fight a crowd to enjoy on the beach but close enough to almost anything a person could want to do. It might take a little effort on a visitor's part, but part of the fun with any vacation is checking out all the things to do in the surrounding area. To assist our guests in this endeavor, we have placed a "Welcome to Unit 613" notebook in the condo, but it is certainly far from all-inclusive when it comes to things to do. Even though Dauphin Island is small, there are several things to do and see. Some are "special occasion" activities like the Annual Marti Gras Parade, but many are available for enjoyment almost every day. A Mobile Bay Ferry ride is always fun, get some ice cream at Billy Goat Concessions, enjoy the scenery and ride over to Fort Morgan, visit the historic fort there, then explore all that Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have to offer. On Dauphin Island, we are blessed to have our own Fort Gaines to explore, the Alabama Aquarium at the DI Sea Lab, the Audubon Bird Sanctuary, the Indian Shell Mound Park, Isle Dauphin Golf Club, and numerous charter fishing boats. People from all over the country come to visit Bellingrath Gardens, especially when the Spring bloom is at its peak, and it is less than 16 miles from Dauphin Island. The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park on Mobile Bay is both humbling and inspiring! Even the city of Mobile is a short drive away, offering all the opportunities and activities of a major metropolitan area. Dauphin Island is a small beach town with spectacular beaches, but there is something for everyone either here on the island, or just a short drive away.
