Quiet Waterfront Lake House with Private Dock

Completed in 2021, this Max Fulbright and TruHome Designs house is a spacious home on a quiet peninsula at Lake James. This modern rustic home sits on an acre of land with a beautiful view of Lake James and the North Carolina mountains. The home features 3 master bedrooms each with private bathrooms and huge showers. An optional 4th bedroom has a queen bed and shares a bathroom with the bunk-room which accommodates 6. The lower level family room is equipped with bar area, mini fridge, television, numerous games, pool table and activities table. There are amenities throughout including most appliances and cooking utensils you'll need, place settings for 16, BBQ grill with grilling accessories. There is plenty of outdoor seating on the decks and at the dock for relaxation and take in the scenery, especially the incredible sunsets.

At the lake is a private dock with a 24 ft. boat slip. 2 Kayaks, 2 Paddle-boards and life vests are available for guests. Our dock and everything on it is provided for our guests. You may bring your own boat or rent one locally. The neighborhood provides a locked, boat trailer storage area offsite for guests and homeowners.

INTERNET: WiFi internet provided by Starlink is available at the house right now. It provides high speed access but will not seem as fast as cable or fiber. It's more than adequate for streaming movies, zoom calls, etc.

There is a pool and common area near the entrance of the neighborhood which will be accessible to all guests, however, it is not always open so please don't use the pool as a basis for your stay (amended 7/18/23). Use of the common areas requires utmost respect and consideration so we may be able to continue offering these amenities.

10 minutes from Lake James state park with hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. 10 minutes to Fonta Flora Brewery at Whipporwhil Farm where you can enjoy local brews and outdoor games.
60 minutes from Asheville, 1.5 hours from a Charlotte.

Absolutely Wonderful

We had the most wonderful stay in this home on Lake James. The views are amazing and the home is beautiful. We had everything we needed in the home and the hosts were extremely responsive and friendly with any questions. We will absolutely go back!!

Our family rented this beautiful lake house to gather from Washington, California, and Kentucky for my 96-year-old mother-in-law’s memorial service at the church where she was married. It was important to have a place where our children, their spouses, and most of our grandchildren could be together—and this home was perfect.Tim and Tara were exceptionally kind and generous, offering early check-in and late checkout to accommodate our staggered arrivals and departures. The house was lovely, spotless, and very well appointed, with comfortable beds and a bunk room the grandkids absolutely loved. The Christmas tree was such a thoughtful and touching surprise.This home gave us a warm, welcoming place to gather, laugh, and reminisce during a tender time. We are deeply grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend it.

This was our 2nd stay at this property. It's a beautiful lake home with large rooms, nice bathrooms, lovely kitchen with everything you need for the whole family. It is a very quiet area. I love the dock where our kids stayed mostly. The views are outstanding. If you want a good steak I recommend Bones Jones about 20 min. drive. My whole family enjoyed the stay and will be back in future

Another Great Trip

This was our 3rd time staying at this property and as always it was a pleasant experience! We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to go this year because of the hurricane but the owner’s did everything possible to make our trip happen. We can’t wait to go back next year!

We loved our weekend at Tara and Tim’s house! The place was spotless and they were very flexible with us as far as checking in a bit early and checking out a bit late…location was great and loved the views you get coming into the neighborhood/down the driveway. Could not recommend this house or these hosts more!

The house and property are fantastic. Clean, well stocked, pretty much just as advertised. The owners are very easy to work with and on top of everything. It was the perfect place to have some good times with some dear old friends. I would absolutely stay here again.

Memorial Day Weekend 2022

Great Memorial Day weekend to celebrate a birthday. Love being able to get right out on the lake in the morning and late afternoon twilight hours to enjoy the calmer water. Escaping to the house in the mid-day is perfect. Great house - easily holds a family group with lots of space for different ages.

An awesome weekend away

This house is great! Very clean, well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds. Such a beautiful view. The dock was great for our little fishing boat and sunbathing. I wish the dock had a little shade (like the neighbor’s sail shade). Owner isn’t kidding about the crafty little raccoons. Loved the fire pit!!!

Tim and Tara, We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your house for our long weekend on Sept 22-25. The house is spacious, gorgeous, well appointed and beautifully furnished! Our group of 14 especially enjoyed the kitchen and dining/ living space with spectacular views of the lake beyond. Our young adult/ teen kids loved their space downstairs and all the games you had available for them. We would happily stay at your house again and thank you for your kind hospitality!

Super late summer stay. Great house with two spacious living areas. Lots of games, pool table and plenty of separation from top to bottom floor. Nice dock with water mat, kayaks, paddle boards, etc. Excellent swimming right off the dock. Owner is always accessible and responsive. Highly recommend.

Beautiful house and view of the lake! House was clean, well stocked, and the owners are very responsive and friendly. The A/C did have trouble keeping up on a few hot days on the top floor, even with the drapes shut, to the point we asked if someone could look at the HVAC unit while we were there. The owners did send a technician out, and everything seemed to be working correctly. The owners did say they plan to make some additional modifications soon to address the sun light heating up upstairs. But overall, the experience was excellent and worthy of the 5-star review I gave it. We had a lot of fun kayaking, paddleboarding and playing on the lake mat at the house. The neighborhood pool is small but very nice as well and was not crowded anytime we went. I would highly recommend staying here if you enjoy the combination of the lake and mountains.

Beautiful Lake Home

We had a fantastic stay at this impressive Lake James home for 4 nights. We were amazed how quiet it is in this area. Pictures don't do justice how beautiful the views are in person. Our children and grandchildren didn't waste time going out on the lake with provided paddleboards and kayaks. The communication with owners was awesome. We had 14 of us and had plenty of room during our stay. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything you need for cooking. We highly recommend this home for your next vacation. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you Tara and Tim for a wonderful stay at your home.

Amazing quiet and relaxing home

This was one of our better boys trips, the home was absolutely amazing, and the Sauna in the main bathroom? To die for. Anytime I am in the area I will look them up. Tara and Tim were amazing host, but to be honest the pictures cannot describe the little details of this home. Bluetooth speakers in the vents of every bathrooom? What??? Thank you guys, we had a blast!!!

Amazing Property and Hosts

Beautiful home and location. Every aspect exceeded our expectations. Truly a wonderful experience. Spa-like bathrooms and double master. Deck is fantastically appointed. Pictures don't do it service. I give it 10 stars. I hope all who stay there take care of it as if it is their own. A couple of general notes: walk to lake is steep for older individuals and shop at Ingles market before coming into town. It is about a 20 min ride but the store is exceptional.

August Vacation

This house is simply great. Brand new and very well equipped. It is larger than most of the rental homes at Lake James, and the owners have made great use of the space. Two separate large living areas. There is a Pool table, large TV, foosball table, game table and small kitchen downstairs. Perfect setup for kids. Excellent views from the multiple deck areas. Large boat dock with plenty of lake toys. The kids loved the floating pad and played on it for hours. Kitchen area is spacious and well appointed and would support a large family. Tim and Tara, the owners, went above and beyond to assure we had a great stay. They are immediately accessible if needed. We have it rented this home again for next summer.

The property was impeccably clean and provided a comfortable, home-like atmosphere. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring restful sleep for all guests. The entire accommodation was well-maintained, and the kitchen was fully equipped with all necessary cooking supplies. The multiple bathrooms were particularly appreciated by our group of nine. The property exceeded our expectations, appearing even more attractive in person than in the online photographs. We were highly impressed. Communication with Tim and Tara was seamless, and they responded promptly to all our inquiries and concerns. Our stay was excellent, and we would enthusiastically recommend this property.

Wonderful Lake James Home

We stayed at this lovely home at the end of Oct with a multi-generational group and everyone raved about the trip! The fall foliage was beautiful and the home itself was spacious, clean and wonderfully appointed. We cooked in most evenings, but did enjoy visiting the nearby Fonta Flora brewery for creative beers and tasty food trucks. We were visiting for a trail race, but there are so many outdoor activities nearby - from biking or hiking the numerous nearby trails to paddle boarding, kayaking and boating on the lake - it is a nature lovers dream! We hope to return during the summer!

Amazing Trip

My husband and I rented this place for our friends to celebrate my birthday and kids having off of school. We had the best time. The house is beautiful and very spacious. The entertainment space on the porch was perfect for catching up, eating dinner and playing board games. The steam shower in the master was incredible and somehow the mirrors made us look really skinny :D We definitely want to come back!

We fell in love with this part of North Carolina years ago. We found this particular property mostly by chance but it quickly became our opportunity. The beautiful lake and mountain views, the not-so-steep approach to the water, the quiet location, the orientation for sunsets, the position on the lake's inlet providing privacy and quiet, the genuine friendliness of the people in the area; these are all factors which told us this was the right spot.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The house sits on the side of hill overlooking Lake James. It's below the approach of the property which provides wonderful privacy from the road. It sits above the lake which provides amazing and serene views. The back deck sits high above the ground and you feel as if you're in the treetops. There are abundant opportunities to view wildlife such as deer, fox, wild turkeys, pileated woodpeckers; the list goes on. The house is far enough away from everything to enjoy quiet and privacy but close enough to most conveniences to not be inconvenient. Fonta Flora Brewery at Whippoorwill Farms 15 minutes away is one of OUR favorite places to take friends and family for pizza, burgers and drinks. Lake James State Park, Fonta Flora Trail, Linville Gorge, and many others are within 30 minutes of the house.

Bottom line, stay at the house, get out and explore or a little of both. You certainly will not lack for things to do and see.
