While the check-in experience was good, the overall experience was very poor. We ended up leaving early because of how poor the experience was. The apartment was unclean and disgusting to the point we had to buy cleaning product and personally clean it. The toilet was filthy and had splatters all over. We raised this with the hosts and they were beyond rude on the exchange. The apartment is also quite noisy with it being below ground and with wooden floors above, you can hear the dog walking. There was dog and chicken poo leading to the apartment on a very narrow path on the side of the house. There was a bad smell coming from the yard when the door to the balcony was open. We had a funnel web spider on the bed pillow. There were cobwebs everywhere (requiring us to clean them). Every surface was dirty and as we cleaned it each rag was black. The kitchen cupboard and draws were moldy, making us not use any provided kitchen facilities .
The reality was, it wasn’t cleaned and a simple apology from the owners would have gone a long way to making the experience better (not great, but better). Bed linens were not clean.
We will say, that the owners had kindly provided a bottle of wine and eggs, which was a nice gesture on arrival. It is just a shame that the check-in process didn’t match the remaining experience.
