Summary:

Village Apartment with A/C in the Heart of downtown La Jolla. Walk to shops & restaurants.Located in the heart of the Village of La Jolla, The Blue Topaz is conveniently close to 24 hr residential street parking as well as just a few steps to some of the best restaurants in town.The Blue Topaz offers all the comforts of home. This great 400 sq.ft. unit comes equipped with new flooring, a newly remodeled kitchen with stone countertops, new cabinets and a new oven.



The Space:

There is a queen bed in the master bedroom and a pull out full size sofa sleeper in the living room.



A table for 4 is available in the living room and the kitchen comes fully equipped with all the essentials, such as, utensils, plates, pots & pans, coffee maker, microwave etc.



The Blue Topaz has a lovely private shared courtyard with a fresh, clean coin laundry room that also provides a locking storage area holding all your beach needs. Beach chairs, beach towels and beach umbrella are available for your use.



Additional storage is available for your suitcases and any other personal property you would like to have secured during your stay.



Walk out the front gate and you are next door to some of the best restaurants in town. The Cottage, Tapenade and Public House are just steps away.



Stroll down to Prospect St and visit the many boutiques, art galleries and coffee houses. The Museum of Modern Art is a short walk away as is the La Jolla Recreation Centre.



You will have your choice of some of the most wonderful beaches in Southern California. Walk down to the Cove beach and along the coast you can see the Seals catching some rays on the beach.



A short drive or 20 minute walk to La Jolla Shores Beach and if you head south you can be at Marine St Beach and Windansea in less than 15 minutes strolling along the beach.



If you decide to leave La Jolla, it is a short drive to The World Famous San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, Balboa Park, Seaport Village, The Gas Lamp, Petco Park and Legoland.



The Blue Topaz really does have it all.



THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:



This is a NON-SMOKING home. This includes patio, and building common areas.



This property is located among other units in a shared apartment property. Please respect your surrounding neighbors. Our rental agreement includes a no tolerance policy regarding excessive noise, occupancy and/or parties. Evictions are strictly enforced if at any time our guests choose to disregard this rule.



This home is pet friendly. Pets are never to be left alone in the homes uncrated. If you plan on spending time away from your pets please find a doggy day care or crate your pet. You can call our office for recommendations or check the Welcome Book. This particular property has a 1 dog limit and the pet cannot exceed 20 lbs.



There is a pet fee of $40/Night per pet - monthly stays will be discounted at a flat rate.



Please make sure you are comfortable with these policies before renting with La Jolla Vacation Rentals.



Guest Access:

All guests will receive an email with check-in instructions prior to their arrival. These will include access instructions and a lockbox code to gain access to the keys to enter the home.

Location, location, location

Just as other reviewers stated, this place isn’t about the accommodations (which are 100% adequate as a minimal home base during your stay); rather, it’s all about the close proximity to beach, restaurants, and shops. I’d stay here again for the great location and easy check-in/check-out.

You cannot beat this location, central to everything, perfect for what we wanted. Only hiccup we had was the lockbox number given to us did not work, but thankful there were contacts given in the event that this happened. Enjoyed our stay.

We checked in very late and Management was extremely responsive. The place was extremely convenient to town. It was very clean although a bit tired.

Long holiday weekend

This place is so cute and centrally located to the beach and restaurants and even a movie theater. We parked the rental car and didn’t use it the entire weekend. We got lots of steps in! The home was the perfect size for me and my spouse. The prop mgr responded quickly when I asked for early checkin. I recommend staying here for couples and if you like to be able to walk everywhere.

Cozy, clean, and close to all things

I liked my stay here. Very clean overall. , The bedroom was smallish but the bed was very comfortable. Closet had hangers, a dresser, and was perfect for a couple. The kitchen had everything and more. The living room is just big enough for a couple, with adequate furniture and a dining table. The bathroom was small and a bit tight( I’m a 200 pound male and the seat was a bit small for me). Close access to local eateries, the shops, and the beach was perfect!Minutes to it all!Some traffic noise at this location being close to the restaurants and apartments. Parking on Eads is the way to go to avoid a parking citation. Be aware of parking limits throughout La Jolla: they are enforced! I would stay here for sure if by myself again. Nothing more than a couple.

The unit is small, which we knew. But it is also kind of "tired", and the bedroom window is right next to the sidewalk and the street so there's a fair amount of noise and a feeling of lack of privacy. The courtyard was in shade most of the day so not a relaxing spot to hang out in the cooler winter months. Nothing was terrible, but it wasn't great for us either. Location is super easy, however.

Short walk to everything

Short walk to everything when we do our getaway trips to the La Jolla area we love to just park the car and forget about it. This property was perfect for that as it allowed us to walk in and explore the local restaurants, the ocean, and just the quaint neighborhood. It perfectly met our needs. It was a bit smaller than we expected but truthfully we didn’t need more space, I think it would be crowded for more than two adults and maybe one small child but then again, those traveling to enjoy the beach are likely not spending a lot of time indoors. Check in and check out was very easy, property was spotless.

Perfect Location for La Jolla

Couldn’t ask for better access to restaurants, shopping, and the beach. On the smaller side, however, it was not an issue as we were always out and about. Would definitely stay again! Thank you

Great location but very noisy. Apartment is very small and living room could use some nicer, updated furniture. Area is fabulous but lots of noise during the early morning hours due to street cleaning and deliveries.

Good location near the Cove

We wanted to be able to walk to local restaurants and the ocean, so this worked for us. The Cottage is close for breakfast and lunch. A bakery is across the street. It’s a tiny place but the two of us were comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. Each morning there was considerable noise from trash trucks and restaurants’ deliveries. The neighborhood itself was nice. I would return.

Blue Topaz - excellent location

We had an excellent stay at the Blue Tapaz right in the heart of downtown La Jolla. The location could not be beat. The living space is pretty small but perfect for 1 or 2 guests especially since we were out and about enjoying all that the La Jolla and the surrounding area had to offer. Very clear that this is a professionally managed property so that helped as well. We hope to be back again!

Surprisingly affordable - excellent location!

We stayed at Blue Topaz and it was wonderful. Amazing location and extremely walkable. All the amenities we ever needed. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. We did not hang out at the apt very long otherwise it would have maybe been nicer if we had more of a view. You have no real view - just a street at ground level. But when you're sleeping, that doesn't matter. We will definitely be back as it was very affordable and perfectly comfortable.

Was the quality I expected for the price of the rental.

This property is one of the cheaper house/condo rentals you can get in la jolla and it was the quality I expected for the price. There were a few problems: the bathroom had a leak coming from either from the shower or the toilet. I also wish the patio was in the sun and not in the back alley way, and it was quite loud in the mornings because it was right next to a breakfast restaurant that gets food shipped very early in the morning. If you are someone that likes to sleep in or are a light sleeper this would probably drive you crazy, but I am a morning person so it didn't bother me too much. Parking was difficult as I think it is all across San Diego, and some days we had to park several blocks down the street. If you are considering staying anywhere in la jolla and are renting a car it is worth it to get a parking spot even if you have to pay extra. That being said, the price of this rental condo was good and the house had all the amenities I needed: two tvs, fully stocked kitchen with a stove oven coffee maker toaster microwave and full sized fridge (only missing a dishwasher), and a washer and dryer. The pull out couch came in handy although I wouldn't say this property houses 4 people it really is for two people since there is only one queen sized bed. It is also a short walk to prospect street and the beach and close to tons of places to eat and shop. It is very close to the 30 bus line, if you are using public transit. The house rental company la jolla vacation rentals was also very professional, and sent me several emails and phone calls answering any of my questions and gave me all the information I needed to know before arriving at the condo rental. Overall it was a good stay, but I think I will try a different place with this house rental company when I visit la jolla next year.

Great Location!

This rental was perfect for what we needed for a weekend in La Jolla. The location is perfect, right next to plenty of restaurants, bars, bakeries, and a very short walk to the beach. The space was very comfortable for 2 adults, and also very clean. La Jolla Vacation Rentals offers excellent and speedy customer service and I would absolutely rent with them again!

Lack of Professionalism

BUYER BEWARE! They are in the business to make money and not provide any verbal communication. Once they have your deposit and/or money they will only communicate by email. Please read my other posts, I don't have any other negative posts! We are locals and had a last minute need to move out based on some home renovations and unplanned new member to our family:) I reached out to them the day before to see about a week rental based on the timeline my contractor gave me. We signed the contract and moved in the next day. The property was small but fit our needs at that point. BUT every morning there are delivery trucks or garbage trucks starting at 5a right outside the bedroom window. It would be nice to have some white noise or full disclosure on how noisy the property is. On Monday morning, one day into our rental I spoke with the contractor and he was able to confirm that we would be able to move back in 2 days earlier. I immediately reached out by phone and email to see if La Jolla Vacation Rentals would work with us to leave 2 days early, 4 days away at this point. I asked for mercy based on the fact that we had a newborn and dog.......that we just wanted to be back in our own home. No phone response after repeated calls. I got an email stating, "Unfortunately we cannot adjust the dates as once you have booked we cannot accept any other booking and in fact, we had someone else who wanted your exact dates and turned them down." SERIOUSLY you had someone ask for the same last minute dates?? I find that hard to believe since we booked the evening before we moved in. I was hoping they would meet us in the middle or offer some sort of option. NOTHING! I then emailed them with their contract on putting it back on the market to see if it booked to get out of those 2 days. They said they could do that.........I had to follow up with them when it wasn't back on their website hours later. I'm very disappointed with the lack of professionalism in this company. I hope the cost of 2 nights is worth the negative review!

I want to reply to this review with complete disbelief. When the guest booked the property the lease agreement shows that the only way there can be a refund is if we re-book the days that are not used. We never received any voice messages from this guest - if we had - we would have responded immediately. She did email asking for a refund and we said we would do our best to re-rent the property. We changed our office soft ware to show our agents that it was available (it does not have to show up on the website - to become available). We were unable to re book the 2 days she wanted refunded. Our job is to provide excellent properties for our guests to have worry free vacations, and to provide our home owners with secure bookings. I am sorry that this guest does not understand her contract and wish her the best with her home renovations.

Cute but very cramped

Great location if you are ok with walking. Cute but very cramped. Pictures make it seem slightly bigger than it really is. Not big enough for the price in my opinion. I'd probably stay in mission or pacific beach next time for the price I was paying and have something a little larger. Pull out couch was a little gross. I'd recommend an upgrade for the price. It was very hot also, it needs an air conditioner.

We are so sorry that you found the property cramped. When you called and said that there were 2 adults and 2 children we warned you that it would be a little cramped as we advertise that it is only 400 sq feet and I asked if your children would be ok sharing the full size pull out sofa (which is 1 year old). You said it would be fine. Unfortunately, you came during an intense heat wave and although there are overhead fans - we can understand that it was warm in the rental as it was in most homes this past summer. We certainly hope the amazing location close to restaurants and shops made up for the unseasonably warm weather. The good news is that the water temperature is also up in the ocean and that the beaches are walking distance from Blue Topaz.
