Farm living at its finest! Gorgeous views of open fields. Watch the cows frolicking in the pasture. See wild turkey trotting by. Watch the fog roll off the mountains or the gorgeous sunsets over the ridge. You may see a bear cub wandering through the woods or deer nibbling on the apple trees. Relax by the fire pit. Minutes to downtown Black Mountain where you can enjoy a delicious meal from the local fare.

The Turkey Trot cabin is a 400 sq ft, newly built Amish cabin located on the North Fork of the Swannanoa Valley. It is nestled on our family's homestead that was settled in the 1800s and surrounded by gorgeous 360-degree mountain views.

Sleeps 4 comfortably with a queen bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress. Full kitchen equipped with everything needed to prepare meals. Large bathroom with full shower. Cathedral ceilings give a spacious yet cozy feel.

Grab a cup of coffee and retreat to the full covered front porch to watch the sunrise while the fog rolls over the Valley. Grab a picnic lunch from one of many local restaurants and watch the wild turkeys trot through the field or the deer grazing nearby through large windows. Catch a stunning sunset over the mountains while listening to the cow's bellow from nearby farms.

Enjoy a quiet, relaxing evening out by the fire pit that is perfect for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. Perfect for stargazing!
Only 3 miles from downtown Black Mountain, 15 miles to Asheville or the Biltmore Estate. We also have a second Cabin- The Hoot Owl, that is available for rent as well and can be booked together if they are both available. Turkey Trot checked all the boxes and then some for our stay at Black Mountain. The cabin was exceptionally clean and well appointed. We enjoyed being close to town but also in a country setting, including watching turkeys in the field as we drank our coffee on the porch!

Cabin was very high quality, furnishings were very thoughtful, and it was generously stocked . The location was perfect, 5 minutes from downtown. Black Mountain NC is a great place to visit. Jeremy the host was a real pleasure to talk to. Our experience was exactly the get away we were looking for.

Our stay at Turkey Trot was absolutely lovely! The cabin was clean, well-appointed, and everything we were looking for. The view was peaceful and there was a spacious porch with the perfect amount of furnishings to enjoy it! We saw turkeys and cows everyday, which is a cool plus when you have 2 children traveling with you. The stars at night are so bright, and the birdsongs are a beautiful way to wake up. We only had one tiny hiccup. (the remote to one of the TVs was misplaced) That situation was remedied in literally FIVE MINUTES, as the host brought another one by for us! Spectacular service and we had a fantastic little getaway. Thank you!!!

Great spot for our anniversary getaway

The cabin is perfect. It’s far enough away from the town to be quiet but close enough to drive a few minutes and be in down town. We could not have asked for a better view from the front porch in the mornings. Loved our time there and would definitely stay again in the future.

Perfect Getaway Location

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Turkey Trot: cozy, quiet, clean place tucked away in beautiful Black Mountain. Check in and out was a breeze. Great experience with communication and host went above to make the place very welcoming. We hope to return!

A cabin in the valley

This cabin is the perfect retreat in a beautiful mountain valley setting near Black Mountain. It was easy to get to downtown, to Asheville, and to the Blue Ridge Parkway for all our activities, and it was secluded enough to feel like we were hidden away.

Love Turkey Trot

Truly restorative!

I can't say enough good things about my experience at Turkey Trot - from an easy check-in with fresh cinnamon rolls waiting for me to every detail in the cabin to the beautiful views and quiet, peaceful setting, I found my visit to the cabin to be truly restorative. The owners were warm, friendly and accessible, and the cabin itself was perfect for my needs, from the charming front deck to the fire pit out back. So grateful for the opportunity to stay there!

Very clean and somewhat comfortable. the heater did not do much. Set at 78 and was maybe 68 degrees. but other than there not being a hair dryer, It was very pleasant.

Hi! We are Jeremy and Lyndsay Morris, the owners and operators of Black Mountain Cabins. Jeremy has lived in Black Mountain on this bicentennial farm his whole life, while I relocated to Black Mountain from Spartanburg, SC in 2017. We enjoy spending time with our family, farming, camping, hiking, kayaking, going to the lake and the beach. We also love to travel and explore new and exciting places.

Lyndsay is a school counselor at a local high school and loves working with students to help prepare them set goals and create a plan for their future. Jeremy worked as a robotic welder for many years and is currently self-employed.

Owning Vacation Rentals has been a lifelong dream and we feel very blessed to be able to share our amazing small town and views of the farm with you! We love helping couples and families make memories and we strive to make your experience wonderful from the moment you reserve your cabin.

With a population over 8000, it has been ranked “One of the 50 Safest Towns in North Carolina” as well as the “Best Small Town in Western North Carolina.” Boasting spectacular mountain views, it was recently voted by Trip Advisor as one of the “Prettiest Small Towns in America to Vacation.”

Black Mountain and the Swannanoa Valley is rich in arts, crafts, and music. It is currently home to over 200 businesses, including restaurants, bed and breakfasts, specialty shops, breweries, and a recently announced large manufacturing operation. Because of its hospitality to visitors and businesses alike, it has been designated as an “Entrepreneurial Friendly Community.”

The surrounding mountains offer walking, hiking, biking trails, greenways, camping, trout fishing, lakes, and nearby waterfalls. The valley is home to six major conference centers, two colleges, and summer camps.

Visitors and residents love to stroll through Black Mountain’s attractive Town Square, with beautiful landscaping and oversized rocking chairs, as well as numerous gift shops, galleries, antique stores, ice cream parlors, and craft stores. There is also an authentic old fashioned general store, art galleries, museum, and restored train depot selling arts & crafts.

After a delicious meal at one of 35 fine restaurants, enjoy a leisurely walk around Lake Tomahawk. It offers a well-lighted level path for safe strolling for day or evening. Black Mountain is a “Pet-Friendly” community.

The best thing to do in Black Mountain is to lean back in one of the many rockers that line the streets of “the Little Town that Rocks,” take in the scenery, and breathe in magical, rejuvenating mountain air.
