Our cozy miner's house is nestled right between the #2 Snowmobile/ATV and Iron Belle bicycle trails, and is less than a 15-minute drive to Big Powderhorn or Big Snow ski resorts. Mountain biking opportunities abound all over the area. Prefer waterfalls, beaches, or whitewater? Got that too. Reach Lake Superior in under 30 minutes. The smallies are always biting on the Gile Flowage, less then 20 minutes west. Choose your own escape!

Ready to make dinner? You will find everything you need in our comfortable-sized kitchen, including a variety of cookware, a kuerig and drip coffeemaker, microwave, air fryer, blender, all staples, a vast array of spices, and refrigerator. An island provides extra counterspace and adds additional seating. The dining room table seats 6. A full size Weber is available for grilling.

Sit around the fireplace on one of the two couches in the living room while you watch cable TV, or stream entertainment to your own devices using high-speed internet. We also have a firepit out back for you to use.

Re-charge for your next day in one of our bedrooms on the second floor: a master bedroom with a queen bed and walk-out balcony (when not snow covered), a second with two twins, and a third with a bunk bed for the kids. Supplemental electric baseboard heat will keep you toasty on cold winter nights.

The 1st floor bathroom has a walk-in tub/shower and a second 1/2 bath is conveniently located between the bedrooms. Linens and towels are provided.

Play in the woods and have easy access to shopping and restaurants in Ironwood, Hurley, and Bessemer. You'll love it here!

Our stay was longer than average... 1 month.. while we transitioned to out permanent home. We Loved this place. Joe was attentive and always cking on us. The home is close to the walking path and atv trails. The neighbors are friendly. Highly recommend for next getaway in the U.P.

Nice place with plenty of room. The kitchen was clean and even had an air fryer and blender. The queen bed was a bit soft for my taste but that is a preference not a requirement. The local bakery, Bread of Life, had wonderful pastries and pasties. Joe checked in with us a couple times just to be sure everything was great. And it was. We were near plenty of great places to hike and enjoy the area. If we come back to this part of the UP, we will be checking here again.

Chasing waterfalls

Cute vintage place had everything we needed and then some during our extended weekend we went to 13 waterfalls 2 beaches 2 lighthouses 1 casino all withing a few minutes or a couple hours from there!!! One complaint maybe a new toaster .... maybe otherwise highly recommend will come back !!!!

Perfect Get Away

Joe, is a gracious host, and responsive to our questions. The check in and out process was a breeze. The home is nice and cozy perfect for a rest and recharge get away. We also enjoyed having a bonfire and a fire in the house.

Rustic and Wonderful

Joe, your home was the perfect basecamp for our ski trip. It was super-centrally located and what I would call “rustic and wonderful”. The atmosphere was so welcoming. I would 100% come back the next time I'm in the area and would have no issues recommending Joe's home to others. It is simply perfect.

Character building ski patrolling with friends

A very welcoming, interesting, charming and cozy home. Comfortable for our group. Excellent directions and communication with the host. The home was warm, water pressure in the showers was excellent, no shortage of hot water for the five of us showering. Well equipped kitchen for all of our needs. Beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean. Wood burning fireplace was a welcome relaxing spot on this very cold weekend.I learned of the pet charge after booking. It is not unreasonable, less than boarding our precious pet. I believe that the nightly pet charge should be listed in the booking information.All told, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this host to anyone who wants to visit the area.Thank you for hosting us.

Ski 906 Week

We were a group of 3 guys on our annual ski week in the 906. Wanted a good location central to hills we had in the 2025 plan. We did Porkies, Whitecap, BRB and JCS while in Bessemer. This property was perfect. Easy to check in and check out. Very comfortable to relax after each day on the hill. Comfortable. Well equipped kitchen for meal prep. Great value for this price and it was just what we were looking for, We'll be back. Joe the host is super chill and communicates responsively. If you're looking for good, clean comfortable 3BR house in the middle of western UP hills - this is your place

Great proximity to ski hills.

We chose this house over one on a particular resort because we ski at more than one. It works well in that respect. It was on the edge of town, right in between Big Powderhorn and Snowriver. The house fit our needs perfectly. Host checked in after first night to make sure everything went well with our first night. Definitely recommend.

Nice house

Overall impression very good. However, we are six adults in our party, three couples. Sleeping in the bunkbeds not so great and bunkbed mattresses, extremely hard and bedding made of 100% polyester.

Wonderful!

The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Our 11year old son enjoyed the CD player a lot! We enjoyed staying here especially since our dog was welcome! Thank you and we plan to stay again.

Would definitely stay here again!

2 geezer couples up for a relaxing weekend of fall color, hikes, and hanging out. House was comfy cozy, nicely laid out, had everything we needed at an attractive price. In and out easily, good access. Very good communication with Joe. House has one double bed so one couple ended up on twin beds, not a problem for us, we knew going in. Bottom line, enjoyed our stay, house was great.

Perfect stay

From check-in to check-out, the stay was seamless. Communication with the host was simple and quick. The house was just as described and fit our needs perfectly. There were three adults and a dog on this stay. It had every plate, utensil, pot and pan and appliance we needed. There were a lot of the staples you might need, but forgot to bring, in the cupboards. The house was filled with lots of nice touches from a CD with a good selection of music, tv set-up, WiFi, nice decorations and plenty of maps, books and information for the surrounding area. The house is a short walk to downtown Bessemer making it very convenient. When it came to touring, it was a ten minute drive to Ironwood. We were able to reach the Presque Isle River hiking trail in 30 minutes and get to the Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains in one hour.The stretch of Lake Superior as you entered the Porkies was easily accessible and quite nice. We will be back in a year or two and will not hesitate to stay here if it is available.

Very comfortable

Clean, quiet, and close to everything I needed. Many adorable qualities to this house! The host was very responsive, easy check in/out, and it was a relaxing place overall. I will definitely be staying here again when i'm in the area.

We like to spend our time outside which is why we bought this place. We take full advantage of what the Western UP has to offer--we ski, bike, camp, fish, ATV, and hike. Now that we are empty nesters, we are contemplating a full-time move to the area, but will continue to rent out our Bessemer home.

It has easy access to everything. You can play on the trails or in the forest, or check out the beaches and dip your feet in the cold water of Lake Superior at Black River Harbor, Little Girls Point or even the Porkies. Grab your golf clubs and play 9 at the Gogebic Country Club or Eagle Bluff. You can trailer the boat and take it over to the Gile Flowage, head south to the many lakes near Mercer and Manitowish Waters, or head east to Lake Gogebic. You can do any of these and still get back in time to do some shopping at the Super One and get dinner served. Rather go out to eat? There are many wonderful restaurants, some sit-down like the Iron Nugget, Rigoni's, the Ore House, Kimball Inn, or the Liberty Bell Chalet, and plenty of more casual dining experiences like the Pit Stop, Dairy Queen, Tacconelli's or Mike's Restaurant in Ironwood. Catch a little TV, sleep comfortably, make some coffee, maybe a little breakfast and get in another round of what the Western UP has to offer in the morning.
