Beautiful Chalet Style 3 bedroom 2 full bath plus den home on 5 private acres in the Sierra Springs neighborhood is waiting for you and your family to enjoy! 2600 sq ft home with large living room with woodburning stove and large dining room with sun filled windows for your family dinners or a special dinner for two. See our many guest reviews describing this great house and the fun they had.

Enjoy the view from every room: gentleman's vineyard, wild turkeys and deer as you enjoy the outdoor life with wrap around decking and balconies from each bedroom. Two levels with a full bath with tub on each floor. Master bedroom with bath on lower level.

Fully furnished newly remodeled kitchen with quartz counter, hardwood floor and all appliances, utensils, dishware provided. Ceiling fans in all rooms. Hardwood floors on main level, new sliders throughout house, wood burning fireplace in living room along with central heat and A/C. Extra large deck with outdoor dining tables and grill.

Take walks through the woods or venture to Apple Hill or to many of the winery's in the area. It's a short 45 minute drive for skiing and sledding and a short 3 miles to Sly Park Lake Recreation Area for boating, swimming, waterskiing, kayaking, and boat rental

Close to Placerville, Apple Hill, Jenkinson's Sly Park Lake Recreation Area, Skiing 45 minutes away, Apple Hill, Somerset, and FairPlay Wineries. Lazy rivers, swimming, boating, fishing, waterskiing, boat Rental at lake, explore the Gold Country as you enjoy your get away. Family trip

We had a really nice stay in Pollock Pines. The house was clean with plenty of beds. The kitchen was very large and completely stocked for all our needs. We even made muffins for breakfast! I contacted the host to clarify check in details and directions before we left, and we had no problems. Kathleen gave us very detailed directions, and she always answered my messages promptly. We had a great time visiting with family!

We had a fantastic stay over the Fourth of July weekend! The house was even nicer than the photos—clean, spacious, and very well stocked with everything we needed. It was a quick, easy drive from the Bay Area, and the location was perfect for relaxing and exploring. We saw deer right outside, enjoyed kayaking at nearby Jenkinson Lake, and loved using the community pool. Kathleen was friendly and very responsive. This was the perfect weekend getaway spot—we’d definitely stay again!

My family of seven stayed here for our annual Applehill trip. Everything was just as Kathleen had described, maybe even better.. There was enough room for all of us. The house has a lot of original charm, but didn’t feel old or in need of attention. The updated kitchen was phenomenal and allowed us to cook two great dinners and a hearty breakfast. Everything you could think of was in the house, and if you couldn’t find it if you just searched a little bit more because there were so many places to look for things you would find it. The property was amazing we had visits each night from about 15 to 20 deer. It was pretty magical. We were close enough to Applehill that we got to go out and explore and come back and enjoy the evening without feeling exhausted from traveling. The only thing that we thought would matter to us, but it ended up not mattering to us, it was the fact that there was only one TV in the house and it was in the primary bedroom. But in the end we ended up spending so much time in the kitchen and at the dining room table, playing games that we didn’t miss a family room television at all. My family has already requested that I book Kathleen‘s place for our trip next year.

Lovely Family Gathering Spot

What a lovely home! It is a little older but has some seriously awesome charm. I saw another reviewer commented that the house was not clean.Not my experience, I was actually surprised how spotless the house was. I didn't even see any dust! The deck is in need of a bit of repair, but we just told the kiddos to not lean on the railing and all was good. I would highly recommend this property to anyone with a big group there is plenty of space to roam and the two community pools are lovely and just a quick drive.

In the prior review we had just installed new sliders and hardwood floors. Unfortunately, our cleaning person missed vacuuming the sofas. Since then we have also replaced the cloth sofas for leather which are easier to keep clean. We look forward to you and your family staying again! Simon & Kathleen

Great Layout and Location

The location couldn't have been better for us as we were spending Thanksgiving with family in the same neighborhood. The layout of the home was great. Very spacious and open. The kitchen was well stocked too. The three instead of five stars is due to the cleanliness of the house. It was filthy. While the sheets appeared clean with a surface clean of the bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms, the dust, dirt and cobwebs were a bit much. Puffs of dust/dirt literally clouded up when you sat on the couches or tapped the arms of the furniture. The bathroom drawers were full of half used toiletries of previous renters. With a deep clean with routine cleanings between renters, this will be a five star rental!

It’s unfortunate you found it not to be clean. We have many reviews without this ever being mentioned. It is unfortunate I was not able to give you the free night you requested since you did not stay the required number of nights to receive it.

Nice Cabin

The cabin was very clean , kitchen was stocked and nice open floor plan . There were not all the fold out mats that the owner said the house had ( which was fine because our group was small ). The owner was not very good with a quick response time ( the house is for sale , so guessing her focus is on that ). The only other problem we had is that we had a quoted price through VRBO and then she sent me a new quote with the price per night raised . It was memorial weekend , but she should have had that in her price quote to begin with . Nice property but poor communication . We rent often off VRBO and have never encountered a owner that does not return emails like Kathleen did . Hopefully she sells the property and the new owners are better .

Thank you for your response and we are very glad you enjoyed your stay. We pride ourselves on having a clean, well stocked home to share. As you can see in other reviews, communication is very important. Unfortunately, since I am a full time teacher, I am not able to respond back to emails and phone calls until I arrive home in the evening. It's tempting to take a quick peak at my personal email, but I have always resisted. We are really glad you enjoyed the home and we look forward to you and your family staying again in the future! More good news--we have taken the home off the market and it is no longer for sale.

Great from the outside-but we never saw the inside

Poor communication of access details left us unable to get in."Ah well, one of those things, we'll sort it out when we finally get hold of the owner". But no, for the first time in nearly a decade of using HomeAway we find ourselves placing a negative review as the only comeback we have. This was a late booking for 3 nights which was paid upfront. The owner confirmed by email & promised to be in contact with access details prior to arrival. With nothing received we prompted her just before we left but got only a contact number. By chance we also downloaded the new HomeAway app to "find & book your next holiday". It seems this was our downfall! The whole process instantly becomes automated to the app, not that anyone told us! With no further contact & limited connectivity abroad, we got ourselves to the property using the address. Numerous phone calls, voice messages, email, knocking on neighbours got us nowhere...no worries, we had the app! Using the house wifi from the doorstep we searched but still no success. After 2hrs & the sun going down we gave in. 2 days later the owner finally returned our calls. Apparently the crucial app did indeed have the info we needed! How did we miss it? Maybe poor set up with critical info illogically filed? There were many links & we opened most...the welcome, the check in...in fact all that might be vaguely relevant. But strangely enough we didn't open "need driving directions?"...after all, we were already there! Naively we thought we'd be able to come to some agreement with the owner & that would be that...the information was badly filed/we were not told where it was/we had not found it. But no, we have lost the tax, service charge & rental fee (she did return the cleaning fee & security deposit). We had to find alternative accommodation & wasted fuel & food bought for our stay. So we are left feeling cheated whilst the owner profits, keeping the full rental fee & losing nothing. Could we have done more that day? Possibly...but should we have had to? She may argue we blocked another potential booking, but this we doubt as we only booked 2.5wks earlier. So, fellow traveler, you may choose to book this property based on other reviews. Will she stand by her belief that the fault lies with us alone & leave the app just as it is? Or will she add the access code to a more relevant link or improve her notification of this vital info in other ways? We will watch future reviews with interest...do let us know!!

Dear Traveler, We are very sorry about your experience; it was unfortunate for both of us. VRBO’s reservation system includes the Hospitality Application which you accessed on your smartphone. Once you accessed the application, it provided all types of information about your stay including directions, information about the area, grocery shopping, links to area attractions, and the access code to enter our home. Recently, VRBO started charging guests a rental fee to offset the cost of providing 24 hour, 7 days a week travel assistance to anyone booking on VRBO for the sole purpose of helping travelers. My husband’s cell phone is also listed in the application for assistance. Unfortunately you did not access any of these resources while you were trying to enter the house. We have been renting our home for several years and have always had good experiences with our guests as you can see by our positive reviews. Though I was out of cell phone range and unavailable that evening, my husband was and you did not contact him. Thankfully, you are the first and only guests that have encountered this situation in all these years. After contacting VRBO they assured me you were capable of accessing the home. Since we have only one home to rent our refund policy requires advance notice since we are not likely to get a booking at the last minute. Hopefully in the future you will have a better experience using VRBO. Again we are very sorry about your unfortunate situation. Sincerely, Simon & Kathleen

Fun for a quick winter getaway

Great place, very cozy. We lucked out and got there after a recent snow, so the kids had about 6 inches for sledding and building forts and stuff. I'm sure it would be equally wonderful in the summer. One bit of advice if driving up in the winter is take the Sly Park exit -- Apple Maps directed us a different way and we had a hard time getting up the road, even with chains on.

Cozy and spacious cabin

We had an amazing stay at Kathleen and Simon's chalet! The house is easy to get to and avoided some of the Tahoe traffic, but was close enough for day trips up to the snow. The kitchen was fully stocked and made cooking for our families easy and convenient. The house was a great size and very open yet provided separate areas for different activities so you didn't feel like you were right on top of each other the entire time. A huge property and large wrap around deck were also a nice plus! The beds were also very comfortable and the place was very clean. We look forward to coming back and staying again, it is a great location for anytime of the year. Providing easy access to snow and a big lake is close by for summertime activities and hiking as well. And it took less than 3 hours to get to from SF! The wifi was pretty spotty and there was not a central tv, which was also a perk for our group since we are avid campers and like to disconnect. The house was fully stocked, but remember to bring your own toiletries ;-). I would absolutely recommend this place to stay and look forward to coming back and sharing more memories here again!

Best family Thanksgiving ever!

We had an amazing time at Kathleen and Simon's home! It was the perfect location for a snow-filled Thanksgiving--sleds were available for us to use and we sure did use them to the max, as the home's front, side, and back yards were the perfect sledding venue; we've never had more fun just playing in the snow (kids and adults both). And despite the PG&E power outage we arrived to on our first day, the entire house was kept warm and inviting by the amazing wood fireplace/oven that was the center of the great room and my family was able to gather around, enjoy each other's company and spend a very nice Thanksgiving together. Once the power outage was over, we were able to see and enjoy all that the house was to offer, which was plenty. It was the perfect size for our family of 10 and it had everything we needed for a truly wonderful family Thanksgiving. Thank you Kathleen and Simon for sharing your wonderful home with us!

Great stay

We had a wonderful family reunion there. The house and deck was perfect for our family. My son has a ski boat so lots of time spent on the lake which was close. Definitely a good location.

The property was great for my myself and my family. Very spacious and lots of windows. Very private. Love being close to lake and the community pools were beautiful.

My husband and I enjoy being outdoors in the country and getting away to the fresh peaceful mountain air. When we were younger, we enjoyed camping, but as we got older we realized we like the feel of being outdoors with the comfort of a bed! My husband planted the gentleman's vineyard on our property to realize his dream of making wine; like his father did in the old country. We feel like our place is 'our little piece of heaven' and enjoy entertaining friends and family.

We chose this home, not for a vacation rental, but as a mountain retreat for ourselves and our family. We love the area since there is so much to do such as wine tasting, swimming in rivers and lakes, fishing and hiking short trips to Tahoe. Our son snowboards every winter so he and his friends enjoy the closeness of the Ski resorts to get together and have fun. Mostly we have spent our time relaxing and entertaining our friends and family here. We also have a feeling of relaxation and relief when we arrive and cannot wait to return.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

What we most enjoy about our property are the beautiful seasons and dining outside on the large deck while enjoying the broad night sky with all the stars in view. The house is very roomy so it allows our large family to be there without feeling crowded--everyone has their space. The property is on 5 acres with 5 vacant acres next door, so this allows for privacy. I love the fact that rarely do we hear road noise and we can sit in my pajamas on the front deck without a care in the world!
