Newhard Chalet - Big House Convenient Location Great for Groups Families Friends

Great for multi-generational family gatherings or groups of friends.

The original Newhard Chalet, built by the Newhard family, was the first vacation home in Snowmass Village, built in 1967. The current Newhard Chalet is a more contemporary mountain house, built in 2000. The home is on three levels on 1/2 acre adjoining a green belt, with aspen and spruce trees framing the house. Lots of areas for spending time together as a group, but also spaces to get away and recharge.

Enter the Chalet into a great room with a comfy seating area around the fireplace with a wall-mounted television, a dining area with two oval tables with seating in captain's chairs for up to 20 people, and a large, very well-equipped kitchen, all with valley and mountain views. Guest half-bath on the main level. The master bedroom with its own deck and full ensuite bath is located off the living room. Entry from living/dining area to deck with gas barbecue and all-weather chairs and tables.

The upper level leads to a loft bedroom with 2 twins and a balcony loft with 2 twins, plus a bathroom with a shower. The lower level has 3 queen bedrooms, a family room, 2 full baths, and a washer/dryer. The family room opens onto a lower patio with a large hot tub.

Free high-speed WiFi.

TVs in the family room, living room, and master bedroom - the family room has a DVD player with a selection of videos.

All linens, towels, soaps, paper products, and laundry detergents are supplied. Extra supply of personal care products.

Please note that ski season is from late November to mid-April. The summer season is from mid-June to early September. Off-season rentals are available at reduced rates.

There is an additional pet fee - two dogs max, no other pets allowed.

Quiet, residential area, so no parties or large events, and the main guest in charge of the booking must be 30 or older.

Keywords: Contemporary House in the Rocky Mountains with the ability to sleep up to 12 people, with hot tub, near ski slopes, hiking/biking trails, golf, tennis, fishing, entertainment, and recreation center nearby. House was clean and matched the photos. It was about a mile from Snowmass Village and the free bus picks you up at the bottom of the hill. Lots of chairs and common spaces to gather with friends and family. Persie was great to communicate with and the onsite property manager was really helpful. We were there at peak fall and loved the views.

Great Long Weekend Stay

We stayed here for an annual girls trip. Everything went great! It was clean, close to fun places in Snowmass and Aspen, and the owner was great to communicate with! I would recommend for your stay!

Snowmass visit in July

We had a GREAT time at this roomy house. We appreciated the 2 living areas and having 4 full bathrooms the powder room since there were 9 of us comfortably staying here. The bocci court and the hot tub were both great. We walked into Snowmass Village along the trail while the 7 year old and his dad biked. We were amazed at how many garbage pick-ups there were (4th of July, Sunday morning, daily). Many thanks for a wonderful stay!

Everything you need in a fabulous location

We loved our stay at Newhard Chalet. The house had a great layout for our group of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids). You can tell the owners are very thoughtful with so many kitchen supplies and labeled instructions throughout the house. The location was great - easy access to both Aspen and Snowmass. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful house close to Snowmass

We had a great stay at the Newhard house. The location is perfect with easy access to the bus line (no need to rent a car). The host was very responsive and helpful with check-in. The house is clean and spacious. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Aspen!

What a wonderful place to stay when coming to Snowmass (Aspen)

We had a great stay at the Newhard Chalet. It was comfortable, very clean, and with everything that we needed - comfortable beds, lots of shared space for reading, talking together, playing games, a very well equipped kitchen, a washing machine and dryer, strong wifi and a hot tub. The host was very responsive to our questions.The shuttle to Snowmass Village is just below the chalet and runs very frequently.Plus: the mountain views from the living room are beautiful.

Perfect

12 of us stayed at the Newhard Chalet this week and we all loved it. We are all skiers and love skiing Snowmass(although the conditions were marred by warm windy weather). We all had room to spread out. The kitchen was the most appointed rental kitchen we have rented. The mattresses were so comfortable. There was plenty of parking for us coming from different areas of the state and Wyoming. The bus system was so convenient to get to the mountain. The house manager lives above the garage and was ā€œon itā€ with any needs we had( minimal) . The hot tub had not been serviced before we arrived but Rick made sure it was super clean and ready to use by the next morning. We love this house and plan on booking it again

Amazing house and great location!

Our group loved this house! We stayed with a group of 12 and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. It is right on the bus line too, with very easy access to all ski mountains and downtown Aspen. The photos also do not do this place justice, itā€™s beautiful and super cozy! Very clean and well stocked kitchen too. Highly recommend.

Great location near Snowmass and bus access to Aspen

We had a fantastic stay at the Newhard Chalet over a long weekend. The property was as advertised and incredibley well stocked with anything that you might need in the kitchen area. Throughout the house things are well labeled with very clear instructions. The home was very clean and we enjoyed the private hot tub after a long day of skiing. Only a 8 min bus ride up to Snowmass and a 25 min bus ride down to Aspen. The bus stop is only a 1 min walk down the hill from the house so quite an amazing location. We'll certainly stay there again if we return to Snowmass / Aspen. We enjoyed the ski and Aspen themed artwork throughout the house. Thank you and can't wait to return!

Amazing Stay!

We stayed at this property for 5 nights to attend my nephews wedding held at Maroon Bells. The property was great with all the bedrooms and bathrooms we needed to house the family who traveled from Ohio and SC to attend. It was close to the town and activities, stores and restaurants. I highly recommend this property!

Family Wedding

There were 9 adults and one dog staying here for a family wedding in Aspen. Most other events were in Snowmass so this was a convenient location. There were ample bedrooms and baths for our group. We didnā€™t cook much but this is the best stocked rental Iā€™ve ever stayed in. It was perfect for our situation.

Perfect house for our family reunion ski vacation

We had two families of 6 adults and this house was so comfortable for all of us. Plenty of space to spread out. Lots of dining space. Large kitchen which was the best stocked kitchen weā€™ve ever seen in a rental - pots, pans, spices, multiple coffee pots (which was very nice for our group) and even a slower cooker! I canā€™t say enough good things about this house. The bus pick up is right out back door. The owners were very easy to communicate with and always very helpful and accommodating! We loved this house and we will be back!

Great place in Aspen / Snowmass

We really enjoyed our stay at the Newhard chalet and would definitely return on our next visit to Aspen. The place is huge and the kitchen was well stocked. It was much more room than we needed than we needed for five adults! Communication was good we were able to have our groceries delivered before arrival.

Great home at Snowmass

The Newhard Chalet was perfect for our family Christmas vacation to Snowmass. The home was very comfortable and spacious for our two families. The kitchen was well supplied. Beds were comfortable and every room had a small humidifier. The hot tub was very relaxing after our ski days. We utilized the shuttles every day to either Snowmass mall ~5min, Aspen, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. The bus stop was very close easily walkable with skis and ski boots. We had a great stay and would stay here again.

Exceeded Expectations

Amazing stay at this roomy chalet that is full of history and character. Seldom does a place actually look better than its pictures, but this place looks even better in person. The most well appointed VRBO I've ever stayed at, this place has EVERYTHING. I cannot say enough good things about this chalet, we had a great time and really appreciate it. Thank you, we hope to make the Newhard Chalet an annual stay.

Wonderful Snowmass location

Our family was there for a memorial service. It was a request that we all visit the Maroon Bells. So we did and it was beautiful!!!! We loved the home, the location and the area. We evem saw a moose. As a ski instructor i loved the ski memorabilia especially the Stein Erickson ," Ski with Me " book. Percie and Rick were helpful and made the stay smooth and memorable. Thank you both for a great location.

Great stocked kitchen

We enjoyed our stay at this location. It had a whole drawer full of spices and a cabinet full of liquids like vinegar and vanilla extract etc. The fridge had lots of staples like salad dressings and ketchup. Not the owners fault but the location turned out to be a 5-10 min drive to town center depending on traffic due to the road work going on into town. Some suggestions for the owners- a mattress topper for the king master bed which was uncomfortably firm and a lighter summer weight blanket that fits a king bed- and feather pillows not fat foam ones. ( and better pillows through out) Less beds- there were 4 people that stayed in our group. 2 working full time remotely and the other 2 who had to do remote zoom meetings. An office set up would have been nice for private conversations not in a bedroom setting. Or even a bedroom with a desk. We set up offices on one of the kitchen tables and the table in the lower level family room- but it was hard to keep quiet when the person had to speak on their zoom call when in a public part of the house. Lastly- we mostly chose this house because they allowed pets. It would have been nice if any part of the yard was mowed to avoid the 3ā€™ tall prickers that were mixed in with the grass. Owner was supper nice to deal with and very helpful.

My daughter Persie helps with rental communications. That's us in the photo - skiing together.

I built the original house with my brother and friends in 1967. We were the first to receive a certificate of occupancy in the newly opened Snowmass Ski Resort. I continue to visit Snowmass frequently with family and friends.
The area is quite beautiful year round with world class sports, art and music activities ongoing. Events are suitable for a mix of ages and abilities.

I began skiing in Aspen with my brother in 1961, and had the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of Snowmass Ski Resort. My sister's children own a place nearby (the Snoke Chalet) and we created family vacations throughout the year to enjoy the area and each other's company.
Skiing conditions are unbelievably good, with splendid snow conditions and attention to grooming the hills throughout the ski season.
In addition to ski season, Snowmass Village is a lovely get-away for family and friends at all times of the year. Summer season is the time for the Aspen Music Festival, Balloon Festival, Aspen Food & Wine, and many other events in the area, as well as enjoying the Lost Forest adventure area on Snowmass Mountain.

Very well stocked kitchen for cooking for large groups. Ideal climate, great skiing, year round leisure. Excellent snow conditions are typical during the ski season. Off season offers many options for leisure, such as hiking, golfing, fishing, biking, fine dining, horseback riding, river rafting in summer, the beauty of seasonal changes, and a great place for multi-generational family reunions.
