Chapman Point House - beauty, history and modernity all in one.

Perched on the bluffs of Mendocino Bay and directly facing Mendocino Village, Chapman Point House delivers a view that artists and sight-seers have coveted for decades straight to the comfort of your living room. Constructed in 1963 by a professor of architecture, every room has a stunning ocean and Mendocino view. The house is framed with awe-inspiring 150-year-old hand-cut giant redwood beams (reclaimed trestle) and the flooring is 3" thick maple from a San Francisco bowling alley. Modern furnishings combined with a beautiful Redwood slab dining table and bar help make the house warm and inviting.

The combination of rustic and modern elements makes this a truly unique and special place. The main living area features a panoramic ocean view through which you'll be mesmerized by the ocean waves during the day and the twinkling lights of Mendocino at night.

Stay in and cook in the fully equipped kitchen or sample some of the many fine restaurants in Mendocino. This house has a primary bedroom with a king bed and full bathroom. The second room is a queen bed with a full bathroom. Chapman Point is also directly adjacent to Spring Ranch Park, letting its guests explore miles of beautiful headlands and meadows sprawling all the way to Van Damme Beach. Whale-watch, bird-watch, hike, go tide-pooling or picnicking for hours, and it's just steps from your front door. There is also a ChargePoint EV charger available to guests. Please note: Due to close proximity to the bluffs, no children under 8 years old are allowed at Chapman Point House.

Although Chapman Point House is pet friendly, please note that it is limited to dogs only with a maximum number of no more than 2.

We have stayed before, and last time and this time, enjoyed watching some fantastic storms roll past our floor to ceiling windows. All the while cozy next to the pellet stove.So close to Mendocino that we could either pick up groceries to cook or enjoy a local restaurant.Highly recommend this gem of a vacation home.

Incredible view.

Your pictures do not do justice to the wonderful view of the Pacific not only from the deck but also from the large windows in the house. It was a wonderful introduction to the coast. The village and restaurants were lovely.

Great stay on the coast

Wonderful house full of architectural character and big windows framing spectacular views of the coast and Mendocino. The technology worked great (TV, internet, cell service) as did the hot tub. The grounds are well kept and the neighborhood was quiet and convenient to town. Highly recommend.

Quintessential Mid Century Modern Mendocino

Stunning location and architectural Gem … Could use some updates to furniture and bedding … but overall a stellar property! We will be back!

Chapman point house

This home was love at first sight for us, a rustic beauty with huge Timbers In the livingroom , a nice kitchen with all you would need to cook whatever you wish,a big deck off the back with a sunken hot tub, and a million dollar view of mendo village in the distance, quiet and peaceful, staying here is a incredible experience, I highly suggest it.

The house was breathtaking, and so were the views. Being next to the trailhead to Spring Ranch Nature Preserve was an added surprise! Was a treat to be close to town, yet the property provided the privacy we were hoping for. The house was stocked with all you can need. Morning coffee on the deck and evenings by the fire will be hard to beat anywhere with that view. Thank you for having us!

Location and view were amazing. Linens need upgrade.

The property is absolutely magical. The architecture of the building and how it is positioned on the land with the flora, fauna and the views of Mendocino and the Ocean is second to none. For the price of the rental the linens were old, severely pilly and scratchy to sleep on. In the 2nd bedroom the pillows were rock hard and we were unable to sleep on them (they are decorator pillows not sleeping pillows). It would be convenient to be able to pick up the keys at the property instead of having to drive into town to find them and then having to drop them off again. Modern technology easily affords check in at the property.

Amazing views

Views and location were better than we could have imagined. The only suggestions we have are on the bed size in the second bedroom. A double bed does not fit 2 tall people. Not sure why they did not put a queen in there.

Loved it so much i am not even home and rebooked

Absolutely stunning and amazing views from every angle. Located at the end of a peaceful road good for walking youre just a couple minutes from big river beach and mendocino. This property ia conveniently located and has a wonderful story We enjoyed cooking from the house and relaxing after a morning of hiking. The home was immaculate It does have a charcoal bbq to cook on as well. I think my only suggestion would be a bit more light on the grass area to potty dogs after dark...there very well could be a light and i couldn't find it lol 😆 We found a new home away from home

Amazing in every way

This house is truly amazing! Words or photos cannot accurately describe. Unfortunately l, Mother Nature had some big fun just prior to our arrival. Cindy, The property manager, went above and beyond to communicate with us about power outage and road conditions before we arrived. Due to the storm we almost didn’t make it- but I’m so glad we did. Staying at this property was really a once in a lifetime adventure!

Mendocino rentals left little toys and treats for our little puppy and they also put up a happy anniversary sign. Little things butvthey made the trip so.mich more special. Made us feel very welcome. The house was very clean. We are already planning our trip back.
