Pet Friendly Cabin on 3.5 acres between Durango and Purgatory - Fire Pit

Our modern 600 square foot single level pet friendly cabin features a King Bed, a Queen Sofa Sleeper and a kitchenette and is located 10 miles (14 minutes) from Purgatory Ski Resort and 16 miles (less then 30 minutes) from downtown Durango.

Nestled among century old pines, the cabin is on a secluded, 3.5 acre property surrounded by National Forest on one side and the exclusive Glacier Club on the other. You will not find a more peaceful retreat with as easy access to all that Durango has to offer, no matter what time of year you visit this spectacular part of Colorado. Note there is a similar sized cabin about 75 feet from this cabin - there are not share spaces with the other cabin. Each cabin has its own wood burning fire pit.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).

4WD/AWD is not required in winter as the cabin is accessed via CR 200 which is paved.

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Great cabin in the woods!

My husband and I loved this cozy little cabin! No one was in the adjacent cabins during our stay, so it was quiet and peaceful. The lock was slightly confusing at first (you have to enter the code and then turn the deadbolt lock from the outside), but otherwise everything was smooth. The property manager was attentive, and the location was great. Would definitely come stay again!

Great location and good cabin

This is a well-located cabin between the Purgatory resort and Durango. It was fine but not great. All of the furnishings were minimally adequate. The curtain rods fell whenever we barely moved the curtains. One leg of the coffee table collapsed when I placed a laptop on it. There are missing tiles in the bathroom. One of the accordion-style closet doors was in pieces. That said, the bed was comfortable, the wifi worked well and the area was really lovely.

winter wonderland!

perfect distance between downtown and purgatory! this place was so peaceful and even with snow on the ground a lovely spot to stay. we got some snow while there and it was magical. would love to return in the summer! for being a “small” cabin it felt roomy and the bathroom/kitchen were luxurious!

Beautiful location and cozy cabin!

We really like this cabin in the woods! It was a little further than was represented in the ad probably because it was not as far from North Rango as it is, it is from downtown Durango. We appreciated the beautiful location in the woods, the mostly quiet neighborhood, except periodic trucks on the highway, the really nice updated bathroom, the comfortable bed, the useful efficiency kitchen, and space for our dog outside. The managers were responsive to our needs and had a good communication with them. There were some maintenance issues that needed some attention. The family room light was missing two out of the three bulbs. As well there were bulbs missing in the kitchen. There was a crack under the front door that needs a threshold. I think that must’ve allowed a couple of spiders in which we found and killed. The wash cloths in the bathroom needed updating as one was so threadbare that you could see through it. When we first arrived and attempted to find the lights in the kitchen, we hit the light switch and also hit the disposal and discovered there had been a spoon left in it. A little extra cleaning would be nice as well. We would stay there again, but would love to see some of those things taken care of.

Short stay in the woods

This property has recently been renovated and was perfect for us. Our little dogs and us had a great stay and we loved the hot springs nearby as was everything else we needed. We just might do it again this year.

Sweet Cabin

Lovely little cabin for two. Nice amenities. Perfect location to do and see the Durango attractions. I don’t recommend walking your dog on the road. Some cement trucks barrel down it. Not generally disruptive, though.

Great location for skiing and snowshoeing

Cozy remodeled cabin in the woods was just as advertised! Perfect location for easy ski access and the winter hiking at Haviland Lake trail system was just right for the dogs walk in the evening time. Backs up to National Forest so even though your right next to another cabin is doesn't feel like a tight fit. Be aware a bit icy in the parking/walk area but not a problem for us. Didn't except the cabin to be so well stocked - even had a crock pot that I had forgotten at home. Will be back next ski season.

Highly Recommended Cozy Cabin

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: What a lovely cabin! My husband and I stayed here for a few nights in October. The weather was perfect, and so was the cabin. The location is the right distance from Durango – close enough to jump in the car for snacks, but far enough away to feel like you’ve been dropped in the woods. The property is as described: one large house and two small cabins on a 3.5 acre property. I was afraid we’d be too close to the other cabin, but we felt like we had plenty of privacy because the fire pits are on opposite sides of the cabins, and the cabin entrances are angled away from each other. It worked. We spent our evenings in blankets around our very own fire pit. The property is fully wooded, of course – we had deer and turkeys walking around in the mornings. The cabin itself was great. They clearly put some effort into making it feel like a home away from home. (There’s a soaking tub in the bathroom! Aaahh.) The kitchen was surprisingly well-stocked and cook-friendly. We made a few meals there, and everything I went to look for was there – the usual cutlery and dinnerware, pots and pans, two coffee makers (Kuerig and automatic drip), but also extras like chef’s knives, Tupperware, even a crockpot iirc. Plenty of extra blankets; an ironing board; plenty of books to read and a couple of decks of cards. There’s a sleeper couch, but tbh I can’t imagine sharing that cozy cabin with more than one person. My husband and I turned off our phones the whole time and just enjoyed each other’s company. It’s a perfect place to reconnect. Lastly, the management was great: communicative and friendly. Without a doubt we’ll be returning. Highly recommend this cozy cabin.
