Relax with the whole family at this peaceful lake front home. This 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom getaway is situated at the top of a hill with a beautiful view and stunning sunsets. The steps down to the water is always worth the fun on the lake! Kayaks, a stand up paddle board, ping pong table, and arcade game add to the already entertaining area! With a brand new kitchen and living area, the new open floor plan and large deck gives your family plenty of space to entertain. Enjoy this home away from home at our relaxing retreat!

The house was amazing. Spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The kids loved the ping pong and Pac-Man. The view of the lake at sunset was breathtaking. The only thing I would suggest is better lighting down the driveway

Peace and Tranquility

Perfect hidden gem for a truly relaxing vacation. Beautiful view, lovely private dock. Driveway was steep but we got used to it. Great location for those looking for a peaceful escape. Owner was great communicator!

High up on the hill

The inside of the home was super nice! We have had a lot of rain in the area so the grass was really high, which kept us from enjoying the fire pit. The deck is amazing, but is in desperate need of repair. Please watch where you walk. Getting down to the water is a hike and back up requires additional oxygen! LOL Where it is located, the water doesn't move much. Kind of muddy, for our taste, but within 15 minutes of other amazing swimming areas.

Fun at Gill Creek

We rented this property to get away from the daily grind. The home and location was amazing. House has everything needed to get away and relax. Owners are great to work with. Great experience.

Lots of space at the lake

The house has a great layout and has everything you need for a great vacation. The kitchen was very well equipped, I found everything I needed to cook meals for a group. The owners also left beach towels and a cooler! Thanks for a great vacation!

Great Week getaway

House was as advertised. Host was great and prompt communicator. Even went above and beyond in helping us making entering, staying, and even leaving a great experience. Highly recommend and the whole family had fun. Pac man arcade and plenty of table tennis tournaments.

Smith Mountain Lake Trip

The house was beautiful and spacious. Perfect for me and my friends to hang out and to spread out in when we wanted to. The driveway is steeeep (as warned by the owner). We had a little trouble getting a Prius back up to the road, but managed in the end. Great stay, would definitely go back!

SML Rest and Relaxation

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Fox and Eagle Retreat for our Anniversary! The house is in a peaceful cove. Megan was very communicative and accessible! The house was just as described! We were comfortable and enjoyed all the amenities from ping pong to kayaking! This was a great spot to explore all Smith Mountain Lake has to offer!

Here for a college graduation

Loved our stay, Megan was a great host! Really didn’t have time to rest, relax and enjoy some of the “extras” this location had to offer (Really wanted to play some Pac-Man, just didn’t have time). Have to say, we all thought the beds were extremely comfortable and all got good night sleeps - would definitely stay here again, just next time it would be more laid back! Thanks Megan!!

Awesome

My husband and our 2 sons and their wives stayed here for a weekend getaway. The home is so beautiful and the view was amazing. Cleanliness was immaculate. We truly enjoyed the rental. Driveway was quite steep but there is an option to park at the top of driveway. Megan, the owner, was always very quick to reply to any questions. Highly recommend this property!

Beautiful Lake Side Estate

This home was impeccable! We went on a last minute trip with our dogs. The property is spacious and very private, the home is well stocked with everything from cozy towels and quick lake reads to fully stocked kitchen (including spices and condiments that are so easy to forget). The deck has a beautiful deck overlooking the water and the stars were amazing. Our goal was to relax, so we didn’t venture off the property much and had a great time. It is very close to many restaurants and a little town if that’s you’re thing.

Vacation Stay on SML

This is a wonderful vacation home. The kitchen is well equipped and the inside of the home is very nicely decorated and everything was freshly vacuumed and clean when we arrived. The games especially the Ping Pong and Pac Man in the downstairs were a great amenity and lots of family fun! We very much appreciated the linens and towels being provided and had a wonderful stay. The owner was great about communication both before and during our stay. I would definitely suggest that the property listing includes a note that it is 159 very steep stairs (yes, we counted them) from the downstairs level down to the dock and the creek is very muddy and unknown depth so we did not choose to use our boat at the home or go down the stairs except once. To stay at the home you must park at the top street level and there is a very steep hill and walk down a rocky path with a partial blacktop and a partial gravel driveway which was a definite challenge throughout our stay especially when moving our things in and out. The interior of the home and the interior amenities are awesome but with the exterior of the gravel steep path to and from the car and the steep stairs to the water were a real challenge. Love the place but beware the climb to the home and to the dock are steep.

Not as advertised

I was surprised to find that the upkeep off the property had been neglected. There were spider webs all over a lot of the windows and sliding glass doors (on the outside of the house). The decks railings on the decks were poorly maintained and could have used a power wash. The wooden steps down to the dock were slippery and filled with green mold. The lake tributary off the dock was colored baseball field orange and too offensive to try to use the kayaks or the stand-up paddle boards. For a rental that was advertised as (on the Smith Mountain lake) this was a huge disappointment.The bathrooms each had a family of small flies on the wall near the ceiling (over the mirrors).On the bright side the ping pong table and pac-man game were fun and used frequently. The kitchen was well stocked and all appliances worked well.

Outstanding Stay

The location is stunning, with a beautiful view of Smith Mountain Lake. The house is sprawling. There are literally three living rooms, one in each story -- this was great so we old timers could use one, while the younger members used another. We were all comfortable, all amenities were provided for, and the communication with the property manager was instantaneous. Yes, the driveway is somewhat steep, but we managed just fine. And yes, there are a lot of steps to descend to / ascend from the dock, as one can plainly see from the photos. It's a worthwhile trek. We had a wonderful stay, and would book this property again without hesitation. 5/5 all around.

Not so "lake life"

There was nothing majorly wrong with the rental that would prohibited you from staying there. The ping pong table, and pac-man, along with some other games are a fun touch. The interior is nice enough although I found some areas to have some spider webs/bugs that you typically wouldn't want crawling around the interior.The exterior of the property needs some love. Everything is overgrown to the point where you can't see the address sign, making it hard to spot at first. The lack of outdoor maintenance is likely the cause of the insane amount of spiderwebs, bugs, etc... The listing does mention that the driveway is step, but it's also mostly gravel and has minimal room to turn around at the bottom which rendered it unusable for my truck, but certainly not a deal breaker as the top of the driveway is close. Sticking to the outside, the house could definitely use a pressure wash, and some replacement boards for the decks. Again, not a deal breaker, just something that'd make a big difference in first impressions.Unfortunately for the "lake" aspect of this property, when we were there it was basically mud, and definitely not something you'd consider jumping in, paddle boarding, etc... that could just be timing of our stay, but uncertain. I can say that right around the river bend the water was much cleaner.I didn't find the location to be too bad, it was about 15-25 minutes from any restaurant, bar, marina that seemed worth checking out.

Great time at the lake!

We stayed at Megan's property to celebrate my mom's 50th and it was so much fun! She wanted a nice, relaxing weekend on the lake, and she got just that! The house was perfect for the 6 adults we had as well as fully equipped with really everything we needed! The kitchen was nicely stocked with almost everything, plenty of linens and towels. The check in and check out process was very easy, and Megan was fantastic to speak with anytime I had a question (which was not often). I know you all are thinking WOW those stairs, yes that was a workout coming up for sure and a little slipper when rain the came in I am not going to lie, but it was not a make it or break it for us. The only thing I would note is that if you are looking to enjoy evening rides on the boat or just hangout on the dock bring lights as no lighting is down those steps but overall, it was easy for us to bring our boat rental in and it's near a nice quiet cove. We were unable to swim from the dock due to some dredging maintenance work happening (no fault of the house at all) but it was quiet enough that we would've love to enjoy the kayaks and paddle boards that the house has down by the dock. The basement was so much fun I couldn't get my mom off the Pacman machine! Overall, it was a fantastic weekend, and the house was perfect and charming for a fun relaxing lake getaway! Thank you!

This was an awesome house to stay at could use a touch up on paint steep drive way but we'll thought of for stuff in the the house will stay again maybe in May if things work out for us.

My husband, Eric, and I fell in love with Smith Mountain Lake a couple of years ago when visiting one weekend. Soon after, we bought a house and remodeled it to make it an open floor plan with more windows to enjoy the beautiful view! We loved it so much that we wanted to share it with other people and turned it into a vacation rental. We do not live in the area, but we still visit as often as we can to continue updating the house with high-tech gadgets and extras for our guests. Our four boys love hanging out there as well, even in the winter!
