Home had a great layout. Check in process was easy. Plenty of living space to visit. Furnishings were well decorated and clean. The rooms were spacious and had all the bedding we needed, despite the management company stating only linens were provided. Beach towels and bath towels were also provided. The charcoal grill was in great shape. Fun neighborhood for famililes with young children as the beach is walking distance and the community is golf cart friendly (we rented one). Would definitely stay here again.

We canā€™t explain how much we enjoyed our stay at Wine Down! It was perfect for our group of 6. Beautiful, clean, spacious and more than enough restrooms to accommodate 6 women lol. I will definitely be staying her again with my family.

We had a wonderful spring break at this property with friends. The location is close to the walkover and the sunrise and sunsets are spectacular! Would have appreciated a cleaner/newer grill and few beach chairs but overall great!

Galveston Family Beach Trip

We loved staying in Wine Down for our family beach trip this summer. We had never been to the Pointe West area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This property was beautiful, clean, and Ryson rentals was SO easy to work with! We will definitely be back!

When we got there - no elevator. I called, and they said never had one, but I chose the property because I wanted an elevator. Also, several lights, sockets, ceiling fan, and TV didnā€™t work It took 3 calls and a day and a half to get someone out to fix it. Towels were stiff and scratchy. Kitchen was not well stocked. Door locks were very hard to manipulate. Beds were comfortable and house was spacious.

Wonderful home

Beautiful views from front porches (gulf) as well as back porch (bay and marshes). Tranquil, great for large family gatherings. It is very close walk to beach, about 5 minutes. House has a beautiful clean design inside. We had a great week there with multiple family members coming in for a visit and it was a comfortable space for both adults and children.

This house could have been perfect for a short stay in Galveston but it missed the mark. Too many details overlooked. Art was falling off the walls. Door handles barely hanging on. The fan in the bunk would would not work without the light being on. TVs throughout the entire house would not work. We think the Internet was the problem. Fixtures in one of the bathrooms were rusted. Locking the doors from the inside and out was VERY difficult! That includes the patio doors! The front door lock definitely needs to be changed to a keyless entry. And the worst thing we encountered were ROACHES! We dealt with dead ones AND alive ones! We were having to go around the house spraying bug spray. That is unacceptable! This house definitely needs some maintenance and a professional pest control company!

The rental company spoiled what would have been a perfect rating. At check-in we enquired if the propane bottle for the gas grill on the upper deck was full. The response ā€œwe do know, maybe you should buy your own bottleā€. Upon arrival we discovered there was no gas grill per the pictures of the property. There was a Weber grill downstairs which was old and rusty. And to top it off, was not cleaned. Next the ice maker did not work. Nor the ceiling lights and fan in the bunk room. Called Ryson to report - no answer. Left two voicemails. No response. This is a very nice property. The management lack of response spoiled it as the items were not fixed. Besides driving all the way to Galveston to return the keys. Will stay there again. Yes* - if the items fixed and the management co get their act together

December 2021 Family vacation

Conveniently located close to the beach. Beach access via boardwalk is close - 1 min walk. If you want to take a cooler and chairs definitely reserve a wagon or rent a golf cart. The golf cart access is 5 min or less and path leads right to the beach. Renting the golf cart from Galveston Golf Cart Rentals made our trips to the beach super easy. You can drive the golf cart right onto the public side of the beach and with the cart we were able to transport cooler, beach towels, chairs, etc. super convenient and well worth renting! We also set up a 3 hour bonfire from 6 pm - 9 pm through the concierge on our first night and that was a blast! It was the perfect kick off to our stay at the beach! All in all we had a great time! House is decorated really cute. Enjoyed watching the sunrise and set over the ocean from every balcony on beach side of home. This property does not back to the ocean - it is across the street but you can see the ocean from windows and balconies. It was great to have a washer and dryer too. The iron in the house was new but last renter must have left water in it because it leaked rusty water out when I went to use it. And the upholstery on the bench in the entry needs to be cleaned. But house is appointed and furnished nicely. All in all very happy with accommodations and we would come back!

Awesome House!

This home is very accurately described on the website. It's very clean, well decorated, and has a well stocked kitchen as far as pots and pans and basic necessities. The location is good for the beach, but we ended up driving most of the time to the pool because it was about 1/2 mile away which was too far for our kids and all the gear. The only problems we had were the internet being weak and plumbing issues. Initially there were plumbing problems in the Master Bath with the toilet and in the secondary bath with the faucet not working in the shower/tub area. We called that first night after arriving, and the leasing company called back right away saying that they would be out to fix it in the morning, which there were. It ended up needing a plumber, but long story short, the issues were fixed that day. Since we stayed a full week, several of us in the house needed to work remotely but because the internet was weak, ended up using HotSpots on our phones to get the job done. Not sure if there is a way to get better coverage, but even surfing sometimes is iffy. Otherwise, we will consider this property again as it was perfect for our family of 5 plus a toddler and infant. The balconies gave space to spread out so we didn't feel like we were on top of one another. And the view of the ocean and bay made all our stresses go away!

Home has great potential but needs some attention!

We were excited to stay at this beach house based on the online photos. However I must admit I was disappointed based on the condition of the home and also the lack of responsiveness by the management company. 1. The main issue that we learned after stripping the beds the last day was the yellow stained mattresses beyond anything acceptable. Disgusting!!! I can share my photos if you would like, but to further describe the mattresses are full of nasty yellow stains over the entire area in the bunk room. It is not just one small stain. Completely covered in yellow stains and for further insult they donā€™t even have a waterproof mattress cover, just a cloth one. 2. If you enjoy sleeping on a bed with 2ā€ of soft foam covering the mattress then maybe you will like their beds. The master bed provides the worst sleeping conditions I have ever experienced at a Vrbo / hotel. I am not a large person, 165 pounds and your body just sinks into the foam top providing zero support and sleepless nights. 3. Kitchen is not well stocked. Please provide measuring utensils that are labeled , a mixer, the basics 4. Ice maker is disgusting and full of mold 5. Walls are stained and could all be washed down. 6. Cleaning service should be more attentive to how the place looks prior to someone checking in. Sinks were full of bugs. A/c filter was left on kitchen counter. Doors and windows to porch were not locked. Outdoor chairs at grill a mess.

Great location, understandable flaws

I want to preface this review by saying that I am also a VRBO host, so I know how hard it is to cash flow these properties, especially with a property manager taking a cut. This is a million dollar plus property that is not charging enough to make a significant profit, if at all, so some things are understandable, but they are what they are. First off, be aware that you will be charged an extra $25 per day per guest upon arrival. This fee give you access to the beach club amenities and a parking pass for the property. This was not clearly disclosed in the description of the property, and quite frankly, may be a rules violation with VRBO since it is not really an add-on offered by the host, but a required fee (according to the guest services on site). The property is very nice and we enjoyed the stay. However, there are a lot of things that could use fixing. For example, anything attached to the wall, i.e. towel racks, toilet paper holders, etc, are falling off the wall, or will fall off the wall. I would not recommend hanging a towel, clothes, etc on any of the fixtures. The wifi is not good. If you have a mobile hot spot, I would recommend bringing it. We had issues with streaming services, etc as well as computer connectivity. Not a great situation if you are trying to do any work during your stay. Beds are OK, and pillows leave a lot to be desired. If you have back or neck issues you may want to consider packing your own pillow if you can. The beach club was nice despite the restaurant and bars being closed during our stay. The main pool had lots of seating and quick access to the beach, while the lazy river pool, which is located a short drive from the main pool, was much smaller and a bit more crowded. Proximity to the beach is great and despite what we heard about Galveston's brown water, this property was far enough south (about 30 minutes) that the water was much cleaner. If you like to fish, it is only a few minutes to San Luis Pass, which was a lot of fun. It's a huge sandy area that you can drive out to. Kids and wives had a blast sitting in the sun and throwing a football around while we set up surf fishing rods and caught great table fare like whiting and sheephead for ourselves while watching others catch redfish, black drum, catfish, jack crevalle, and even a few small sharks. Overall I would recommend the property and would return, but the issue mentioned above should be addressed. Be sure to pack tide and dishwasher pods

Our stay at this beach house was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, the property was not clean or properly maintained. The toilets were dirty upon arrival, and there was even a roach in one of the bathrooms, which was very concerning. The beds in the kidsā€™ room clearly had not been moved or cleaned under in a long timeā€”there was visible dust and debris that needed to be vacuumed.Several advertised amenities were also not working. There was absolutely no WiFi during our stay, the TVs did not work, the ice maker was broken, and the ceiling fan in the living room didnā€™t work either.We reported these issues multiple times. Management did eventually send a cleaning crew to clean the toilets and dropped off a box fan on the porch, but that was the extent of the response. No one ever came to fix the WiFi, repair the other broken items, or even send instructions on how to get the TVs working.Another frustrating issue was that the house did not look like the listing photos. Many of the decor items shown in the photos were missing, making it clear the photos were staged. The property looked very different from what was advertised.Overall, the lack of cleanliness, broken amenities, misleading photos, and poor response from management made this a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend staying here unless these issues are addressed.

Great beach visit!

Property was great--kids in the bunk room, adults in the other bedrooms. Kitchen was gorgeous, great space to cook. Would have been nice to have a few more spices, cooking oil on hand, but nothing we couldn't pick up at the grocery store. There were plenty of beach towels. The beach toys, boogie boards, and wagons were super helpful (though the boogie boards could probably use replacing). The beach was deserted, the water was warm, the waves were perfect...overall, we had a magical stay. We'll be back!

It was great, but it needs some upkeep

This house is beautiful on the outside. The inside needs some upkeep. Two of the sinks did not drain. The master toilet had issues flushing. The master bedroom stayed hot the whole time, even though the rest of the house was nice and cool. There was a light that flickered constantly in the kitchen, so we didn't use the lights in there. We also could not figure out the ice maker. We left it on for hours and it didn't make ice. It was dirty inside, too. The TV's volume did not adjust up or down. The dining chair cushions were ripped, and two of the chairs didn't have a cover over the fabric. There were tiny ants in the bunk room. The bunk room's railings were broken and wiggled in an unsafe way. The couches had slipcovers over them that did not stay very well and were not very comfortable. I know I listed a lot of things, but overall our stay was very pleasant and relaxing. I loved that there were plenty of rooms and bathrooms for our party of five. The many balconies were great for the sunrise and sunset. The outdoor shower was a plus, as we were able to rinse off all the sand before going into the house. They also left a beach wagon and lots of beach toys that we were able to use and enjoy. The amenities left for us by Ryson were great! The wine and snacks, maps, guides, soap, new sponge, new salt and pepper, and paper towels were appreciated. There were also nice white robes, plenty of towels, and wonderfully large beach towels provided. I would stay here again only if the AC in the master was fixed. It was almost unbearable. The fan helped, but not much. The foam mattress topper made it even hotter. Overall this house needs some TLC, but it was still a great place to stay. We ended up driving to a beach crossing each day because it made more sense. We could have walked, but my older in-laws would not have been comfortable at all in the heat. I love Pointe West and will continue to book vacations here. The neighborhood is quiet, peaceful, and the beach is not crowded.
