Thimbleberry Bay House

With an open concept and rustic finishes, the Thimbleberry Bay House is the ideal getaway for all visitors. This waterfront property, which sits on 4 acres, is surrounded by Sitka spruce trees, a favorite landing spot for bald eagles. Several trails lead down to the homeā€™s private beach, where guests can launch one of the kayaks included with their stay. The hot tub, which offers idyllic views of Thimbleberry Bay, is the perfect spot to take in Alaska while enjoying a glass of champagne. The house can accommodate up to 9 guests in its 2 bedrooms and loft. This home offers a large dining room table that is great for social gatherings and large family-style meals. The master bedroom, which houses a convertible king bed, connects to an en suite bathroom and includes a daybed perfect for cozying up with a good book. In addition to a fully equipped kitchen, a large barbecue is located on a covered porch off the main entry. Rain or shine, guests can grill up some of their favorite dishes while watching the whales and sea lions that frequent Thimbleberry Bay. With panoramic views, a private beach, and the small details are taken care of, this private cabin in the woods captures the allure of the Alaska wilderness with all the comforts of home.

Great house, property and views

This was a great location, very remote and quiet. The perfect Sitka house to experience Alaska! We loved the Eagles soaring through the valley, the access to the water at low tide was so great for the kids. The dock was perfect for fishing from, doing a polar plunge off of and borrow the paddle boards. We spent hours down there. The hot tub was in great working condition, and the views from there were tremendous! For our group of 8 we could have used a 3 bathroom but we made do. The house was very clean with plenty of dishwasher soap, dish soap, laundry soap, etc. plenty of spices which was nice because we cooked all our meals. Thank you for a memorable stay!

I also didn't understand from the photos that the loft room had the two larger beds and the room upstairs with a door had the 2 smaller beds...this could've just been me :-). We also were confused about what cans to use in the kitchen for recycling ...

The location and privacy are dreamy and hard to beat. Nestled in the forrest with walking access to the water is very special. The interior features big picture windows, a spacious and well equipped kitchen and the most beautiful art throughout. The Sitka Travel Team was outstanding providing easy communication, prompt replies and willingness to accommodate us. I cant wait to stay here again!

Exactly What We Needed

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family needed a getaway after a family loss in the winter, and this was exactly what we needed. We are a family of five with three young daughters, but during our two week stay we were joined by a Grandma and my sister's family of five for a week of that. It was a perfect home to hold us all while we basked in the glory of Sitka. We kayaked, explored the private beach, made s'mores and went into the hot tub every day. The property manager was extremely professional and communicate, as always (this is our third time using Sitka Travel!) and the home was clean, equipped with every thing we needed. We will remember this trip forever and are already looking forward to making a return trip to Sitka from Indianapolis in the summer of 2025.

If I had anything challenging to say was that most of the sleeping area was upstairs ..... where there isnā€™t a bathroom. That is only a potential problem because we had 3 small children who had to navigate the stairs at night. Other than that perfect. Private dock to fish / paddle board / kayak. Will return!

The house has an amazing view of the bay from every room! We could just sit and watch the eagles soar!! They offer a hot tub and kayaks as well. It was clean and comfortable and well stocked.

Spectacular Property

Best rental in Sitka

There were very few rentals in Sitka that could accommodate our group of two families. Thimbleberry Bay fit the bill. We loved our stay. We got to meet Erik and Krystina, property owners, and they were awesome! Loved the view, the kayaks, the windows, the exceptional kitchen. Weā€™re already planning our trip for 2021.

Beautiful home

This property is quite beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is great and many delicious meals were prepared there while we stayed. It was a great beginning and landing spot to each day while we were there. However, we were hoping to spend time in the water at the location which really was not possible. DO NOT come here if you want to enjoy the water at this location as the water access is limited to high tide at best. The path to the water is overgrown and difficult to navigate and the waters bottom is very rocky and impossible to walk on. We saw the kayaks mentioned but they were not easily accessible and would have been impossible to launch. Also, the pictures of the hot tub look great but although it was very clean and warm, it is an older model and the jets did not work while we were there, so that was disappointing since we paid an additional fee for the hot tub that was part of the rental price. Also, there is a distinct odor to the house when you first enter it each time you leave but once the windows are opened that seemed to dissipate. We would have left the windows open 24 hours to avoid the odor but there were no screens on most of the windows. Other than that the please was a tranquil paradise and we would certainly be interested in returning in the future.

Sitka work travel with family

Beautiful property, on the water, with amazing mountain and ocean views. The hosts were prompt and accommodating. My husband and 3 children had a blast. The house was spotless, with phenomenal art, and modern appliances. It was an oasis in an luxurious Alaska style. Then the berry picking, kayaking, hot tub, to top it all off. Thank you! And I will be coming back for my next work trip.
