The space
Stretch out in the spacious Heron House, with a large main-floor bedroom, living room, and dining room, plus four more bedrooms and a family room upstairs. That spaciousness extends to the bedrooms, each with its own bath (uncommon for the island), TV and streaming entertainment system. Three bedrooms have king beds with sliding doors to the back decks, the fourth has three single beds and the fifth contains a large bunk, single bed and trundle. The upstairs family room has a large TV, pullout couch and plenty of movies, books, and gamesāplus the best view in the house from the upper deck! The house sleeps 16 in total plus a crib is supplied for the smallest member of your family.
The fully stocked kitchen, complete with coffee bar, has the space you need to cook for a crowd, who can sit at the 12-person dining table and four-seat kitchen table. The lower wraparound deck provides more seating, a dining table, and a propane grill.
Below the house, you will have free use of a double kayak, single kayak, and a canoe to explore the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway; life jackets for adults and children are in the garage. For more fun, try out the crab traps, body boards, beach toys, and chairs in the garage.
Heron House includes free use of private beach crossovers, tennis court and community pool. Come and enjoy all the wonderful activities that a true North Carolina beach holiday can offer.
Guest access
The guests are welcome to use all accessible spaces of the house.
Other things to note
The Cleaning fee includes linens (sheets and towels). Also provided is a starter set of toilet paper, paper towels, a few dishwasher pods, laundry powder, hand soap, and a few trash bags. Please plan accordingly on what you need to bring depending on your length of stay.
(A note on the cleaning fee - in some cases the cleaning fee is greater than our nightly rate, even though we pay a higher rate than what we charge guests. This is due to the fact that we pay our cleaners a living wage, and include linens. The fee does not fluctuate based on our nightly price, so if you are booking in low season, chances are your nightly rate will be similar to the cleaning fee.).
