Rusty Hook - just what we needed!

We were looking for a few days off the grid! The Rusty Hook provided everything we needed. We loved that we could bring our dogs and they loved the fenced yard. Made it so easy to include them.

Reviewer Comments: This place had a bad smell it was an old smell plus it had coach roches in the kitchen and one of the restrooms was always clogged it was nasty in there try calling the office but it was closed it was nasty

Cobb Real Estate is Not A VRBO

This experience was not like my other wonderful VRBO experiences and Cobb Real Estate should not be allowed to list on VRBO. After I selected the VRBO, paid 108 which I thought was a deposit, was told later it was a Finders Fee, then I got an email telling me the whole 1200 not including what I thought was a deposit was due in 1 or 2 days AND I needed to download, read, print, sign, scan and return a lengthy contract like an apartment lease. And my sister had additional expense to rent a car because I could not get her at the airport and go pick up the keys by 5 at their office as on site checkin, a staple of VRBO is not alliowed. Upon arrival, no toilet paper, coffee, trash bags any of the usual items owners provide and the mattress pad and mattress were blood stained which we discovered while putting the additional $86 worth of linens on the damaged mattress. Location was great. Everything worked but the attitude and inconvenience of Cobb Real Estate will have me never using them again. Clearly they don't care like the VRBO hosts I have rented from before.

Adorable Lil' Beach House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I enjoyed my stay here very much! Sometimes you need the familiar reminders of yesteryears with the wood paneling, old fashion ice cube trays, and having to go downstairs to do laundry...perfectly primitive. But with everything you need like WiFi, TVs in bedrooms, cargo lift, and porch swings with string lights. It was just me in one bedroom but the bed was comfortable, and I loved the décor. I didn’t bring our dog on this trip but I can appreciate this house being dog friendly with the gated and little fenced in area underneath for you and your dog. The beach access road for cars was good with good beach location being a nice wide beach area at trash barrels 29 & 30. The walk to beach is not bad, it is not too far to walk. I, being a little older at 54 years old girl, I walked it every time carrying my chair, my beach bag, and my backpack was easy. My only thing and perhaps just because I was alone, the parking area was dark and hard to see my car from window inside. If you park a little closer to the gate you can get some of the underneath light, and then you can see your car a little better.I wish it was mine and I could stay all the time =)

Property was clean; Fire ant infestation in kitchen and bedroom - weird trying to sleep the first night with ants in bed. First shower was interrupted by a cockroach climbing my leg. Otherwise everything was great. Mosquitos were very thick - just plan accordingly and bring lots of bug spray. overall - we very much enjoyed it.

Also the ants were awful, we had several food items ruined and eventually had to lock up our food in a container to keep the ants from getting in it.

Nice but was a big snag!

Lady at Cobb as super friendly at check in. People across the street smoked marijuana which smelled horrific and they were very loud. My big issue is the 3 weeks for deposit return-we stayed Monday to Friday on Thursday we were out all day at Galveston upon our return late Thursday we returned to the house door being unlocked upon entry we found 2 big lime green Bags of linens in the front room, apparently the cleaning people entered the home without permission and then left the door unlocked, so if anyone would have stolen something of ours or the property I’d have to pay, nowhere did it state they would be coming in unannounced big issue was leaving the door open, especially with the pot heads across the street from us, I have to wait 3 weeks for my deposit yet they enter without permission and leave door unlocked! I told management but it was more like o well. I feel that they endangered my family and our personal belongings by leaving that door unlocked and I will NEVER rent a property from them again.
