The Meadows House @ Otis Ridge w/ 7-person hot tub

Relax in a beautiful mountain setting at this 4-season ski house within walking distance of the slopes at Otis Ridge Ski Area (the best ski area south of the Vermont border). In fact, the back-yard (actually a meadow full of wildlife and flowers) used to be part of the ski area and there are still remnants of the rope-tow on the edge of the property. The long-range views off the back porch are fantastic.
The space
This house has 3 bedrooms, , 4 beds, 2.5 baths, a pull-out couch in the living room, another pull-out couch and a pull-out ottoman in the walk-out basement, and an electric air mattress to sleep up to 8 people (no extra guest fee on the first 2 people of the group). There are large flat screen TV's in the living room, master bedroom, and the walk-out basement/game room (there's a shuffleboard table, darts, and chess/backgammon table down there). There's also a large deck with half of it covered and screened in. Enjoy a warm gas-fireplace in the living room, a real woodstove (with free wood) in the finished walk-out basement, or a soak in an outdoor 7-person Artesian Spas Grand Cayman hot tub with all the bells and whistles overlooking the meadow. If you're looking for relaxation, this place and the surrounding area can't be beat. Tons of great hiking, numerous lakes, and other attractions like the towns of Great Barrington, Lee, and Lennox (all about 20 minutes away), and popular attractions like Tanglewood, and Jacob's Pillow, just a short scenic drive away.

You will have access to all parts of the house, including a washer and dryer in the basement.

This house works best as a family retreat or a romantic getaway for couples. It does not work as a place to have large or loud parties as it is located within a quiet neighborhood and has new hard-wood floors. If you are considerate of other people's property, I would love to host your stay and share why my family grew up skiing Otis and why it is the best place to ski on a powder day, or just relax in nature any time of the year.

We had a great stay at The Meadows over New Years with our group. Lots of room to spread out, the hot tub was a hit, loved the fireplaces, great location!

Had an awesome stay - Lars was very attentive , made sure we got there safe and made sure we understood how to handle his amenities from the wood stove , to the hot tub . Plenty of ways to keep yourself and friends entertained if you get tired and cold and want to just stay in .Very cozy place with nice peaceful views , will definitely come back again .

Excellent stays for our girls weekend. Plenty of beds for everyone that were very comfortable. Lots of common area space, big table so we could all eat together. Loved the natural lighting and view! Hot tub was great for relaxing at night. We would definitely return to this property again! I would also bring my family here as there is so much outdoor space for kids to run and play!

My small group had an extremely relaxing and enjoyable stay at our host's place in Otis. The landscape, property and surrounding area were all beautiful and peaceful. The hot tub and very cozy furnishings on every floor made this the ultimate fall retreat. Our host Lar's was so knowledgeable and communication was a breeze. We will absolutely be back for ski season!

Great Find

We rented this VRBO for a short family getaway before our first grandchild arrival. Was looking for something big enough to house 6 adults comfortably and in a central location. Havenā€™t never been to the Berkshire before, this was a great find. Price was affordable and it literally 7-20 minutes from everything. Larsā€™ Otis home easily accommodated our group of 4 long-time friends, with plenty of sleeping and sitting options for all of us. The screened-in back porch was a lovely amenity, and it was delightful to descend the stairs each morning to the sun-drenched first floor. However, the stairs to the upstairs bedroom level and to the basement are narrower and more harrowing than typical stairs. The basement itself was a treat with a shuffleboard table, darts and other games. We could access the hot tub via the lower level, but it was difficult to release the ratcheting tie-downs to remove the cover, and it seemed like a lot of work to actually get in to enjoy it. I suppose thatā€™s because Lars (or any guests, for that matter) would not want any critters accessing the hot tub! The beds were quite comfortable, but the bathrooms could use a bit of a refresh. The shower floors were a little moldy and the shower pressure was almost non-existent. Aside from the few issues mentioned, the home was a great place to stay to explore the Berkshires and enjoy a few days with great friends.

The hot tub is highlighted for good reason - it's terrific. The house was fine, a little wear and tear here and there, but serviceable. The neighborhood is very quiet, peaceful.

Great little getaway

Perfect Getaway!

We are two families that travel together every year for a long weekend. This getaway did not disappoint. It was a beautiful home with amazing views! We enjoyed watching the 6 inches of snow falling from the hot tub! The house was big enough for all of us. Four adults and 3 teenagers. The teenagers had a great time playing video games and we all enjoyed the shuffleboard table! We could watch different movies on different floors! We made dinners and there was plenty of room for all of us around the table. We took a ride to nearby Stockbridge and the Lee Outlets. We didn't ski this weekend but the house is right next to Otis Ridge Ski area. A short walk through the back woods and we were on the side of the slopes watching the skiers ski down the mountain. Our host was welcoming and responsive, he answered any questions that came up. With an impending snowstorm the night before our departure, he arranged to make sure the driveway and entryway would be cleared for us, and it was. We accidently ledt some clothes in the dryer and we called him and he said he would ship them to us!

Weekend with friends

We enjoyed it! Five of us stayed for a quiet weekend away. The house was clean, comfortable, and as advertised. There was plenty of space and beds for us to use. The hot tub was great. I would definitely recommend it to others!

Stunning views and beautiful home.

We stayed at the Meadow House over Labor Day weekend. Lars was super accommodating to us and made sure we were taken care of. Really quick responses from him and heā€™s even working with us to return something one of the friends I was with left behind. Definitely recommend this house if youā€™re looking to escape the city or go hiking near by.

Family Reunion Weekend

the Meadows House was very comfortable. Now that there are more grandchildren than children we have outgrown our families lake house. The local hotels are never comfortable for our tall family. The Meadows house was perfect. Beautiful views I wish we had been able to enjoy the hot tub but it was a beautiful week and the lake was calling. we would stay at the Meadow House again. The host was very attentive and checked in (via text)during our stay which was nice.

Special experience

The rental property was just as described online. We had a very relaxing time. We also enjoyed playing all the games provided. This is a beautiful location and very quiet area. We loved sitting out in the hot tub at night looking up at the stars. Really special experience.

20th Wedding Anniversary

My wife and I had a great time at Larsā€™ retreat. Everything we needed was there. The place was clean, easy to enter, and the hot tub is grand. I recommend this place !

Comfy lodge in the Berkshires!

House was exactly as described - beds are incredibly comfortable - especially the king in the master bath. Lots of kitchen appliances, plates, cups, silverware- everything you would need. Location is peaceful with an easy semi circle driveway for multiple car parking, if needed. The enclosed deck is a great compliment to the outer deck. The hot tub looked beautiful, but we didn't get a chance to use it. Lars was very responsive and clear. The woodstove was the absolute topper - nice and relaxing while watching tv with friends!

Lars teaches high school biology, chemistry, and environmental science just outside of Philadelphia. He is a VERY avid skier who also enjoys camping, hiking, mountaineering, kite-surfing, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and spending time with his children (now young adults).

The Meadows House is a great place to come and relax. There are things to do in the surrounding Berkshires year-around. In the winter, you can ski the best little ski area south of the Vermont border, Otis Ridge. I raised my children skiing at Otis Ridge. It's affordable and has a great mix of terrain for everyone, including expert skiing in the woods. You can let your kids go off skiing on their own as all trails funnel back down to the lodge. My back yard used to be a ski slope at Otis Ridge. You can't see the rest of the trails from my property, but if the snow is deep enough and you are comfortable skiing through woods, it is possible to ski to the lifts from my home. The views from my home are stunning. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of opportunities for outdoor activities and many quaint small towns to explore, dine, and shop. The people in Otis are friendly and easy going. At the end of the day, you can soak your troubles away in an outdoor 7-person hot tub with colorful LED lighting and powerful therapeutic jets while overlooking the meadow where wildlife like deer, fox, turkeys, owls, hawks, and an occasional bear may come to visit. The inside of the house is comfortable, open to natural lighting, and has all the amenities to make you feel at home. You will love your stay if you decide to book. I look forward to hosting you.
