It is located on the 10th floor of Tower 1 with 180 degree unobstructed views of the ocean, Isle Molokai, Black Rock and the North shoreline, and West Maui Mountains. You will find yourself waking up everyday with a postcard view of the legendary Black Rock.

Black Rock is believed by ancient Hawaiians to be the site from which their spirits 'jumped off' or left this world to join their ancestors. The Black Rock area is highly popular for snorkeling and scuba diving as the rock forms a great reef wall attracting turtles and hundreds of beautiful tropical fish. From our Lanai, you can enjoy the legendary torch lighting and cliff diving from Black Rock everynight before sunset. Making your next visit to Kaanapali Beach a truly memorable one.

We offer competitive rates, first class accomodation professionally maintained by our local property manager. This is a great unit with an amazing view. The view of Black Rock was awesome to look at every time we looked outside. The easy access to the beachfront walkway was very nice. The pool area was very nice. Many great restaurants within easy walking distance. Starbucks at the Westin was less than a 5 minutes walk. Overall this is an amazing unit and we would definitely return in the future.

Whaler patio problems

This will be our 7th year back at the whaler and this is the first year we had an issue- the room was great and service and communication all good but unfortunately a couple days before our trip we were told the patio would be “limited” access for construction work- we paid extra for the higher floor and view and to not be able to open the curtains without seeing workers looking from the hours of 8-5 or sit on the patio was unfortunate all around. As for the hours it was “open” the railings were covered soYou had no view if you were sitting in a chair. And further the coverings have been there a while- they are dusty and gross and covered in bird poop so the patio was completely not accessible and the view was not existent. We still love the whaler but did not get the value of the price we paid for the view and patio. We could have saved a lot of money going lower floors with no view because that is what we had for a much higherPrice .

Great location, other issues

The per diem amenities fee is not mentioned in the listing and is significantly more than stated on the rental agreement; the apartment itself has a musty/moldy smell; the WiFi did not work for the duration of our stay. That said, it is a great location with a beautiful view.

Highly Recommend

The studio is in a prime spot in Maui, offering a breathtaking view of Black rock and easy access to nearby beaches, restaurants, and shopping. It's nestled in a serene and peaceful area, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The studio is cozy yet spacious enough for a comfortable stay. The furnishings are tasteful and well-maintained, providing a sense of luxury without feeling overly extravagant. The bed is comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of exploring the island. Staying in this studio was an absolute delight. I look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Maui.

A total disaster

We arrived on Sunday, the power went out on Monday night. We were without food, power or elevators and were not provided with updates or communication. We were on the 10th floor and had to walk up and down 10 fights of stairs to get to the lobby. The hotel lobby had power and allowed us to charge our phones for limited times during the day. We were told to evacuate but didn't have cell service so we weren't able to contact the airlines. The fire alarm went off twice and they were both false alarms. Both times we walked down the 10 flights of stairs and the hotel didn't announce that they were false alarms either time. We were in the lobby one evening while the generator was on and the elevators were working, the General Manager refused to let my 69 year old girl friend recovering from hip surgery use the elevator because it would use too much power, so she had to walk up 10 flights of stairs. The owner initially refused any type of refund, the hotel has refused any type of refund, we were provided 1 and 1/2 days of service.

If had a beautiful view and the location is great. The unit was nice but a little rundown and the bed needs a new mattress. It sinks down in the middle and very uncomfortable.

Whaler Kannapali

Had a great time in Maui. Celebrated our 50 th anniversary with our kids and grandkids. Condo was clean and located close to restaurants and the beach. About 30 minutes from the airport. Easy checkin in service was excellent. Would stay again if we went back to Maui.

Perfect location

The property grounds and room was beautiful. The property owners was great to work with. The only down fall which I brought to the owners attention which is no fault of their own is the property management do not uphold their rules & policies of the property which was disappointing. However, I would definitely stay there again & highly recommend.

Beware buy insurance

Beware, buy supplemental insurance if you rent from this host. After checkout we were flatly accused of breaking the light socket part of one of the lamps and disrespecting her property. How you break that intentionally is beyond me. Im sure it was accidentally caused by the maids always lifting them up to clean under them.Things get old and weak that is why they have bulb replacement kits on Amazon or any hardware store for $15. She withheld our $500 deposit for six weeks to make a $1279 claim against our supplemental insurance for two new lamps. If that wasn't bad enough she accused us of dirtying 4 towels that had to be thrown away. After ten days of use they had residual face powder on them from my wife that washes right out. I asked her on two different occasions to show us them after they were washed and she didn't do it. But she dinged us another $85. Thank goodness we had supplemental insurance or we would of had to go thru all the vrbo dispute stuff to fight to get our $500 deposit back. There is nothing worse than fighting for things your innocent of,especially after an expensive hawaiian vacation.

Beautiful views, very dated property

The condo has a great lanai with views of Kaanapali beach, black rock and whales swimming nearby. It is centrally located and very easy to get to restaurants and shops at Whaler’s Village. We were extremely pleased with these aspects. The condo needs major updating though. In particular, the carpet has unacceptable stains, and the shower/toilet room has ceiling tiles that are coming off. The bed was comfortable, but the other furniture needed refreshing. We spent most of our time out of the condo, and didn’t utilize the living space other than the lanai in part due to uncertainties about cleanliness since a large carpet stain was next to the couch. The Whaler is not as high end as other properties along Kaanapali beach, but we knew this, and opted for location and simplicity as well as view. Nonetheless, some units are nicer than others, and this one would have rated higher with needed improvements. My rating takes into account the limitations of this condo relative to others along Kaanapali.

Whaler is definitely the place to stay. 1018 is a very nice studio with a great view. You can enjoy the lanai all day as Tower 1 is situated to receive no direct sun. However, that also means you must go to the beach or pool if you are wanting to tan.

Honeymoon Rental

My husband and I spent a week here for our honeymoon and couldn't be happier with the property! The beach access, views, kitchen amenities, easy access to restaurants and shops, and overall experience was second-to-none. Great value property for everything you have access to!

Maui is our favor island in the world and we love spending time on Kaanapali Beach. Our beautiful vacation home at the Whaler offers a perfect getaway for two. The exterior views from our lanai is breath taking and inspiring - with that 180 degree unobstructed views of ocean, beaches and mountains. We chose a higher floor location for the best vista and privacy. The interior of our condo offers you the old Whaler island charms uplifted with modern convenience and upscale feels. It is warmly decorated with many Hawaiian paintings and pictures through out and we will continue to add our personal touch to it on every chance we have. We feel strongly that everyone staying at our condo should enjoy it as much and as the same as we do.

The Whaler is so conveniently located with everything just a few steps away. No shortage of things to do or see, and places to eat or shop. Take the beach walk every morning for a refreshinig walk/exercise that stretches from the Shareton at Black Rock all the way down to the south end of Kaanapali Beach. Try Hula Grill next door with nightly live entertainment (one of the few authorized Kiawe Grills on the Island), or enjoy Luau at KBH also located next door to the Whaler.
