Bluff House - a wonderful oceanfront home a short distance from town.

Experience the drama and magic of the ocean in this lovely ocean bluff setting on the northern edge of Mendocino. Bluff House has a primary (king) and full bath on the main floor and a king room upstairs in the main house, plus an optional cozy cottage with a queen bed/full bathroom. The home is suitable for up to four people in the main house. The cottage is only available to the guest renting the house. It would never be rented to a separate party.

Inside, take advantage of the well-equipped kitchen and breakfast nook. Curl up by the gas fireplace and take in the sunset or a good movie on the large flat-screen TV. Then rest easy in the comfortable bedrooms with king beds.

**Please Note: Because of the cliff-front location, there is a minimum age of 10 years and over required for any guests and there are no pets allowed. Rates are based on occupancy.

However the floor rugs in the master bedroom and living room were dangerous. Very poor quality and had no grip. We had a wonderful time and that was a minor problem as we just removed rugs from bedside.

Bluff House is Fabulous

We absolutely loved our stay at the Bluff House. The view is stunning. Quiet location. Easy walk to town (though no sidewalk). Kitchen was well equipped. Easy access to bluff strolls. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Best view you can get. Just sit in that gazebo and take in the scenery and you will be transformed. And the location is just 3 minutes from town so you have all the privacy but then so close to shopping and restaurants. We are already planning when we can return - it was so special and magical! And the company was great to work with and extra sweet that they made us a Happy Anniversary sign - it's the little things that make a vacation like that special!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our third time staying at this wonderful and perfectly located home in Mendocino. We come up from the Bay Area every year and love this town. The home has amazing views, and is a 10 min walk to Mendocino Village with shops and restaurants. Kitchen is supplied with everything one would need. The only "issue" I can voice is the sheets on the bed were a bit scratchy/pillee. Other than that, it's a winner and we'll be staying here from now on. Oh yeah, it's also Pet Friendly!!

Comfortable and clean but lacking in some amenities such as adequate glasses, dishwater, dining chairs with paltry soap in the bathrooms. The place is stocked for 5 people but we had six because we had both units. We did not suffer but just had to scramble a few times.The wifi is inconsistent but that may be because of the area although the router had to be re booted many times.Overall, it is a great place and those few issues would not prevent me from renting again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our third time staying at The Bluff House. The location couldn't be better and the house is great for two people. The upstairs bedroom would be fine in the winter but it gets incredibly hot in warmer (above 72 degrees) weather. The house interior could use some extra TLC. Sink faucets need to be tightened and the entire house could use a good steam cleaning (at least once a year). The wifi was very spotty when we stayed (died every 30 hour or so) making it difficult to work remotely. My hope is the owners or property managers are going to fix that. Overall it's great place within walking distance to downtown Mendocino.

Magical house

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a magical house, our daughter was married here by the gazebo last year and we stayed here again about the same time this year. What makes it so magical is the 180Āŗ view from the sofa in the living room, and the view itself! The Mendocino headlands on the left and a classic Mendocino coast view to the right. There is really very little sign of other houses in the view as this house is maybe 10 feet from the bluff and everything else is behind you. Its on a large lot and the hot tub is private. You can walk into downtown Mendocino in 12 minutes or drive in 2, when you really need to get more wine, champagne and comestibles from Mendozas/Harvest Market, or to go out for dinner, but the kitchen has a nice convection oven and gas stove and a kitchen layout that lets you still have the view while cooking, which I enjoy. Its easy to spend the whole day on the sofa here. We did for several!

We had four days of perfect weather and weā€™re able to open all the windows and enjoy the soft breeze while watching the sea birds gliding by the living room windows. It was very relaxing. Overall we were happy with our stay, but there were a few things that could be improved. The upstairs bedroom was very hot and stuffy when we arrived. We opened the window and turned on a floor fan, but it took hours before the room became somewhat comfortable. The locks on the doors could use some maintenance. Could have used a few more items in the kitchen, there were only 2 teaspoons and the non-stick fry pans needed to be replaced, there were no bowls for cereal or ice cream. The cottage out back was very cute and comfortable. The location of the house in relation to town was great.

Incredible views, clean, close to town

Overall, this is a very clean cottage[s] with 180-degree views of the ocean. Mendocino is a small ocean side town with restaurants and galleries run by owners. Like stepping back in time. Luna and Patterson's pub were great. Great small grocery store. Hiking and coast boarder the town. Highpoints: 2 Bedrooms, One large master with bath, and one upstairs. Both baths were downstairs. 1 bedroom cottage behind the main house with full kitchen which was perfect for our grown son. Very clean and updated. Fireplace and incredible living room view. Good communication with check in office 3 minutes away on the same road. Decanter of scotch was a nice touch. Keep in mind: Although a 3-minute drive to town I would not consider it walkable as there are no sidewalks. If local, bring some lawn chairs. Two older wood chairs in gazebo, and 3 aging plastic chairs on deck... Internet is spotty but they are working on it DVD player and few movies came in very handy, but remote is unworkable. Dish network very limited. We did not have an account and could not get into Netfilx or others. Overall: Wonderful clean spot in a quaint oceanside town with unbelievable views. We will be back.

Can't ask for a better view!

The home is cozy and the view is breathtaking! Great kitchen and all the amenities you could ask for. This is our second time staying here. This will most likely be our go to place for our annual visit to Mendocino.With the above said, my only negative comments are this--Someone needs to go in and do a thorough cleaning of EVERYTHING. Walls, doors, shelves, etc. They are very dirty-Picture windows do need a cleaning. They were very dirty which sometimes distracts from the view.-It doesn't seem like the place has had a handyman come by in years. Faucet handle on the sink was very loose. Bathroom towel racks were coming away from the wall. Lastly,-The hot tub was absolutely gross. Looked very cloudy and dirty. I'm a hot tub owner and know that's not how hot tub water should look.I reported the hot tub and loose faucet to the management office. They sent someone out to fix the faucet but he didn't have the proper tool to tighten. Not sure what happen with the hot tub since we never got in.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view from Bluff House is incomparable. The house itself is in need of some attention. We had to kill or sweep up bugs and spiders throughout the house. The refrigerator has crisper bens off their tracks and the handle on the freezer comes off easily.The house shouldn't be advertised with WiFi as it barely works if at all. The light fixture above the vanity in the master bathroom had 1 of the 3 lights that flickered off and on so we had to unscrew it and the faucet control knob cap won't stay on. The tv in the cottage wouldn't turn off the lat night we were there so we had to leave it on when we left the following morning. The door to the master needs repair so it will stay closed. The toilet flush chain in the house spare bathroom broke and had to be replaced. The kitchen sink fixtures are loose and need to be tightened to the counter top. It was somewhat clean when we arrived but when we swept there was a lot of dog hair. I will give Mendocino Preferred some credit for getting a plumber out quickly to fix the toilet and attempting to provide a solution for the internet. It's not worth the amount being asked to stay here. I give it a 3 only because of the view. I would recommend staying here if theses things are taken care of.

August 2016 Escape to Mendo (part 1)

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our annual August getaway and fourth stay at the Bluff House. I'll start with the bad: The controls for the outdoor spa aren't working properly. You can't adjust the temperature - it's very HOT. Left the cover off in an attempt to cool it down but I think that just made the heater work harder. The house wasn't as clean as on our past visits. The kitchen needed a thorough cleaning (the stove top & cabinets were grimy), the bathroom showers are collecting mold at the bottom edges and the baseboards need cleaning. Every interior and exterior door was dirty around the knob area & adjacent jamb area. Pretty gross - I spent a good hour or two washing door knobs. My allergies acted up and I'm assuming the prior renters had a dog as there was white pet hair on the rug in the living room and in the dust pan when I swept the kitchen floor on day two of our stay. It was that or the sofa and loveseat are in need of cleaning.Now the good: Sheets & towels were clean. They use a linen service now so you get fresh towels & linens (as opposed to "house" washed with over-perfumed laundry soap). The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and silverware and cooking items. The appliances are in good working order. The living room is VERY comfortable with ample seating and lighting. TV works great. The view is amazing. You are on a bluff overlooking the ocean. You don't see or hear any neighbors because this house is situated on it's own little "peninsula". It's a short walk to town. (There's no walking path so I wouldn't recommend it after dark.) The property management team is phenomenal. The provide a generous welcome package that includes fresh flowers, brandy with snifters, and a lovely bottle of white wine in the fridge.

Close enough to the town of Mendocino for convenience, but far enough away to avoid the crowds. The views can't be beat. Comfortable and well appointed. We got super lucky with the weather and really enjoyed our stay. My sister stayed in the cottage and absolutely loved it. Only a couple small issues. - We could not get the fireplace to work on the first night which was a little disappointing since it was raining when we arrived. - The gazebo shown in the photos was once an incredible work of art, but now needs some care. Maybe it was too close to winter and they just haven't attended to it yet. But, for now, it was not a place to hang out. Would love to see it restored.

Gorgeous private setting near town with large primary bedroom and en-suite bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen. Very comfortably furnished to take advantage of the spectacular sea views.

Loved our stay!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Bluff House is a wonderful place to stay. The property is awesome, the house is very nice and nicely appointed. Mendocino Preferred are a pleasure to work with.
