Our new pool with heated spa is complete!

Welcome to the Shore Thing Beach Retreat! This beautifully renovated home has 4 bedrooms. Upstairs you will find the kitchen, living room, and 2 bedrooms (both with a king bed). Our kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal for your family. You can relax on the comfortable sofas after a long day of exploring downtown or the beach. Downstairs there is one bedroom with two queen beds (and an en suite bathroom) and one king bedroom.

This property is located one block off the beach, with a short walk to the dune walkover. It's also not far from the historic downtown area.

The history of St. Augustine is incomparable with almost any other on our coast. Founded in 1565 it is chock full of amazing places to visit, from the oldest house to the first schoolroom, to the impenetrable fort built by the Spanish. Lincolnville, just south of downtown St. Augustine takes you on a walking tour of the history of the civil rights movement noting where Martin Luther King stayed on numerous occasions. Needless to say, there’s also so many unique shops, and the restaurants are so varied and truly have an international flavor! There are things to do no matter the weather! You can take a free boat ride to Fort Matanzas and learn the history about the battles fought. Further south is Marineland where you can swim with dolphins!

The St. Augustine and St Johns County area have a great variety of golf courses for players of every level and skill. There are always concerts at St. Augustine Amphitheatre and events at Francis Field as well. You will never run out of things to do here in St. Augustine. It is probably one of the most beautiful places in all of Florida, and for sure one of the most photographed! Come and see for yourself!

The cleaning company provides a limited amount of basic necessities (toilet paper, trash bags, dishwasher/laundry soap, etc.) to get you started, you will want to bring some with you. Garbage and recycling must be taken out to the street Sunday night for Monday morning pickup.

We don't offer refunds or reschedule stays during hurricane season, even if there is an evacuation order. Please purchase trip insurance for your stay if this is a concern.

This property was absolutely fantastic! The owners and property managers were truly the best we have ever experienced. The house was the perfect size for our family and made hosting a beachside Thanksgiving effortless.The location could not be better. The beach was a quick, easy walk and even our 5 and 7 year olds went back and forth with no problem. We soaked in gorgeous sunsets, enjoyed peaceful sunrise dog walks, and made the most of every moment.The pool and spa were spotless, well maintained, and worked perfectly. Inside, the home was incredibly clean and stocked with nearly everything we needed to cook dinner each night.We highly recommend this home and truly cannot wait to return!

This lovely open concept home accommodated our family of seven perfectly. It was nice to have three large ensuite bedrooms and another bedroom for kids. The host and owners were in easy contact to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Best of all, the wide and not too crowded beach was just a short walk away!

Cleanliness not as expected

This house was in a great location, close to the beach and in a quiet neighborhood. The upstairs of the house had a good layout, however the downstairs was not ideal. One very large bedroom had its own bathroom, but the other “bedroom” appeared to be a former storage room that had been converted to a bedroom with a door leading straight out to the carport. The house is older, but the kitchen and bathrooms have been renovated and were nice. The cleanliness of the house is definitely lacking and not what I would expect for a house that was rated highly for being clean. We have stayed in several rental homes and cleanliness is one of the most important things to me. This house did not meet my standards for clean. The furniture, floors, walls and baseboards were dirty. There were lots of dust bunnies and debris in corners and around/behind the furniture. The dining room chairs were not the same chairs as pictured in the listing and were very dirty and grimy, we didn’t even sit at the table much because of the chairs. We saw roaches in the bathrooms, which was concerning to me. The host was responsive when I contacted them and they sent the exterminator out.There is a pool being installed in the backyard, which will be nice. Hopefully it will be maintained better than the house.

Excellent place to stay

The house was clean and well maintained. The location was great with close access to the beach. Parking was excellent! The host had great communication and checked in before, during, and after our stay.

Girls trip

Beautiful home with plenty of space. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the house. It seemed to have everything you would need if you were cooking in. It has easy access to the beach, and it was a great beach for walking. Easy drive into St Augustine for dinner, and to check out the city. Several state parks in the area if you enjoy activity.

Fall Vacation

The property was nicely located. South of St. Augustine show you could be away from all of the traffic. Lots of things to do in downtown St. Augustine. The rental was great. Nice having 2 bedrooms upstairs that had king beds and private bathrooms. Large flat screen TV. Very nice place.

Block from beach

The house is a short walk to the beach and made for ease of an enjoyable beach day. Many restaurants, grocery stores, are all within 10 minutes and an easy drive. The house was comfortable and spacious for the group. The owners were responsive and kind during our stay. We would stay here again.

Fantastic

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The house is gorgeous, clean, and spacious. Conveniently located 1 block from the beach. The house is near shopping, restaurants and food stores. The host was always quick to respond to any of my questions or requests. I will definitely recommend this house and visit it again.

Good Location

This house is very close to the beach which was very nice. Quick walk with all of our chairs and tent. The house was fine, the 2 lower bedroom are right at the carport, so you literally walk out of the bedroom and the car is right there. Walls were paper thin so whoever sleeps in the bottom bedrooms, plan to be woken up anytime someone enters the house or walks around the kitchen / living room. The back porch is nice. There are not many bath towels so you might want to bring your own. Also bring your own toilet paper because we were left with half rolls when we checked in. I know a lot of that stuff was said in the listing but I’ve never stayed somewhere and not had this stuff provided. Mistake on my part for not being more prepared. To summarize, this is ideal for being close to the beach and in a safe area.

Great House for a Family

Family vacation

We come to st. Augustine every year with our extended family. This house was one of the best houses we have booked yet. The short walk to the beach was great! The house was spacious and comfortable for everyone. We would stay here again!

The house had everything we needed to cook our meals and plenty of space to eat! The property was clean and spacious for our entire family. A beautiful porch gives an option for outdoor dining. The walk to the beach was so easy! Even with a toddler!

Wonderful Stay!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Shore Thing! We loved the open space and roominess of the house. It was in a perfect location to the beach and the beach was nice and quiet. Communication was excellent as well. My family loved staying at Shore thing!

Great Place

There were five adults, and we were all impressed with how clean the house was on our arrival. It is nicely decorated and comfortable. It suited our needs. Good location to the beach which was beautiful and so was the water, many options for restaurants, and not far to St. Augustine Old Town. We would recommend it. We do not need the manager David during our stay, but he was responsive immediately when I messaged him on our arrival and departure.

Be prepared, to be prepared

Overall the property was fine. However, the place is very bare bones. Towels and linens are worn, hand soap is provided (but bring everything else-including toilet paper). The outside balcony looks over brown grass and an old gas tank. You can see the neighbors swimming. You do get a small slice of the ocean between the houses. Ocean access is not far, but you’ll have to purchase chairs. They do not provide. And be mindful of the stairs. If you’re traveling with older people you will have to navigate stairs, both inside and out. It’s fine, but be prepared to be prepared.
