This beautiful, 3-bedroom(2 enclosed, 1 loft bedroom) cabin is the best place to bring your family and friends to unwind and enjoy some fresh mountain air. The separate detached theater/game room features an extra bed if needed. The intention of "Hygge Hideaway" is evident throughout the property. This is a place to experience beauty, peace, inspirational atmospheres, and the kind of rejuvenation only the mountains can provide. Every element of the property has been considered to nurture a sense of connection to mother nature, to each other and to oneself.

This was my first time playing anything like this. It was a pleasant experience. The host maintained good contact first of all and made things easy. The cabin was exactly as expected. It was cozy and comfortable. The play room was a hit for the kids and the fire pit and back yard was great for all of us to make memories. The location is beautiful. The cabin has a few quirks but it’s to be expected with an older home. It fit our taste perfectly. We plan on returning.

Amazing cabin

This was the first time my siblings and I all got together with our parents this place is beautiful in the summer time seen a few deers and have to say it’s number attraction is the game kept all the kids busy while the adults caught up on life love the communication with the owner and how quick they are to respond everything was perfect for us and love love love this cabin hopefully we will visit again soon

Quaint cabin

Fun property for families with kids, probably best for 2 families. Lofted room has a ton of beds perfect for kids. The second bathroom is also in detached area by game room where there is a futon too. Nice outdoor area near a creek. Easy drive to Dodge Ridge. Host was very responsive to our needs.

This owner double booked and left us out in the Cold!

1 hour away from this rental, I sent the owner a text message to inquire about the access code. She responded with, ‘I’m sorry who is this?…there are already people in the cabin’. She double booked us. During ski week. While driving in a Winter storm. A literal true nightmare for my family. I would absolutely not trust this host, unless you want to be pulled over on the side of the road in a storm on the 11th hour attempting to find other accommodations with screaming kids in the back of your car. She left us high & dry without bother. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone else, so please triple check with this host prior to packing up & actually heading over to start a vacation.

Disappointing

When we arrived, we noticed there were large spider webs and debris around the entire cabin like no one had been there in a long time. There were old Christmas decorations on the porch and some sap buildup on the entrance door. Inside was worse. The main bathroom had a toilet seat that was ready to come apart, a sink handle that was broken, mold in and water damage around the shower, a dead frog in the downstairs “game room” bathroom, stains on the carpet, broken hand railing along the outside stairs, cords laying around outside, an outdoor light that flickered on and off, a broken pipe that drained sink water from the kitchen to the ground outside, a dirty gazebo, no water filter in the kitchen, a used sponge for cleaning dishes. The fan in the living room was too tall to reach, the fan in the main bedroom did not turn on, and the cooler in the living room was not hooked up properly to vent and was not cooling the air. The Listing was incorrect, we found out even though the Twain Harte lake was listed there was no membership so we could not visit the lake which was one of our main adventures we wanted to do. We only had a short time with family who had traveled from a long distance to be in Twain Harte and we ended up spending a lot of time documenting issues with the cabin. They do offer a fun game room, although smells musty, possibly due to the water issue from the broken pipe. we enjoyed our time together, visiting a lake 20miles up the road, miniature golf and pizza.

Hygge life

The Hygge hideaway gave our multi-generational family of 10 a cozy retreat to relax and spend quality time together. There was ample of games to keep the kids 4-13yo busy - the game room was a big hit! The beds and linens/blankets were comfy and in great condition. The kitchen is well-stocked, and with 3 different coffee machines along with pods and flavored syrups! Check-in and check-out was a breeze. Appreciated all the extra info and recommendations about the area. Definitely the most hospitable hosts! The family of deer that visits to graze in the backyard was such a bonus! Did not realize the property was pet-friendly upon our booking. My niece got itchy puffy eyes which possibly may have been due to pet hair? Saw some hair in the communal spaces like the seating areas in the kitchen and living room. Perhaps a more thorough vacuum may have prevented this or maybe not. All the decor and details added lots of character and left us with much to remember. Thank you!

DIRTY/MISLEADING

If you’re looking for a nice clean cabin and plan to make any type of family meals, look into booking elsewhere. Every room looked like it hadn’t been dusted or swept in months. The bedrooms had dust all over the floors and crumbs in the bed, every windowsill had dead bugs and was covered in cobwebs. Both bathrooms had cobwebs all over the ceiling and both of the showers were visibly dirty and had what appeared to be mold on the shower curtain and in the corners (photos attached). the dishwasher (which was advertised being functional in the listing) was completely taped shut and was labeled “out of order”, also doesn’t look like it’s been functional in a long time. No dishwasher was extremely tough having 11 people. Listing states there aren’t towels provided but by that they mean there are NO towels, not even hand towels so there’s no way to dry the dishes even if you wash them. There was a cracked pipe so we were told to use the kitchen sink sparingly so after our first meal we had pots and pans sitting in the sink the rest of the stay (not to mention all the cups we had to re rinse do to the fact they were covered in dust, lipstick and/or dried liquid). Washer and dryer that was advertised did not exist unless it was behind one of the many locked doors we didn’t have access to. Shampoo/body wash wasn’t included it was just empty bottles. Backyard was poorly manicured with knee high grass all over. Unless it’s seriously cleaned and listing is updated, look elsewhere.

Hello, fellow Traveler—s! Name is Ben and I am rxcited to present our lovely and unique cabin nestled in beautiful Twain Heart, California. I was first introduced to the town of Twain Heart by a close family friend when I was just a kid. I fell in love with the town and the surrounding area and were blessed to create many memories here. When my family friend passed away June 2022 , I knew that we needed to find a new place to continue the memories and her legacy. After searching for a while, I found Hygge and the rest is history!

I strive to provide a superior travel experience for all of our guests with the thought in mind that you too one day will consider Twain Heart, your home away from home.

HOW TO HYGGE AT THE CABIN?

Spend quality time with family and friends.

We all know that having a good time with people we love makes us happy. But when was the last time you sat around a big table with all of your nearest and dearest and shared stories until the wee hours? Laughing, joking and drinking hot chocolate – this is hygge.

Sit by a roaring fire:

Few things evoke feelings of coziness and warmth more than a roaring fire during the coldest months.

Keep things simple:

Do things the Danish way and keep the food simple, whether that be a heart-warming soup or simple roast chicken, always opt for something delicious that can be cooked with minimum fuss.

Dim the lights

Read a book

Go outside

Put down the phone

Hygge Hideaway is the antidote to modern life. It is about being in the now, embracing experiences fully.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Our two story home consist of all two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, loft, kitchen and living room upstairs, and one bathroom, movie room(spare bedroom), and game room downstairs. The access point is outside and not connected by stairs inside the home. Truly makes for a fun experience!
