The Butler Tarkington neighborhood is a well-known Indy neighborhood. The home's close proximity to Butler University, downtown, and Broad Ripple make it a great central location to stay at. The area of Butler Tarkington that our house is located in an up and coming area with some new restaurants. About a block and a half north of our house is a sandwich shop and brewery called Hoagies and Hops. It's a great little spot to check out in the neighborhood. As a reminder, this house is in a metropolitan city which is different than being somewhere rural or in a suburb. Please take this into account when booking our home if your are not familiar with life in a big metropolitan city.
Our home is a 3 bed/1 ba, 1000 sq ft home. The home can sleep up to 6 people, but in our opinion is most comfortable with 4 people or less. We remodeled the house in August 2021, and it is the house that we stay in when we come to Indy. With that being said, our house is an older Midwest house with some character. There is parking for up to 3-4 cars in our backyard if needed, which you can access from the alley.
There are also a few restaurants nearby in the Meridian Kessler neighborhood. Twenty Tap is a gastropub with good food and drinks. Slapfish is a great restaurant for seafood. Upland Brewing has great beer and amazing food. We would recommend driving to these locations as it would be a far walk.
Broad Ripple is a very hip neighborhood that has good restaurants and bars. It's about 3 miles away from the house. Some of our favorite spots in Broad Ripple are 317 Burger, Cholita Taqueria, and Root & Bone.
Downtown Indy is about 5 miles away, and the Children's Museum is less than a 5 minute drive from the house. The Indianapolis Speedway, home of the Indy 500, is 6.5 miles away (13 minute drive). Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Colts, is about a 10-12 minute drive (5 miles). The Pacers arena, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, is a 12-15 minute drive (5 miles). There's plenty to do downtown whether you love good food & drink, sports, architecture, or sight seeing. The airport is about 20 miles away (27 minute drive).
