Beautiful lake home on Lake Michigan, near Escanaba.

About this space
Sunny Skys Lakehouse is a modern home built on the sandy shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. Our home is located only a 10 minute drive from Escanaba. Some of the features are 2 full bathrooms, beautiful teak wood walls, spacious private front yard, a sandy beach, a fire pit, washer/dryer, free wifi, and the best sunrises you have ever seen. The Ford River boat launch site is 3.4 miles. Ice fishing is just a walk out onto the lake in the winter. Snowmobiling trails are near by as well.
The space
Master bedroom has a queen bed and patio door that goes out to the back yard. Attached master bath is brand new with his/her sinks and a shower/ tub combo. 2nd bedroom has a queen bed and electric fireplace, 3rd bedroom is a bunkroom with 2 sets of twin bunkbeds. Main bath has a walk in shower. Fully stocked modern kitchen with granite counter tops. Eat in or grill out on the propane grill! We have a coffee maker that has a glass pot and also uses pods-- we supply coffee grounds and a selection of K-pods. Upon arrival give yourself a minute to enjoy a complimentary snack and/or beverage. Living room over looks the lake and has two very comfortable rocking chairs to enjoy the sunrise/sunsets in. We have free wifi and a smart TV so you can log in and stream your favorite shows. The house stays naturally cool being on the lake, but to keep it extra comfortable in the summer months an air conditioning unit is being installed Spring 2022. Listening to the waves at night is so incredibly peaceful so you will love it!

We have kayaks for rent, a hammock to relax in, lots of chairs for outside, and 4 zero gravity chairs. There are sand toys for the kids and cornhole bean bag toss game for some fun competition. There is also a canoe if you'd like to venture out in that.
Our sandy beach is set back from the water's edge and the shoreline is quite rocky so we suggest bringing water shoes or sandals.

An awesome fire pit is ready for you to get going and make smores. Firewood is available on site.

If it's raining, no worries we have you covered with tons of board games and puzzles for kids and adults of all ages.

We love our pets, and we know a lot of our guests love theirs too, so we are happy to welcome up to 2 pets to our home. We do however have a few guidelines to our open door policy towards them including a $99 Pet Fee.

2 car concrete pad outside of the garage. Garage is not for parking in. Longer driveway so you can back into the grass area to turn around prior to going onto the highway.

Beautiful home at a great location.

House is beautiful with modern updates, is nicely decorated, and is in a beautiful location. I appreciate the amenities like the fire pit, chairs, and hammock. I also appreciated the book selection provided.

Beautiful views

We enjoyed staying at sunny sky lake house. The property was well maintained and clean. We loved waking up to magnificent sun rises and sets! Wonderful that they are dog friendly and welcoming to families with kids. The owners take attention to all the small details! We would definitely stay again!

Family Vacation

My parents, brother, sister in law, niece and I stayed for a week. The house was beautiful and the location was ideal! The beach with kayaks, huge yard and fire pit were fabulous! If the weather had been better we would've used them everyday. The house was very well equipped and extremely clean. Thank you so much!

Wow!

A gorgeous view of Lake Michigan. So much fun!! We enjoyed canoeing and kayaking. Lying in the hammock. S’mores around the fire pit. The house was very clean and has a great kitchen! We enjoyed a number of local day hikes and found the location great with lots to do and see. Hope to be back soon!

Amazing get away

Everything beyond met our expectations. Booked the lake house for a 3 day mini mothers day vacation with our kids, after losing my mom & son in the last few months. Even amidst my pain, the peace & tranquility of the beach & waves, was incredibly healing. Morning coffee on the beach, as I watched the sunrise both mornings, helped me face each day. The owners gifted my kids some amazing treasures, that were all very touching & appreciated. The canoe & kayaks were so much fun to take out on the water with the kids. Definitely hope to come back next year!

Awesome

Sunny Sky’s Lake House is an awesome place to stay. Our family enjoyed it so very much. The house and grounds are beautiful and spacious with a private beach area, and gorgeous view of Lake Michigan. We enjoyed precious family time all day long with swimming, kayaking, playing games and ending each day with a camp fire ….. roasting marshmallows, hot dogs, making s’mores …. Making memories! The house was spotless and beds were comfortable including the bunk beds! All the furniture is comfortable and it has a beautiful kitchen with all you need to cook any type meal. We highly recommend Sunny Sky’s Lake House. R & S, Illinois

LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Wow, we were impressed beyond!! This home is absolutely gorgeous, yet feels like home. Owners have this place set up soooo nice…..it was all the little things that made our stay special….welcome note, cocktails/snacks upon arrival (even treats for our dog) plus a simple check in/out. The home is right on the bay and within feet from the ice/water. We were able to walk out to ice fish… sooo convenient. We’d like to go back in summer with our family because there is a sand beach which with the kids would be awesome. Soooo much privacy which was another huge plus…..secluded by trees from the neighbors! The home was spotless!! Two of the bedrooms are lake side, and living room and kitchen too, so the views are beautiful. Indoor/outdoor games, hammock to kick back in…they thought of it all! If you forgot to bring something(shampoo, first aid supplies etc) no worries, it’s there. I know I probably sound like a ‘tv commercial’ but it truly is all that it’s advertised to be online and more!! We will definitely be back!

The listing details do not totally align. If you are looking for a beach, there is a small man-made sandy area. This area is not well maintained. The shoreline is very rocky and marshy. The listing states that local coffee, Beer and Wine are provided as well as snacks. The coffee/creamer was expired and was not local and there was no local beer or Wine and no snacks provided. The air is located in one room only, the living room. The windows in the front were full of dead bugs on the inside and outside. The front porch had 3 or 4 beach towels rolled up and tucked behind the welcome sign that had a large bird's nest sitting on it. There were small ants in every room of the house as well as the kitchen drawers. The small bath sink does not drain properly and takes up to 2 hours to fully drain. The fridge in the kitchen has a severe leak from the freezer side so a towel has to be on the floor at all times. I nearly slipped and fell on the water puddle.The house had an odor the entire time we were there, musty/stale. Skylight in the master bath had active spider webs with dead bugs. The floors under the beds were filthy. See pics.The light in the shower in the small bath is almost burnt out making the shower area extremely dark.The shades in the fireplace bedroom are missing 2 slates entirely.It appeared that someone recently was there and cut down tall weeds and the clippings were left in piles.

Fabulous Experience, Thank You!

This property was everything described and more! LeAnn and her family did a wonderful job creating a true home away from home. The house was spacious, beautifully decorated with an “Up North” vibe, many rooms were renovated, and everything was spotless. The location is great right on Lake Michigan and we enjoyed a fire in the fire pit every day. There is a small beach on the grounds and the water is shallow pretty far out. Be sure to bring water shoes though as it’s rocky in the lake. There are lots of chairs and seating areas to view the beautiful sunsets. They provided ample firewood (low cost honor system) and super neat complimentary fire starters. Pinterest here we come, lol! It’s about an hour and a half to Munising and an hour to Kitch-iti-kipi, both of which are well worth the drive. LeAnn thought of everything with supplies, including laundry detergent, throws for use fireside, beach towels and even complimentary make-up remover towelettes. There is a Jacuzzi-type tub in the master bedroom that worked great. I was able to use it with confidence because everything in the house was immaculate. You’ll need to bring your own shampoo and body soap. Hand soap is provided. There is Wi-Fi in the house and a smart TV that we were able to use our own accounts with. Due to the remote location our phones were a little spotty but Verizon seemed to work the best. Finally, the communication with our host was excellent and we had no complaints whatsoever. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Bird Lovers Surprise!

Unexpectedly, we got to enjoy SO many birds while we were staying here! Off shore a ways, there is a small rocky island-- there were cormorants and gulls but also PELICANS, which then would fly by us on the shore. We also had an eagle fly by, and on our last morning, one stood on the beach for quite some time. The house itself is SO clean (the rain shower head was a fun treat!), and the host exceptional with communication. There is a basket of information on what to enjoy in the area and we used it to find some gems (including the Portage Marsh Wildlife area where we saw another pair of eagles and there is a great beach for swimming). The only reason I gave a 4 on location is that you do hear some road noise when you are outside (not inside), but it is set back with nice trees and you can't beat being right on Lake Michigan! Because we were, we also got to see sunrises and abfull moon rise over the lake-- an incredible and unforgettable experience. I hope everyone enjoys their stay as much as we did!!

Incredible Location, Clean Home

You really can’t beat the breathtaking view from this home. We had a hard time leaving and exploring the area because it was so nice to just sit outside watching the waves. Quiet, relaxed and private. We didn’t see a soul while we were on the property and loved it that way! This is also hands down the cleanest guest home I’ve ever stayed in, we LOVED how clean it was! Also the host is great and super responsive.

House is fully remodeled and perfectly clean. Location is ideal..

Everything was fantastic. The owners have thought of everything. Can't say enough about how incredibly clean and organized the house was. The beach area with fire pit is very well designed and is a great addition to this property. We would highly recommend this property.

Great location!

Rental was exactly what we hoped for. The house was clean and roomy for our family. My grandchildren loved playing in water and using the kayaks. Comfortable beds, pillows etc. Any questions that came up Le Ann was quick to take care of everything. Definitely recommend this rental!

Fantastic, relaxing week in Escanaba!!

The setting of the property makes it very relaxing both outdoors (on the beach, in the lake, on the hammock) and indoors as well (very nicely decorated, great lake viewing set up with awesome rocking chairs). We had a great week in Escanaba and surrounding area. Remote UP was what we were looking for, and this property delivered.

Now a Yooper Family!

This was our first time visiting the UP and it did not disappoint! We fell in love with the area and a big part of that stems from the house and its location on Lake Michigan. It was so nice to relax on our own private beach, not worry about a steep drop off in the water (literally walked out 60 feet and the water was still just below knee level), and be able to return back inside to a beautiful, spacious house. I highly recommend this house and the UP (as well as Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior for a day trip)!

Great house, well equipped and the location was incredible. Pics looked good at time of booking but didn't do the property justice. Owner was great to deal with and we had a great time! Highly recommend this property to anyone looking in this area.
