Step away from the hustle and bustle of life and enter Hidden Hemlock Retreat. Newly remodeled home nestled in 25 acres of mature forest with walking trails, outdoor firepit, and a creek that runs through the property. Many indoor luxury amenities including a large two person jetted tub, fireplace, private far infrared sauna, stunning quartz countertop Chef's Kitchen, business class internet, Sonos SL1 sound system, Samsung 65" Smart TV, and more. You won't want to leave.

The space
There’s an up north feel when you arrive to Hidden Hemlock Retreat. Friends say Hidden Hemlock Retreat has the most scenic driveway in Sanilac county, with its gently meandering, long, wooded views as you approach. Impeccably remodeled two bedroom home perfect for solo adventurers or a couples getaway. Hidden Hemlock Retreat is an ideal space for communing with nature, reflection, self-care and for making memories with loved ones. Artfully decorated and comfortable, our amenities include a large two person jetted tub, fireplace (kindling and wood provided), private far infrared sauna, beautiful quartz countertop Chef's Kitchen, outdoor deck with patio seating, business class internet, Sonos SL1 (no microphone) sound system, Samsung 65" Smart TV, and more. The views from the house overlook the mature birch, pine, maple, and hemlock forest; home to many woodland animals and birds. It's not unusual to see deer, turkey, and other friends of the forest- fox, racoon, woodpeckers, humming birds, and many other fowl. Pileated woodpecker have been spotted. Backyard includes outdoor fire pit, patio dining seating and BBQ grill. Hammock is available in warmer months.
Just a few miles from Port Sanilac and 9 miles from Lexington; for those on the go, there are beaches, parks, restaurants, and shops to explore.
Otherwise, there's no reason to go out! haha - One could be perfectly content to stay in and enjoy the peace of this tranquil setting.

Comfortable camp fire chairs are provided for the backyard fire pit, hot dog and marshmallow roasting campfire sticks available. Experience the peace of Hidden Hemlock Retreat.

Parking is easy with plenty of room in front of the garage of Hidden Hemlock Retreat.
Other things to note
We provide a map of the trails, and are available if you would prefer a guided walk through the woods. Forest bathing is a Mindfulness practice beneficial to the mind in our busy world. Explore this concept online.

Bring sturdy, closed toe shoes if you would like to walk in the woods. Pants are recommended. You may want to bring slippers for inside the house during the colder months.

Our property is a safe, secluded, wooded property of 25 acres in a country setting. Some of the windows of Hidden Hemlock Retreat which face the woods do not have window coverings. Please see pictures in listing. Feel free to message with any questions.

I am happy to recommend local massage therapists that are able to make house calls or have local studios. I highly recommend Heather Ferranti, NCTMB (solo practitioner), and Sue Daves (The Health Store, Sandusky). Please contact me via the VRBO messaging service for their contact information. These therapists have reasonable rates and excellent massage skills to enhance your rest and relaxation while at Hidden Hemlock Retreat.

Public, lakeshore access is less than 1 mile away on Walker Road. Go to Walker Road and park closer to M-25. Walk east. There is a short walk down a trail that leads to a sandy and river stone beach area that is for public access to the lake. This is also a Tip of the Thumb Water Trail marked site. Great place for more private beach use.

Another public, quiet beach access area is at Frenchline Road, again less than 1 mile away from Hidden Hemlock Retreat. Again, a short walk down a trail to the east that leads to a beautiful sandy public beach area. Please observe the no parking sign on the north side of the access area, and park on the south side of the access area. Enjoy the natural wonder that is Lake Huron!

I simply can't say enough good things about this amazing property! We are already planning our next visit! Every detail has been thought of and the home's finishes are top notch. From the kitchen to the sauna to the amazing spa tub, the space is perfect. Halusia was fantastic with communication and making sure all our needs were met. This is a true gem you don't want to miss experiencing!

It’s truly a hidden treasure! If you’re looking to relax and enjoy what nature has to offer this is it . The house was beautiful very up to date all the amenities. The hosts were very accommodating we were traveling with my 95 year old mom. They had everything ready for an extra guest. We will definitely be back.

Lovely Getaway

This was a lovely, clean home that we thoroughly enjoyed. The privacy was wonderful but there were two beaches within walking distance and plenty to do. The wildlife was awesome!

Sanctuary of serenity

Halusia and Dale have crafted an environment that reflects peace, comfort, and tranquility inside and out. Their attention to every detail makes it apparent how important your stay is to them. All the extra touches felt so pampering. "Immaculate" is the best word to describe the cleanliness and their communication was outstanding! If I come to the area again, I would not look at staying anywhere other than Hidden Hemlock Retreat!

Amazing Relaxing stay

This place is amazing. The property the house every aspect was perfect. I have never slept on softer sheets. I wish I had them at home. I will definitely recommend this as the perfect getaway

Lovely Stay!

What beautiful property, inside and out! A great place to just hang out and enjoy the amenities of the house and also nicely located for short and long trips exploring the surrounding small towns and up the Thumbcoast. The house was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need, and the owners were easy to communicate and work with for anything we needed. We hope to return to pick up where we left off.

Vacation

My wife and I chose this location as it was a little ways out of town and secluded. The wildlife was enjoyable. The interior of the home was spectacular. The host provided many items that went above and beyond our expectations. The kitchen was stocked very nicely with an adequate amount of silverware, plates, glasses, etc.. We enjoyed the sauna as well as the Jacuzzi tub.

Absolute serenity! The place is nestled in the most beautiful forest. Daily deer watching - with fawns! - was magical. I would go out and just take in the nature sounds while having a morning chai and a relaxing, and peaceful start to my day. All of us enjoyed walking the grounds and just appreciating the forest around us. The peaceful atmosphere continued into the beautiful zen home. Absolutely gorgeous with every amenity you desire. The hosts were so welcoming and have a binder of information- places to eat, sites to see, and little local hidden gems. If any questions or issues arise, they were quick to respond. Always ready to help but respected our space. It is impossible to not relax at this gorgeous and warm house. You can feel secluded but are a walk away from the waters of Lake Huron and short drives away from so many charming little towns. Sanilac coffee has a great dirty chai but the Keuring chai that the host provides makes a great one, too! I know where I will be staying on my next visit to MI - Hidden Hemlock retreat is a special place.

Magical Fall Visit

This property is beautiful the colors were amazing in late October and we had the best getaway! It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but we were conveniently less than 10 minutes from restaurants and shops. We saw some beautiful birds and walking through the forest was so refreshing. The home is absolutely gorgeous, felt fresh and new but also so cozy and inviting. We felt right at home and had everything we could need, the wood stove was perfect for the chilly nights. Kitchen was wonderful to cook in and well stocked with cooking necessities. We came up to relax and celebrate our 10 year anniversary and are leaving engaged so we will always remember this beautiful forest and hope to visit again!! Thank you!! it was chillyand inviting.

Very Relaxing Getaway!

I’ve been dreaming of this stay since last year. We had something come up and were unable to come last year but Hidden Hemlock did not disappoint. It was so cool to see the wildlife from almost any room in the house. We loved the jetted tub, fire pit, walking trails, and sauna. The ambience and general set up of the house is so nice that we did not want to leave to explore the city as all of our needs were met at the property. We loved every minute of being in the house and in the property. Also, as far as accommodations go, Halusia and Dale were great. I require the aide of a service dog… and I have had unpleasant experiences in the past with other places. Halusia and Dale were welcoming and made no fuss about having my service dog with me. I would go again in a heartbeat. The care of the house and surrounding land was impeccable. We loved our time there as I’m sure does everyone else that goes. We are incredibly thankful for our experience!!!!!

The house was amazing and we felt at home in the middle of the woods. There were thoughtful amenities everywhere we needed them. We enjoyed fires inside and outside almost every night. We loved the sauna and soaked in the tub a couple times. We are already looking forward to booking our next stay at the Hidden Hemlock Retreat!
