SUNDAY check-ins for easier summer access! The Jean Jean is a 4 BDR, 2 bath cottage named after original owners Jean and EL Sears. This cottage is centrally located and within walking distance to experience all the amenities that OIB has to offer! MAIN LIVING SPACE: This beach home is a beautifully updated waterfront home on a natural deep water canal (yes, bring your boat!). Open concept dining and living room creates a space that guests can be together. The main room was specifically designed to provide opportunities for conversation around the large dining table, play games or work puzzles around a game table, and adjacent is a perfect area to read a good book. The living room has beautiful, high-end furnishings with ample seating and a 65” Smart TV with cable! The kitchen is it’s own separate space and has a quaint coastal feel. It is fully stocked, has new stainless steel appliances, and has ample counter space. The home has 4 comfortable bedrooms– 1 bedroom has a KING and two bedrooms have QUEEN beds. The fourth bedroom is great for kids or adults with one double bed, bunked with a twin on top plus a 32" Smart TV for gaming! Get a great night’s rest as all beds are outfitted with new luxury mattresses. Two bedrooms have waterfront views and private doors onto the large canal-side deck. There are two bathrooms– one on each side of the cottage adjoining two bedrooms. One bathroom has a bathtub/shower and lovely single vanity with ample counter space, and the second recently updated bathroom has a stand up shower and double vanity. OUTDOOR LIVING: The Jean Jean has a large deck on the canal side with rocking chairs, lounge chairs and dining table that is the perfect setting for enjoying your morning coffee, large enough for entertaining, ideal for sunbathing in the afternoon sun, and relaxing watching the night sky. After a day of fun in the sun, unwind under the house enjoying a great breeze while lounging in the hammock or swing, grilling out on the gas grill and/or playing cornhole. This cottage is great for fishermen, boaters or those who love water sports. Bring your boat or rent a jet ski and dock it at The Jean Jean’s floating dock or use the kayak included in your rental. Swim or float in the canal during high tide, or fish off the dock. A crab pot is provided. Guests have access to new washer and dryer in the utility room on the ground level. There is an outdoor enclosed shower to rinse sand and saltwater off at the end of a fun day at the beach. Beach chairs, Beach wagon and sand toys are available for use. OTHER FUN AT OCEAN ISLE BEACH : Ocean Isle Beach is the best beach in North Carolina! A quaint family-oriented beach with plenty of activities for a week of fun for all. The Jean Jean is a short 8 minute walk to the beach access at the Ocean Isle Community Center. Walk 3 blocks to the town center to enjoy local restaurants, Coastal Carolina Museum, splash pad, coffee shop, ice cream, OIB park, catch some live music or play mini golf. Ocean Isle Beach hosts weekly free community events for visitors including, but not limited to, a weekly artisan market, community scavenger hunt for kids, family movie night, Turtle Talks, and a very popular Friday Night Concert. Want an excursion to explore beyond Ocean Isle Beach? We suggest taking a short drive to check out Calabash for seafood, Myrtle Beach for amusements and shopping, and Wilmington for unique experiences (explore a battleship, movie tours, Wrightsville Beach), and shopping! OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: The dock and canal are meant to be enjoyed responsibly. Please note that there are inherent dangers associated with water, including drowning. Please be safe and wear a personal floatation device around the water and monitor children and those that are not strong swimmers.

Great Beach Stay

This house was perfect for our beach vacay! The dock on the canal was extra fun for the kids to do some fishing. The house was just the right size, and not too far of a walk from the ocean. The communication with Bill before and during the stay was excellent, we would absolutely stay at the Jean Jean again.

Erica, You’re welcome back anytime! I did have the dishwasher inspected by a plumber and he checked all cycles with no leaks. He determined perhaps a large load of dishes or the door had been opened during the wash cycle that could have caused the leaking? So glad you had a nice time and yes the canal is my favorite as well! Actually a great swimming spot at high tide! Have a super summer! Bill

Mothers' Day weekend ladies trip

This property is beautiful and fits all of our needs. It's only a two-block walk to the beach, and we rented a golf cart, so that made it super convenient. They have everything you need to fit 5-8 comfortably. The canal was nice to fish and relax, and the outside deck was very comfortable. We would definitely stay again. Bill was very responsive and was always in communication. Good people.

Great stay

We had an absolute wonderful time staying at the Jean Jean. My family made great memories and we loved the openess of the house and the large patio on the back. My daughter loved running down to the dock to look at fish. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Bill was very communicative throughout the stay. We hope to be back next year!

Memorial Day Weekend family trip

We had a fantastic stay! The hosts Bill & Iris were incredibly communicative and friendly from the start, making everything smooth and stress-free. The home itself was absolutely beautiful—clean, cozy, and thoughtfully prepared with everything we could possibly need. From extra chairs to board games, they truly went above and beyond to make sure guests feel welcome and comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

Family Getaway

We loved our stay at this property! The house is exactly as pictured and was extremely clean and comfortable. The communication with the owners was great! We brought our boat and loved being able to dock it right at the house. We also loved how close the house is to the town center. We were able to walk to the playground and local shops! We will absolutely rent this house again if we get the chance.

So much to love!

Our family had the best time at the Jean Jean! Bill and Iris were the best hosts we’ve ever had at any rental property (and we’ve stayed at quite a few)! The house is lovingly maintained and went through a big renovation that has made it a fantastic place to spend a week or weekend. Kitchen was fully equipped, beds were super comfortable and the main area and porches had great furniture that made it easy to enjoy the spaces in full. We will absolutely be back!

Clean, Comfortable, Spacious, Great Location!

We were two families with kids, and the house was perfect for our needs. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The canal was so lovely for kayaking and swimming. The house was well-equipped with kitchen items, games, beach equipment, and more. The home is beautifully decorated and updated. We loved being able to walk or quickly drive to the beach, park, coffee or ice cream shops. It was a perfect stay and we hope to return!

Very nice!

The house was clean and comfortable for our family of seven. The decor was cute and new in the main area. We enjoyed the location. We rented a boat for a few days. We also rented a golf cart to drive to the beach, but it really isn’t a far walk to the beach. We could see the fireworks from the front porch on the Fourth of July.

Relaxation with ease

The Ocean Isle getaway was made extra special by the comfortable accommodations we experienced staying at the Jean Jean beach home. Felt naturally at home the moment we walked in as the place was really cozy. We didn't want for anything as the place provided so many features for enjoying our stay, including great porches with relaxing furniture, hammock, grill, kitchen features and water dock. Incredible comfortable bedding was top notch. Grateful to the owners and would recommend this place to all. Look forward to future return stays.

2024 family OIB trip

This vacation was amazing. Bill & Iris were so kind and awesome with communication. They were very accommodating with ALL aspects of our booking and so helpful. They had everything we needed + more. The location of this home is perfect and the home had plenty of room for the 9 of us. You can certainly see the uniqueness of this home with the beautiful details here. We will definitely be back to the Jean and Jean home.

Wedding Stay

My wife rented the Jean Jean for our stay in Ocean Isle Beach for our wedding. We wanted a place to get a little privacy from guests and family during our hectic wedding week. The Jean Jean proved to be the perfect place. It's location on the canal and and walkable beach access were fantastic. The amenities and cleanliness of the property were first rate. Bill was great with communications about the property and the check-in checkout process were very easy. We look forward to renting the Jean Jean again in the future and would highly recommend others to do so for a great stay in OIB.

Fantastic Christmas!

Great stay! The owner Bill was really responsive and extremely welcoming. The house was a good layout for our family. The outside space was our favorite, even in the winter we were out there the majority of the time. Great location, easy walk to the beach or to ICWW. In the warmer months it would be a nice bike ride to the park etc. The home was very comfortable. It was our baby’s first Christmas and a great one! Thank you for a wonderful trip

FYI - we are updating the small bathroom this winter and will replace the tub in the other next year with another tub. We think it's important to have one tub for small children. Should you desire to stay again please give me a heads up and I'll gladly offer a discount based on the time of year! Our cleaners were very complimentary of the upkeep of our home during your stay! Amazing!

We had a fabulous time! The accommodations were spot on! Lots of seating inside and outside the home for dining and conversations. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of space to store your food! The location of the home is within walking distance to the park where OIB has lots of summer events for adults and children and walking distance to the beach public access. The hosts, Bill and Iris, were fabulous to work with and immediately responsive. I truly can’t say enough positive things about our wonderful two week stay!

Great Family Getaway - Jean Jean

Everything about this process was easy and a great experience in renting a house for the weekend. Working with the owner. They are very responsive and got back to me immediately whenever I had questions about our check-in process or even while we were there and had questions about the house. The house was just as listed very clean, updated, and a great location with a dock that we were able to use with our boat. This house is a great location on Ocean Isle, close to the beach and restaurants in her amenities on the island. Overall, this was a fantastic weekend and getaway for our family and we will definitely be back !

Nice stay at OIB

William and Iris were very communicative during our stay and replied quickly if a need arose. The house is exactly as pictured and has been nicely updated. It is an older home so there are small things (doors not shutting well, older showers/fixtures) that come along with an older property. The kitchen was very well stocked and had a new fridge and dish washer. The location can’t be beat and being on the canal is always wonderful. Overall, it was a nice stay for our family of 4. The kids very much enjoyed the bunk room!
