Modern Boutique Farmhouse - Walk to Town - King Bed

Enjoy a stylish experience at the Modern Boutique Farmhouse condo in Dover. Housed in a historic farmhouse that has been renovated with modern amenities, the Farmhouse has been very carefully designed to ensure an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable stay.

The space

We are within walking distance to downtown Dover (5 min) but just far enough that you will have a quiet and peaceful stay. We are also a 10 min drive to both Portsmouth and UNH.

The condo is one side of a duplex in a residential neighborhood. There are NO parties allowed since it is a shared space. For every additional guest who stays at the condo (in addition to the number of guests on the reservation), there is a $100 per guest fee.

We have a front porch with chairs as well as a backyard with grill and dining table for your entertainment. The outdoor space is shared with the other half of the duplex.

Pets are allowed for an additional $200 pet fee as we deep clean after each pet stays with us.

All bedrooms are upstairs which require stairs.

We do have cameras outside for insurance and security purposes.

The condo has 2 dedicated parking spots directly in front of the unit as well as additional free street parking as needed.

The condo is a 5 minute walk to downtown Dover and a 10 minute drive to both Portsmouth/Kittery and UNH.

UNH commencement

Very clean, comfortable beds, has all the amenities you need. Quiet neighborhood and close to all stores. Highly recommended.

The property was a charming and comfortable older New England home. It was very well appointed and close to many attractions. The hosts were very attentive and responded to questions quickly.

Great location for exploring Dover

We loved this VRBO house! It was immaculately clean and very prettily decorated-we loved the vintage look of this house. The kitchen is well stocked and each bedroom has a good sized closet. It is situated in a great neighborhood with lots of beautiful Victorian houses and good sidewalks, so our daily walks were so interesting (and did I mention that it is only a couple of blocks from Dover's walking trail?). We have family in Dover so we definitely plan on returning!

Exactly what we needed

We very much enjoyed our time at this property. It was exactly what we expected. Very clean, tastefully decorated and convenient to downtown Dover and the surrounding area. We appreciated how easy Chris was to communicate with and how clear the expectations were . If and when we are ever back in the area we will definitely consider booking this property again.

Needed a place in the area

Stayed here for a week while doing a lot of business for the house w are building in Kittery. Since it’s a duplex it wasn’t that great for our dogs. They tend to bark easily when they hear noises. We ended up taking them home to the house sitter. The kitchen is run down and there is only one bathroom that is upstairs. Living room and sitting rooms nice. Not sure though that six people would be comfortable in this space, especially w only one bathroom. We did enjoy our stay at the Farmhouse.

Would not rent again

We left this home shortly after arriving due to issues that were unacceptable. The photos are accurate, however, upon arriving (on a cold and rainy afternoon), it was very cold in the house. We turned up thermostat in living area, which set to 63. After going upstairs to find second thermostat, we found it was not working. I texted owner ASAP. He texted back that he "needed to get that one fixed". He said the heat would rise to the top floor, or I could move the working thermostat to the upper floor. I was very unhappy to learn he already knew the thermostat was broken and he hadn't had it fixed. Second issue was that the lock and chain on the very old and worn back door were not sufficient to keep someone from gaining access to the home. Given the heat issue and the lack of security, we decided we could not stay. Before we left we also found the toilet in the only bathroom would not flush. I contacted the owner and told him the home did not meet expectations and given the issues we would not be staying there. We then contacted VRBO, since we felt the home was misrepresented. VRBO relayed they would initiate a refund request to owner, on our behalf, which they did. The owner told me he would not refund the rental fee stating that since we cancelled same day there was no time to rent it to someone else. In any rental, let alone one at this price point, I would expect heat, secure premises, and a working toilet. I would not rent this home again.

It is very unfortunate that Roseanne decided not to stay with us. The thermostat broke on us an hour prior to her arrival and I had been trying to contact her to allow us into the home to replace it but unfortunately, she was not responding to us, and we did not want to intrude. I tried to give her options to keep the house warm in the event she did not want us there during her stay but, again, she was unresponsive. While the back door does have a secondary chain lock, it additionally has a primary deadbolt. It seems Roseanne must have missed that. As for the toilet, when we arrived it seemed to flush perfectly fine. Unfortunately, it is not possible to please everyone. Most guests are very understanding and responsive when something in the property goes at an inopportune time but unfortunately Rose was not one of those guests.
