Warm Cozy Cottage on Mt Morris Lake minutes from Nordic Mtn adventures & S’more

Quiet, cozy, cottage lake front with nice outdoor patio area for grilling and backyard area for relaxing and bon fires (wood is provided for bon fires). Large, three section, pier perfect for fishing off of all day and night. There are fishing poles in the cottage for guests to use. During the winter you can ice fish on the lake right out your back door. The inside of the cottage has two bedrooms with either a full or queen size bed along with one dresser, as well as two bathrooms, two living rooms with two televisions, a kitchen space with eat in area, and a laundry room. The two couches on the left side of the cottage, when facing the lake, lay flat for individuals to sleep on. There are plenty of additional sheets, blankets, and pillows in the wall closet to use. There is also an air mattress provided for use. Patio and bbq grill outside in the backyard with a table and chairs for outdoor eating. Lots of outdoor seating. There is a hammock by the lake. The Trading Post, a bar/restaurant that serves food and drinks is near by as well as a coffee shop, the Mt Morris Mill, that has smoothies, coffee, and ice cream. The Hideaway, a bar/restaurant, a bit further down the road, is great for food and drinks too. Wautoma is nearby for grocery shopping, marinas, bars, restaurants, and ad hoc shopping as well. Spectacular fishing and swimming lake during the summer. Lots of biking and hiking paths nearby. Snow Skiing, tubing, and snowmobiling paths just a few minutes away for winter fun at Nordic Mountain. There are snowmobiling paths all around the Knest. The cottage has all the essentials of a home away from home. For the first time the Knepper’s Knest has been open to the public to enjoy, after 70 years, it’s time to share the love. Hope you find the cottage and Mt Morris as peaceful, serene, relaxing, restorative, and a little something good for your soul. Give yourself, your friends, your family, a little slice of heaven on earth and spends few days at the Knepper’s Knest and enjoy what little old Mt Morris has to offer, then explore the near by towns, Wautoma, Wild Rose, Redgranite, Saxville, and even Waupauca which is a bit further a way. The Wisconsin Dells is only an hour away. There is a lot of action and fun going on there if you are looking for action. Whatever you do, remember to enjoy each movement, stay present, and make those memories that will last a lifetime.

love the lake!

We had a fun and relaxing stay at this cozy cottage. The lake was beautiful. We floated on paddle boards, took out our kayaks, fished, and sat on tubes and floated around on the hot days. We liked the peddle boat also. The cottage had plenty of outdoor chairs that we used to watch great fireworks from the neighbors nearby, the activity on the lake, sit around the campfire and picnic outside. Inside had all we needed for the few days we stayed, and comfortable beds. Store was nearby and The food and atmosphere at The Trading Post was great! We didn't leave much because the Lake was the reason we came and we weren't disappointed by all the activity on the lake. Thanks for letting us stay!

Weekend fun with family

The cottage was well stocked and comfortable for my family. Bonus that it was located near my husband’s family. The lake is active - great fishing, boating and swimming.

Kitchen utensil drawer had mouse feces in it. Upper cabinets with dishes have a bad smell. Mouse urine? Our son brought clean dishes from home on his way. Two of the four burners worked on stove and oven door doesn't shut all the way. Dock area was very weedy, although a large rake was provided. A large pile of weeds at the dock steps looked like they've been there a long time. Sewer cover next to back patio gushed out the top and over the patio bricks while shower was in use. Paddle boat under water at deck.Beds were comfortable and clean. We appreciated the notes and communication from the house keeper. House has potential.

We had a nice trip to Mt. Morris lake. This cabin is perfect for two couples with the setup of two bedrooms and two baths. We spent most of our time outside. The lake was a bit weedy this year but being so close to the public beach was a huge plus since they keep the swimming area clear. We enjoyed the firepit almost every night. We also rented a pontoon and the hookup to the pier was easy and very convenient. Susan was very easy to communicate with before and during our stay. We also had a vist from Robin, the caretaker, after a big storm just to make sure we were OK. There was a lot of random owner items filling the spaces in the kitchen (old condiments, alcohol, and dog food for example) which attracted mice. The cabinets also had an offputting smell when opened (old or wet wood?) so we used paper plates and plastic utensils as much as possible. A little organizing and a deep clean could make this a 10/10 rental.

Beautiful Setting, But Needs Serious Cleaning and Upkeep

The outdoor space is beautiful, with a great pier, fire pit, paddle boat (which we cleaned ourselves), and lots of deer. The washer/dryer were great, and the Keurig with coffee pods was appreciated. The beds were comfortable.However, the home was not clean or guest-ready. There were mouse droppings, cobwebs, spiders, and bugs everywhere—on ceilings, corners, and around the dining table. The floors were grimy. One shower had hair stuck to the walls and old Band-Aids; the other bathtub was clogged with hair and grime. The fridge had open soda cans and expired food, including marshmallows from 2022. Two stove burners didn’t work, and we shut off the gas due to a faint smell.The Wi-Fi and porch lights didn’t work when we arrived, but the host sent someone out the next day. Even after that, the internet was very weak (understandable in a remote area), and none of the TVs worked. The DVD player was broken, and the Wii had no controllers.There were no checkout instructions, but we followed typical Airbnb/Vrbo etiquette. The host was responsive, apologetic, and refunded the cleaning fee plus a bit more. Our trip wasn’t ruined, but my kids were scared to sleep due to the bugs. This place has charm but needs deep cleaning and better upkeep to be ready for guests

Raised between Mt. Morris and the Chicago suburbs I have always enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, walking, golfing, boating, swimming, bonfires, and grilling. It brings me great joy to share our family cottage after exclusively using it for the past 30 plus odd years. I hope you find the peace, enchantment, tranquility, excitement, relaxation, and rejuvenation that the Knepper’s Knest and Mt. Morris Lake have to offer. Love hosting and sharing a piece of heaven with the rest of the world.

I love my cottage. It brings me back to so many memories and all the comfort and love that my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends have shared, and when lucky continue to share with me there.
My family has been going to Mt. Morris Lake for over 70 years. It is heaven on earth. It is my favorite place to be in the United States.
The small town of Mt Morris is centered around the lake and it’s the ultimate escape from the city and reality. You can refresh and recharge here.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The cottage is located on the East side, center of the shores of the main lake, and provides endless entertainment opportunities. There is swimming, fishing, boating, water sports, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, walking, tennis, playgrounds, a beach front swim area, a coffee house, and a bar/restaurant all within walking distance from the front door.

The Mt Morris park is across the way, where there is a playground on top, tennis courts, a large food area for parties along with the a great view of Mt Morris Lake. Anther view of the lake, besides next to it. Fall is an excellent choice to visit this beautiful area to see all the colors of the leaves change and the smell of the fresh outdoors.

During the winter it is a few minutes away from Nordic Mountain where you can ski, tube, and enjoy the winter weather up North. There is a lake ready for ice fishing, snow mobile trails all around the area and lots of fun to be had at the local establishments.
