The Wintergreen area itself was beautiful, peaceful, and a great place for a getaway. The location was easily the best part of the stay, and the surrounding resort/mountain setting was exactly the kind of relaxing environment we were hoping for.Unfortunately, the property experience did not meet expectations due to cleanliness issues, an undisclosed amenity issue, and communication concerns. The jacuzzi tub was shown in the listing photos and was one of the amenities that factored into our decision to book. However, we were only told the day before check-in that the jets were non-operational, despite booking about a week in advance. That was disappointing, especially since the listing itself did not disclose that the jets were not working.Upon arrival, we found dead insects in and around the tub, dirty bathroom areas, a dirty sink/shower, and leftover trash/items from prior guests under living room chairs, including an empty water bottle, used birthday candles, and birthday banner trash. I ended up scrubbing the tub, sink, and shower myself using Ajax with bleach because it was the only cleaner available, and there were no gloves provided. This was especially concerning because my wife is pregnant.I raised these concerns during the stay, but the response did not feel timely or adequate given the condition of the property. The area is excellent, but the cleanliness, undisclosed jacuzzi issue, and communication made the overall stay disappointing.
