This cabin is on private property. We share the forest with all of God Creatures.
The Cabin is 100 years old. We have done major upgrades. The Solitude is not for everyone it gets really dark. But my oh my the Stars come out at night. The animals great and small might pay a visit. You will enjoy the decks. The covered swing in the yard.
BBQ on deck. Fully equipped Kitchen. Gas fire pit in the yard. We are not the Marriot or Hyatt so please don't expect that. We are in Gods Country however and you cant put a price on that.
Definitely one of a kind Lake Front on Beautiful Lake Vallecito. With 2 bedrooms 1.5 bathrooms it can comfortably sleep 6! Shower no Tub.
Very comfortable downstairs Master bedroom with private bathroom. We added a sleep number bed for your enjoyment.
Great upstairs bedroom with fiber optic star gazing system, and balcony with gorgeous views of the lake and forest!
The cabin has a fantastic wrap around deck accessible from the cabin by two sliding glass doors, a fantastic way to start or end your day watching the sun rise and set!!
Nestled between BLM & Forest service land it’s a wonderful location..
This cabin boasts breathtaking views year round, with the lake shore only 14 feet out front! Easily accessible sandy beach for swimming or beaching your boat, great fishing, paddle boat, canoe, kayaks, paddle board and life jackets included for your use!
Darling island 50 yards from shores that the kids will delight in exploring.
Every comfort of home is here for you with 5 TV’s,, board games, outside propane fire pits, wi-fi. .
Vallecito Lake hosts a variety of different activities, ten’s of thousand’s of acres of hiking, backing packing and trails for atv’s/motorcycle riding and amazing fishing!!!!

$100.00 damage deposit completely refunded if no damage to Cabin and its property,
There is a picture of the Cabin and a workshop with a loft, its a work in progress during the off season. This will be for bigger groups and ski in and ski out in the winter months.
$100.00 cleaning fee is added to every reservation.
Happiness Disclosure: This Cabin and location is not for everyone! We completely understand that. Once you check in and your not happy maybe because you might see occasional mouse dropping or we might be too secluded or you just don't like it. The chances of you liking the next day are very slim. We will gladly allow you to check out full refund with the exception of the cleaning fee. We reserve the right to ask you to leave with unnecessary requests and complaints.

We loved our time at this beautiful property! Such a great spot for enjoying Vallecito, and the owners are so generous to give access to their paddle boat, kayaks, etc. Connie was a wonderful host and great communicator.

Nice cottage, direct access to the lake, good to use as a base to explore the surrounding areas. Hot tub and kayaks were an added bonus. Lots of space to sit in the well maintained garden. Saw deer, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels in the garden.

Wonderful stay with the family and doggie- hosts texted regularly and made sure all was perfect. Property is beautiful and situated directly on the shore. Will definitely return for more much needed downtime!!

Nice little getaway in the mountains the shower needs some up dating and there are 5 TVS in the house but they only work for about 20 min then buffer for another 30 min but over all nice place to stay

Beautiful lake side cabin

Beautiful cabin by the lake with hot tub. Host was so nice and checked in on us. Left us kayaks and other great equipment to use on the lake. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. Appreciated everything our host provided. This was a family trip so the rest of our family was spread out all over the lake but everything easy to get to and not real far. Couldn’t ask for a better trip!

Cabin on the lake

The property is perfect for a quiet, secluded getaway in the mountains, with terrific views of the lake and surrounding mountains (and a short walk down a hill to the shire). It’s in an absolutely gorgeous setting with lots of wildlife and things to do. We parked our car when we arrived and didn’t get back into it for days: fishing, hiking, mountain biking, birding, paddle boating from the cabin. The deck has gorgeous views for your meals or just relaxing. Bring a hummingbird feeder if you enjoy birds. Connie was very helpful and responsive to our inquiries.

Beautiful

My family and I had an amazing time. We loved the location it was far enough that my little ones could sing and happily shout as loud as they wanted and not disturb any neighbors. God's beauty is all around this cabin. We can't wait to come again.

Beautiful location

Beautiful location right on Lake Vallacito with amazing views of surrounding mountains! Sunsets were spectacular with photo ops galore. Host, Connie, was awesome. Loved sitting outside on the glider watching our mini Aussie have the time of his life. Cabin is rustic and cozy, well equipped with everything we needed.

Lake retreat heaven

Charming, quiet and relaxing. Nothing is misrepresented in the description. It is not everyone’s cup of tea. If you want new and shiny, go to a resort. For us, this was the ideal unplugged getaway. Fishing, water activities, hiking, wildlife.

Relaxing Stay with Beautiful Scenery

We absolutely loved our stay here. What we appreciated most was the candid and accurate description of what to expect from the cabin. The owner’s honesty about the property's condition was refreshing, and we found it to be one of the most fun, creative, relaxing, and beautiful places we've stayed. This cabin is a rare gem and should be appreciated as such. The views of the reservoir and mountains are stunning, and the peaceful surroundings made for a perfect getaway.

Location, Location, Location

In spite of my last minute reservation and VRBO process shortcomings, the host was more than accommodating from beginning to end. Much appreciated. The outside of the cabin and the location are a bit in contrast to the older and somewhat cramped interior, especially for the price at this time of season. But the only real criticism I have is the size of the restrooms and shower. Otherwise, the property is as candidly advertised by the landlord.

Beautiful Location!!

This rustic cabin was just what we needed for the perfect long weekend getaway! Breathtaking views from every window. Magical outdoors!

A rustic and eclectic cabin with a magical outdoor space that we spent nearly all our time. Such close access to the reservoir and within 20 minutes of some really great hiking. We, and especially our two dogs, loved our stay. Thank you!

Favorite Vallecito Property!

The location, the fenced yard, the hot tub, the kayaks, the fire pit…it’s just such a relaxing week when we come here. This is our 2nd year coming to the cabin, and we have plans to be back next year! We love that we can bring our pups and have them be a part of our end-of-summer vacation. Our girls love the upstairs bed with the twinkling lights. The host is very responsive and answered all the questions we had within minutes of texting her. Unlike some other vacation rentals we’ve stayed in, there is nothing in the kitchen besides what you need to cook with (pots, pans, utensils) and a few spices. Not an issue for us at all, but know that if you plan on cooking, you will need to bring all oils, condiments, etc. we did a grocery pickup in Pagosa on our way, but there are two little markets on the other side of the lake with some basics should you need it (most businesses around the lake are closed on Tuesdays, just FYI) Our kids also loved that there were some board games they could play with. Overall, this place has everything you need and we can’t wait to return!

Lake Trip

This property is gorgeous, quiet and private with direct access to the water. Everything is as described. Constance was extremely helpful and communicative and we had no issues throughout the stay. Cannot beat the location! My husband and I and our two dogs had a fun, relaxing stay.

Terrific nature spot!

The property is ideal, with no neighbors except for a campground! It was easy to navigate to the lake to do early morning fishing and I spent my days capturing amazing photographs of hummingbirds, chipmunks and nature outside the property. We enjoyed the stars from the hot tub and boating at the lake. If you love nature but want the convenience of home away from home, it has the amenities needed!

Fresh Air and Healing Waters

This was our third year in a row that we have stayed in Connie and Brad's 100 year old cabin in Bayfield, Colorado at Vallecito Lake. This cabin is lake front and has an amazing sunset view. This cabin is at the head of a easy trail for biking, walking, running or just taking a stroll. The yard is beautiful, grass so soft and cool on you feet and our Chocolate lab loved it too. The cabin has every thing for cooking and grilling. New Blackstone type grill- best breakfast I ever made. Also, washer and dryer so you don't have to bring a rolling suitcase to the lake. The lake right now is full, beautiful and ready for fishing, boating or just sitting, watching and listening to the rhythm of the incoming waves. We stayed 6 nights and let me assure you that it will go by to fast, so book some time at the Cabin and reset your mind and soul.

Summer Getaway

My husband and I stayed at the property for 4 nights! We communicated with the owner before arrival. She was extremely responsive and we were actually able to check in a little early! Right when we arrived we started exploring the exterior/yard of the property which is phenomenal! Within a few hours of check in the owner texted to make sure we didn’t have any questions about the property! There was a quaint babbling fountain, yard swing overlooking the lake, a hot tub on the deck and plenty of tables and seating options around the entire property! Decorative lights wrapped the patio and were strung from the trees for lovely outdoor evenings! We cooked on the grill and ate dinner outside every single night! It was peaceful, quiet, and secluded with a beautiful view of the lake that was just outside the back yard gate! It cabin itself had everything we needed! The master bed is a sleep number which was very comfortable! The cabin is a great place to rest your head after a days activities of fishing and boating at the lake or golfing and shopping in Durango (about a 40 minute drive) and after spending the evening outside enjoying the yard! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful property

The views and location are perfect for a weekend at the lake. It is also located right next to a easy trail that follows the lake. Perfect to take our dog to run and play in the lake multiple times a day. this cabin is perfect for 4 adults or a family of 4. Connie and Brad was very helpful and responsive to our questions during the stay.

After camping around Lake Vallecito for many years, and staring at this historical cabin next to Graham Creek Campground. I knew that place could be my heaven here on earth. Back when it was just a bunk house for the ranch hands working the cattle ranch where Lake Vallecito exists today. In the years that followed rooms were added, including a kitchen. You can still look around and see some original walls and décor. The property is a half-acre however completely surround by BLM and National Forests . The most spectecular view of the Needle Mountains and the Lake.
