We made three requests that were not addressed. There was no lock on the back deck door. We asked for that on at least two occasions but it was never fixed. We had to ask for the WiFi password several times. The handle on the microwave broke and remained broken when we left.

Quiet and lovely outlook

We enjoyed this property @ the lush and laidback north part of the island. Foodland very close and lots of eateries nearby and @ Hanalei. Caution: the stairs to the loft beds is narrow and steep

Princeville stay

We spent most of our time in Hanalei Bay. This condo was in a good location to access that easily. There was a shopping center nearby for a restaurants and supermarket.The condo was nice and it had easy access to a little trail behind the deck. There was a rooster that like to crow.

Location was great, but the property needs some love.

We appreciated the location, walkability, nearby stores, and management company who addressed our requests promptly. Sadly, the requests to repair the toilet, and provide baking and paper towels, should be addressed before our arrival. We will be back in the Princeville area, just not at this property.

We are a bit confused, though; we provided paper towels before your arrival, and when you arrived and requested baking pans, extra paper towels, and maintenance for the toilet, we dropped those off to your front door and had the toilet repaired in less than 18 hours... I'm not sure how we could have foreseen your requests before you were even on the island, and the toilet was working just fine when the previous guests checked out. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoyed your time on Kaua'i, and we regret that we were not able to provide you with a 5 star experience. Aloha

Don't worry about A/C cause they provide multiple fans in the room. Warning : a lot of Chickens will alarm you in the morning!!

Our Paniolo stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Best location! Very quiet place and so very green. The rental itself understandably is weathered because of the humidity. But we did not mind that. There is no air conditioning so the loft with the two single beds can get extremely hot as it’s right under the roof. The rest of the house was fine with 4 floor fans and the ceiling fan. The house was well equipped with everything you may need. There was even aloe Vera for after sun. Overall great stay.

We were really disappointed with our stay at this rental. Several key appliances were not working, including the washing machine, dishwasher, and even the keypad to the front door, which raised concerns for theft and safety. The wifi worked intermittently. Some windows don't close properly, and the toilet handle was barely functional. The condition of the home also left a lot to be desired. The stairs to the upper level felt unsafe and unstable, the carpet is worn and really needs replacing, and the bed is pretty uncomfortable. On top of that, there wasn’t even a dustpan available for basic cleaning.Overall, the property did not meet our expectations, especially for the price. With some major repairs and updates, it could be a nice place, but as it stands, we cannot recommend it. The location is good but that's about it.

Mahalo for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for your disappointing experience, as this is not typical of our services. We would, however like to clarify several things. Our maintenance staff did not find anything wrong with the dishwasher, and was unable to replicate the issue reported. Our staff also found no issues with the windows, though we will be sure to keep an eye on it. The keypad to the front door is a battery-operated electronic lock, and simply needed fresh batteries, which is to be expected from time to time. Intermittent WiFi signal is also to be expected on the island, due to the remote location and frequent weather events. We would also like to reassure our future guests that the stairs leading into the loft area are up to building code, and are structurally sound and safe. We will be sure to address the rest of your maintenance concerns with our team, and we regret that we were not the right choice for your vacation. We went on the walking path every morning when it was nice and cool and took the path down to the beach one day. We worried before we got there that it would be too hot without air conditioning but it wasn't at all, there's a good aire that comes through when you open the glass doors. The deck is nice to relax in the evening with a cocktail and relax after going around all day. would recommend.

Adequate space with a good location

When pulling into the property, there was a truck blocking my assigned space. Upon entering the unit, it smelled of stale cigarette smoke. It took the owner longer than overnight to get back to me. When trying to open all the windows to address the smell, I noted that the blinds were quite dusty/dirty. The fridge didn’t have a door handle. The path to the ocean described in the listing is overgrown, and I’m used to hiking. It is well located to Princeville Cemter, which is great.

We do apologize for the cigarette smell...we're still not sure where it came from since it's a non-smoking unit and the previous guests followed the rules as far as we can tell, but we're definitely going to keep an eye on that. We'll have our cleaning team give some extra attention to the blinds as well, and we're actually just waiting for a replacement door handle to arrive from the mainland, it just takes an incredibly long time unfortunately! We hope that you enjoyed your stay despite these hiccups, and if you're ever on the island again we'd really appreciate the opportunity to provide you with an updated experience. Mahalo!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed out stay at Paniolo 210A. It was clean, private, and the lanai was a lovely place to sit and relax. The pool was handy and refreshing after a day of activity. I couldn't give a full five stars on maintenance because the dryer didn't work, but management was easy to deal with and they had someone out to fix it right away. The only other problem was one of the glass louvers in a kitchen window fell when we opened it because it had no bracket. The only other thing I would say is the lighting over the table was inadequate to do any writing of postcards or reading of maps. Overall, we enjoyed the calm, relaxed atmosphere and the apartment was a welcoming place to come home to after a busy day.

Too Many Unpleasant Surprises

We are experienced travelers and have stayed in VRBOs around the world on many occasions. We booked the Paniolo unit in Princeville for 3 weeks based on previous reviews and photos. Unfortunately we found a number of things lacking. The vacuum cleaner did not work and there was nothing to wash floors with. To the management companies’ credit they had us buy a mop which was reimbursed and they provided a mid-stay cleaning. However for a 3 week stay we would expect to have had a working vacuum. On the Friday of our second week we received a phone call that our windows needed closing immediately as our unit was going to be power washed within the next half hour. The following week without any notification painters arrived and commenced to cover all our windows and deck door with plastic in preparation to paint. Because of the ongoing painting our deck (lanai) was not useable for most of the last week of our stay and without airflow in our unit for two days, our unit was very hot. Again, to management’s credit, we received some compensation for the inconvenience, but the lack of communication was unacceptable.Three of the glass window slats in the kitchen were missing. This was not an issue until we had a bit of a wind storm and dust and debris blew in covering the sills and counters. Even though the management company eventually responded to some of our concerns, overall the number of issues made for a disappointing stay.

We have since replaced the broken vacuum cleaner, but since the majority of our guests are only with us for a few days it's not necessary to provide a whole complement of cleaning supplies. In order to compensate for this with longer stays, we offer a mid-stay cleaning to make everything spick and span again. Regarding the power washing and painting, we received essentially no notice ahead of time either, and passed the information along to you as soon as we had it. We have also had the window slats repaired since your stay, but we would have appreciated you letting us know in real time so that we could have fixed the issue during your stay to make everything a little more comfortable. We hope that you were still able to enjoy your time on the island, and we genuinely apologize for the setbacks. Should you return to the island we would greatly appreciate the opportunity to provide you with an updated experience. Aloha and safe travels!

Book for 2 ppl max

This condo is ok for 2 people but they shouldn’t book it for 4; the loft area w twin beds has no windows & thus no promised “sufficient tradewinds”. No one can sleep up there – it’s so hot and musty. (There were several fans – cords strewn everywhere – but the one which actually worked wasn’t enough to cool the area.) The kids upstairs didn't have a chance...it’s like sleeping in a windowless attic. Our entry code was completely wrong - concerning at 10pm arrival! The photographs are misleading. The condo is in rough repair & not very clean. It smelled STRONGLY of mildew or cat. (Rental company said it's just typical tropical smell.) There is a lot of rust and corrosion, again common in humidity but also not maintained. (Tile would be so much better than carpet but they said the HOA doesn’t allow it.) We found several things not working. when I reported them they were quick to respond but just said I was wrong and everything they tested after we left worked fine. We booked 4 nights; stayed 10p-9am and checked into a hotel. They refunded me 1 night of the 3 we skipped, which was nice. I would recommend this unit to 2 people max who want to be in a great area but have low standards for the condo itself. There is a tiny pool and you’ll probably find someone in your parking spot. If I could pretend like I was camping I would have liked it more. Balcony is delightful! If you book this place bring a “plug in” or air freshener and spend your time out exploring the gorgeous area.

Aloha Krista, thank you for your honest and detailed review. Many of these issues we have privately discussed, but I would like to publicly respond to them with accurate information. We truly do apologize for the discomfort with the heat, you visited in the midst of an uncharacteristic September heatwave which only made the problem worse. That being said, all four of the fans in the loft space work just fine, a fact which has been verified by no less than four of our staff members. We also apologize again for the incorrect door code - we try to have these mistakes happen as infrequently as possible, but sometimes we mess up, as all people do. The issue was resolved within 15 minutes, but we understand 15 minutes is a long time after a day of traveling. We have not had any complaints about the smell from any of our most recent guests (about 10 guests throughout the summer), and we have the carpet professionally cleaned regularly, old though it may be. Unfortunately it seems that our unit was not in line with your personal preferences, and for that we apologize and hope you found somewhere more suitable after you checked out.
