Mountain Vista Apartment

Nestled sweetly in an enchanted forest rests this adorable cottage overlooking a beautiful garden from it's own private deck. The entire downstairs is yours to enjoy. You'll feel immersed in nature looking out from the floor to ceiling windows throughout. The space wraps you in comfort and reminds you of a simpler time where the chaos of life slips away. The house is situated perfectly on a gradual slope with a lovely view. My parents lived here for some thirty years. Being in the mountains of North Carolina, we around 4000' in altitude making for cooler mornings and evenings even in the summer. The top floor is the main part of the house where I live, and the lower floor is a one-bedroom apartment with queen bed, full bath, kitchenette, and living area. Your space has it's own entrance from a deck with an umbrella table and chairs with a lovely view of the mountains to the west. The deck is surrounded by roses, a flower garden and overlooks the front lawn with gardens, a red maple and many beautiful large trees. It is completely private from the upstairs where I have a balcony also with a view to the west (and gorgeous sunsets in the fall).

Satellite TV and Wi-Fi are included. Washer and dryer upstairs are available for use.

The property itself is about 4 wooded acres and is located in the wonderful community of Scaly Mountain, NC, just 10 minutes from Sky Valley, Georgia and 20 minutes from Highlands, NC. Larger cities are about 30 minutes away, both Clayton, GA and Franklin, NC. Scaly Mountain is in the Nantahala National Forest. The mountains of Southwestern NC are one of the most beautiful areas outside of the Smokies, according to Google. There is hiking on a forest road right from the house and there are a variety of hiking trails and waterfalls within a short drive, as well as the Highlands Outpost (formerly known as the Scaly Mountain Outdoor Center) with all season tubing (on snow in season), a recently added and very popular Alpine Coaster, trout pond and more. Also nearby is the highly rated Highlands Aerial Park for ziplining, trails with a suspension bridge, and several other optional activities. They even have a special short zip loop about 10 feet off the ground for the youngest kids who stay tethered and just go round and round and have a blast with their parents right there. So fun to just watch them having a blast.

Scaly Mountain has two good restaurants, Bella's Junction Café, and The Blue Hound Barbeque. And in nearby Dillard (15-20 minutes away): the Dillard House, The Hush (Cuban Kitchen and Bar), La Cabana Mexican Restaurant, Valley Café, Cupboard Café, and Julep Farm. There's a great many eating out choices in Highlands and Clayton, too.
